Here I show how to decode a Master Lock combination bike lock (model 8233DPROCOL) using the "Indirect Method" - handy if you've lost or forgotten your combination.
Second bike lock video that I watched and attempted to replicate...and I succeeded within two minutes of the video ending. My particular lock only ranged from numbers 1 to 6 with 4 slots but the method was exactly as you demonstrated. You gave right proper instruction, jolly good mate!
Once you get a feel for the resistance of the detents on the wheels, this method works great. Got it on the 2nd try. My son thought it would be hilarious to intentionally set an unknown code then scramble it. kids.... Thankyou for your demo. The sustained pulling was more difficult than I expected haha
Fantastic you got it open! Yea it's kind of a combination of art, skill & strength. And tough fingers ... I often wear gloves. You've learned a new skill - well done! 😜😜
Excellent demonstration mate. This looked very tuff to do and hard on the hands, Getting blisters without gloves is not fun. I wonder with these type of locks if there is a less stressful on the hands way to open them besides cutting the thin wire they come with, cheers
Hehe yea cutting the thin wire is certainly a weak point! That's a good question ... there should be an easier method ... I'll have to investigate. Thank you PW! 😜😜
I didn't lose my combo I was finding videos of people breaking this lock I just got to see how fast my bike could be stolen, this video proves if they are a semi person they could breach my lock and steal my bike within minutes.
Correct. In practice most thieves will cut locks/chains/cables instead, but a small percentage can easily figure out how to decode combo bike locks like this. They don't have to carry any tools either.
With the indirect method you have to pull hard with constant tension. It doesn't look like it in the video but I'm actually pulling constantly very hard (and you can hear me puffing in the video). The harder you pull the more you'll be able to feel it. It requires strength and also strong fingers to turn the wheels will pulling hard. Wearing gloves is a must to stop blisters. Good luck!
I had to apply tension to pull the parts away from each other (just like in the video) but there were no evident signs of correct combinations first. First tried brute force method for 2000 combinations, still keeping tension, but then suddenly I noticed that the rightmost wheel didn't turn freely anymore. First thought lock got broken but then same happened to the third wheel from the left. I could feel how something changed. After that also the remaining two wheels from the left got into correct positions and the lock opened.
There is this method: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PWF5vi13a1g.html ... which is based on: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rn_Q3zWQhCY.html When trying the indirect method, note that it only works when applying strong constant tension. You could also try the Sideways method for a bike lock, eg: my video 190 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e0xpSiTtvNA.html It only works on some locks though (but when it does, it can work well). If all else fails, you may have to try every single combination. Good luck!
All of the videos using that stupid pick trick isn't fucking working man ! There's got to be some other way ? How does Master lock sell locks that cant be opened ?
I've come across master locks that have been much more of a challenge. First, you need constant tension (I'm using quite strong tension even though it doesn't look like it in the video). The closer you are to the correct combination code, the more feedback you'll have (the more things will tighten up, and tighten up by a jump, making it obvious). It can be tricky finding the correct number on the first wheel (and also the 2nd wheel). Sometime I have to try a number on the first wheel that feels good and I go through the motions with the other wheels, but if I don't get anywhere then I go back and try a different number on the first wheel that feels good.
