Thanks for the upload! It worked! I found a bicycle cable lock at the train station, and I thought I could crack it, using a technique that you showed. Only I didn't think to oil it, which apparently is the key. The funny part is, I took a photo of the combination before I messed with it. And guess what? The combination was only off by the last digit. But I cracked it after spinning everything and not looking at the photo, using the method you showed. Fantastic!! I have a bunch of bikes and I'm always looking for locks. Obviously the combination ones are a lot more convenient. One key lock I have is very aggravating, because you need the key to lock it even. ------- Another combination bike cable lock that I found, I was also able to crack, but it didn't really count because I just turned the last dial and Vala! Plus this lock was on a bike that was in the trash, so I figured the person could very well have only changed the last digit - so that doesn't really count as a crack. - also with that lock, the combination is 0 0 0 5. Maybe I should change that, because I think they come with the combination 0 0 0 0, so somebody that wants to pick it could just go to all zeros and change the last digit and pull, as would be the obvious easiest method to try. - don't want to lock myself out though Another funny part, is it took me longer to find the lock, where I put it 2 days ago, then it did to crack it! how can you do this with word locks? Instead of starting with all 1's do you use the initial word given to open lock before setting my own word to open?

All you need to do is put tension on the lock (pull on it) and cycle each wheel through the numbers pushing the wheel to the left. If it moves over the number is correct so move on to the next wheel. The last wheel will open the lock when you hit the right number. That's how I've always done it since I was a kid and I'm 64 now.
