I think that y’all are going to find this video interesting. I have yet to find a car that has all of these special features. Let me know if you know of a vehicle that has these special features. Please Like, Subscribe, and Comment!
What I've heard pollution mode was intended for is stop and go traffic, traffic jams, slow creeping traffic, ect. When the car is moving above 5 mph it brings in fresh air then under 5 mph it switches to recirculation so it doesn't draw exhaust from other vehicles into your vehicle.
Very Helpful! I bought a 2009 G8 GT brand new in 2009 and still own this great car. I knew about the Engineering Mode, but not the other four you showed. Many thanks for the video and enjoy that G8!
Excellent work! I'm a long time US Holden fan (G8 GT, 2 GXP's, and 2 SS's) and I cant believe I didn't know about the code reader. I coulda used it one or twice. 🤔 Glad to see new folks showing off a great car 👍 And showing new owners the engineering mode at night is a blast 😆
It might be late coming, but thanks for the important information you shared with me.. I bought mine new and was never told about these cool features.. I appreciate it , thanks!
If you drive it in engineering mode, the instant fuel reading will change modes from L/h or G/h to L/100km or MPG. When you stop moving, it will go back to L/h or G/h.
About to purchase one first thing tomorrow morning and I believe that code reading feature will be very helpful in the sellers decision with my price offering!!!🤣🤣thanks!!!
I've got same car here in Australia from new and didn't know all 5 options you went through great video and remember it's a holden ssv g8 go aussie muscle
I have a 2009 G8 GT, trying to make the lights like the digital speed on the dash brighter? I did have a smog problem but the complete engine oil flush with cleaner and new synthetic oil blend fixed it after 150 miles driving. all engine light are now off. smog in California is so crazy. frank Chico Northern Cal.
I have a 2009 G8 GT and the check engine light came on the other day. It went back off yesterday, and came back on again today. But When I do the "service mode reset", it says "No items"? Do I need to get an ODB II scanner? Thanx, RonQ
In most modern cars, the radio does that, my BMW does this it was the one of the 1st things I was curious about when I bought G8 last week. The other 4, I am definitely going to play with next time I get in it. Thanks for the vid
Thanks for this vid!! I only knew about the first one but not the other 4, thanks! So do you gave a V6? It definitely sounds like an 8! I have a 2008 V8 G8 and love it!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. Yes, my 2009 Pontiac G8 is a GT V8 model. I have owned it for over 7 years and it has a great car. It has an aftermarket cam and a lot of other mods done to it. There is other videos of it here on my channel if you would like to hear more of it, or see it run down the drag strip.
That is an excellent top 5. I did not know about the stealth mode or the turning on the radio features that you shared. I have my active fuel management disabled via tune. We have an '09 GT with the VCM otr cold air intake and Borla exhaust. I bought the car Memorial Day of 2021 with only 47,00 miles from the first owner. Love it!
Thank you very much. That is a great find to get one with 47k miles. I have owned mine for over 7 years and have loved it. It has been a very good car.
Number 2 isn't called stealth mode, but Night mode. There is a lot of confusion even here in Australia between the two. Stealth/Surveillance mode was a mode only available to police ordered vehicles and it was a button near the map lights on the overhead console that would turn off every single light source inside and out in the vehicle. They might have them there in the USA on the Holden Statesman/Chevy caprice police cruisers that were exported over there.
Stealth mode if I remember correctly atleast on my hsv clubsport (Australia) you can change a setting in the normal dash menu where you can still have the tacho light up or not. In my car the setting is under trip computer then night mode
I’ve had my G8 for about 6 years now. In the repair stage from it only having one owner. Went and bought a $200 code reader for it and then found out it checks its own codes. Lol. Wouldnt want any other car. Want to get another one lol
A base G8 is going to be a V6 and not a V8. I am not sure how much more life will be left in that V6 past 200k miles. I would recommend looking at one with less miles or a G8GT with a V8 engine.
there’s this g8 gt im looking at for $9,500 with 155k miles on it with cai. long tube headers. magnaflow exhaust system and a tune and it’s been taking care of. guy bought it in 2011 and put 75k miles on it he rarely drives it now and it is garage kept but idk how reliable the g8s are. what are your thoughts on it ? should i take the chance?
I have only had 2 issues on my G8 in 7.5 years and 96k miles and that is the alternator went out 1 time and a DOD lifter went out. That is it in all of that time. I’m at 145k miles and it has been very reliable. They are great cars and made very well. Keep up with the maintenance and they will treat you well.
I have a 1500hp 2017 Chevrolet SS. 2011 Caprice 9C3. Soon to be LSA to make about 800hp. I knew like 2 things but the rest I didn't. But I will add a G8 one say also. I like them alot also.
There's a 6th one you missed out on is shutting the car off from the passenger side with the door open will not turn off your radio or interior lights causing a power drain.. You have to open the drivers door to disable it; another one would be the aux cable hook up for a backup camera it plugs into the black box on the top side of your deck in the trunk
There is a lot of different ones that it has for sure, but that is why I stopped at 5 and figured that I would pick what I thought would be the “Top 5” most interesting to people.
@Whiplash TV if you have a 2012 Chevy caprice, you also can clone the hud to blue instead of red it's something I've been working on for a year .. the 11-13 caprice uses alot of g8 body parts
There is a spot on the back of the radio where you can hook up connections to do a backup camera. I believe there is writeups on the Facebook G8 pages.
I had no idea this car existed before today. I saw one coming behind me and was like "That's a nice BMW." My mouth nearly hit the floor as it passed me and I saw the Pontiac badge. Tried to speed up to read the badge but this guy was gone.
Stealth mode in my car (holden) has a separate button just for that and it turns everything off headlights turn signals brakes all interior lights dash rpm speed everything and I can still drive like the car is off 😅
Number 6 you can change speedo from MPH - KPH using the left scroll wheel. Whilst driving you depress the scroll button until the menue comes up English / metric scoll to metric and hey presto your in Kmh and ready to cross the border to Canada and not have to guess the speed
Mine has the stock radio, with Kicker 8” rear subs in the deck lid with the rewire mod, the stock amp for them has been turned up to about 80%, and the front center speaker delete which fixes the ohm issue.
@@lindamarquette7351 flip the wires on the rear subs, disconnect and remove the front center speaker, and adjust the subwoofer amp in the trunk and turn it up to around 80%. Also put the radio on manual EQ controls and turn the treble and bass all the way up to +6. I believe I also have “loudness” turned on as well. All of this will help a TON!
My guess is pollution mode will make sure you arent exposed to unhealthy exhaust gases while sitting in traffic. I wonder how many people die per year because of this.
@whiplashtv2022 when driving in sport mode, I can't remember if it does it in regular drive also. When you blip the throttle it will downshift so you don't have to floor it and stress the trans with a violent downshift
@@RyanBassForLife yes it is, and I like the SS. However, for the same amount of money as it costs to get an SS, you can buy a Cadillac CTSV. So I would choose a CTSV over a SS.
@@ryanrobitaille5903 yup, cold is good and that temp gauge isn’t a good representation of actual temperature either. I have the fans coming on sooner than usual as well in the tune.
