Update for everyone. I installed the backup camera and enabled VIM around March 2019, it is now April 10th, 2021 and have had ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES what so ever. I have have used these things between 1,000 or 2,000 times or maybe even more. I use the car daily and am so glad I did these changes. I cannot believe I drove the car so long without these things being done. I encourage you to do these changes but remember, you do these mods at your own risk and will not be held accountable for any mods that you do that do not work or do incorrectly and damage your system and/or car !!!

@@TrillramosYes everything is working perfectly. No issues at all. I use these daily multiple times a day. Never ever has malfunctioned or failed!!!

To tell what version radio i have is it under panel eeprom version if so mine says 9.02

Also I'm guessing a yellow single rca wire needs to be purchased to connect camera or does it come with camera

Update # 2 for everyone, as of May 24, 2023, Still ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES whatso ever. I am probably at 5,000 - 10,000 times used and it works perfectly. Thank you. No I’m in Dallas Tx so I can’t do it. Although I highly recommend you do it. I use mine everyday and can not believe I drove my car without this being done.

Hey luis i bought that small bluetooth to connect to my phone for my music i cant remember if the plug for the side of the radio uses the same plug for that you connected to your set up.. i do use the rear aux for the bluetooth. not sure if i confused you

Dude, the VIM cable, is that also aux out if u wish to connect amp, or is it only aux in? If so can you give a link for an Aux out ? can you to connect Amp to head unit? Please advice. I have Chevrolet Lumina 2007 which is a VE Holden - G8 basically. Thanks.

Hi Richard, the cable is set up for input only, here is the link for the radio wiring diagram for the G8 so you can get your amp connected. Are you able to run an aftermarket amp for the speakers or even a spare sub with the stock radio from those RCAs?

The rcas were setup for video, you would need to adjust what pins you are plugging into to get an audio signal from the rcas. Although I can’t remember if it was audio out.

Nah there’s an audio in, for Bluetooth receiver/aux, there’s no Pinout for audio out, i ran my amp off a line output converter tapped to the door speaker lines under the dash

I bought same but I don’t have a back up camera. Would I just leave that single plug one not connected to anything and just run the 3 to hdmi?

Yes sir, you would leave the single plug not connected to anything. But remember that you must enable VIM in order for it to work. Let me know if you have any other questions.

might of been easier to the elongate the hole on the trunk a little for camera to sit flush ..

Hello, I'm not all that tech savvy., After enabling the VIM function of the radio, and proper hook up of the back up camera, is the phone and HDMI adapter required for proper operation of the back up function, or will it operate on it's own.?

The VIM (video in motion) function allows you to watch whatever you want while the car is in motion. The VIM is not necessary for the back up camera to work. The backup camera will work automatically when you put the car in reverse. You will see the screen change to display your backup camera.

Hello, the power and ground for the camera was hooked up to the reverse passenger side tail light. Video for that wiring starts at 27:55. The RCA cables run all the way up front to the radio. A detailed diagram is on 43:13. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Luis I seem to have run into a problem I have my VIM cable connected to radio and camera to the rear, but I don’t have the reverse camera option in my settings. My rear aux screen is blank and when I put my car in reverse it stays blank. I have a version 9.2 radio as well. Do I still need to unlock VIM on my radio?

Hi Banco, yes you need to unlock the reverse camera setting on your radio. It did not come with the reverse camera setting unlocked from the factory. You need to do it. A set by set is in the video. Make sure you follow each step and go slowly so you will do it correctly.

@@dddsingh6254 Hello, sorry for the late response, in order to unlock the reverse camera option on your G8 radio you will need to 1st, make sure your radio is capable of being unlocked by checking you have a Version 9 radio. After you have verified your radio is a Version 9, then you will need to follow the steps outlined in the video to remove your radio and unlock the feature.

Ok so one end is for the fone to plug up to what about the other end of wire what's on it? Usb? Aux? Video?

@@fyamotorsports This is an Apple Lightning to Hdmi adapter. One end goes into your phones lightning port and the other end goes into the hdmi cable. I would encourage you to look at the diagram at the end of the video to make sure you hook it all up correctly. Pause the video on 43:13

So all that you had to do to enable VIM was go into your settings and set rear AUX on and reverse camera on?

First you must flash your radio with the new settings. After you flash it with your new settings, then you will have the option to enable them in your radio settings when your radio is turned on. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@@JoseHernandez-vm7fu In order for your VIM to work you will need to remove the radio, access the chip that is inside the radio and change the settings inside the chip. It is NOT HARD TO DO AT ALL. Just follow my steps and you will see that it is easy. Since you only want VIM then begin the video at 20:05 for you. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello, my trunk mat came with my car when I purchased it brand new. If you would like the same mat here is the GM part number for it. (92207096) I did a quick google search and found it on OEM cats for 77.00. Link here, oemcats.com/oem-parts/92207096.html
