Redline Revs review of 2010/2011 Ford Fiesta 1.25 petrol / 1.6D with auto gearbox transmission issues and failures. Why you should avoid this car. Please watch before buying Fiesta of this age with the 4-speed automatic gearbox.
I’ve owned my 2010 Fiesta 1.4 auto for six years without any problems until this year when the front suspension coil springs had to be replaced. It has proved reliable and serves my needs as a 97year-old veteran with mobility issues. It has been serviced regularly. I can’t visualise exchanging it for any other vehicle. Insurance cost for an electrified version is prohibitive!
I disagree about the looks inside concerning the centre console. Maybe you're a bit of an old guy but the car is aimed at younger drivers and the styling inside with its sharp lines and aggressive angles looks really great. Especially with all the buttons lit up. Probably the best looking in its class in terms of sportyness. The polo is a classic sleek German luxury look has the quality feel to it but it's bland .
@@John56163 The transmission sort of seems to need to get grip before you start accelerating, sorta a few jolts before moving. That's about all the problems I've observed.
@@zinquay4692 the transmission issues are hard to ignore until you get used to them. if youre trying to merge onto the highway, for example, and step on the gas immediately as youre merging, you'll more likely than not awkwardly roll out into the lane until your car decides to kick in a moment later. you can adjust your timing accordingly over time, but it might be frustrating to deal with at first. it's a pretty fun car to drive otherwise. i bought it used at 40k miles and at 47k the timing belt needed to be changed, which was a nice little $1700 bill at the mechanic 😅 so take that how you will.
I've watched some videos highlighting that these models have a bad ground connection to the body which might have lead to some of the issues you may have encountered. Have you checked this on your fiesta? I also have a 2011 and still runs fine after 50k.
I agree whole heartedly with this review. I have a 1.4 Ford Fiesta titanium automatic, 2011 year of male and it was sold to me with a faulty gear box that wouldn’t shift into 5th gear. Ford replaced it under warranty. It’s now 6 years later and having only done 40,000 miles in that 6 years, the gearbox has now stopped working again, garages that I speak to want 3000 quid to get it fixed. Any advice?
I just bought one of these as a first car having real trouble with the gear shifter its gettin worse changing it into drive an reverse an back to park its really stiff can anybody advise on whats best to fix this make it abit smoother
Car just need proper service shedule, most owners don't do. Since i drive Ford cars made in Germany i don't have eny problems at all. Before, i was driving all tipe of cars and they most be in mechanic garage then driving, especialy vw.
What can I say other than the fact I have had this model since new. It has been faultless, never given any problems what so ever. it was first reg feb 2011 has just sailed thru its MOT with a couple of advisories which are the front discs may need to be changed as they are showing their age, a ball joint will need looking at soon although not bad enough to fail MOT. Can't be bad for a 7 year old car, serviced every year and not a hint of a problem with Auto gearbox. So I think I will take that review with a pinch of salt.
Brian Stevenson glad it's working for you. I would take your good experience as a sign that you're a lucky person. I'm not the only one to report serious issues with these auto boxes, an Internet search will return a lot of results.
It's good that you aren't experiencing this problem, but if it has the propensity to happen on one of these models, it can happen on every copy of it, which when you're talking about handing over 5k to a stranger in their yard after a 10 minute test drive is a hell of a big deal.
I have a Ford Fiesta 2013 Automatic Transmission. It only has 18,000 miles on the clock. It has now developed a faulty gearbox and needs complete replacement. I have been in touch with Ford who do not want to take responsiblity. Can anyone give me details about the US lawsuits that have been issued. I do intend to take Ford to small claims , what have I got to lose, the new gearbox will cost £3600!!. Any help ?
Hi I have a 1.4 auto 2010 fiesta.had major problems with gearbox.Told by Ford dealer it could be oil paid them it wasn’t hen they said it was gearbox seal quoted me 2k which I agreed it wasn’t.then they wanted another 4K for new gearbox.i then took the cat away and went to a specialist gear box company paid £900 at he fixed it,it had a broken band in the gearbox.car works ok now but gearbox still has a small delay in selection but it works.
Hi, it is 'normal' in the sense that Ford designed a flawed transmission and never accepted any liability. In fact in the US a law suit was filed against them by customers over this issue, I believe. When we took the car to Ford they talked about going through a costly schedule of troubleshooting step-by-step repairs starting with transmission oil change, rather than owning up to the known problem. Independent garages asked for a big sum of money to do the work but would only give a 6 month warranty and couldn't guarantee the problem would not reoccur. What country are you in? We took the car in the video to car giant and got good money on a trade in against another car with it - car giant didn't even care to test drive so were unaware of the gearbox issues.
@@RedlineRevs "In fact" and "I believe" shouldn't be used together in that sentence but it's good to spread awareness. It is of no surprise to me that a car manufacturer is dishonest, I've had many issues with Ford but still bought another one recently, it comes down to money and buying something that after doing a lot of research into, you make your decision and then hope for the best, time will tell. 'I believe' it's Ford's PowerShift gearbox that has the most automatic gearbox issues. I really wanted a powershift gearbox as the short term hire car I had (1.6 petrol Fiesta Titanium) was flawless and worked really well, obviously not worth it if they were not to last. I feel your pain and wish your next car to be reliable.🤞
Redline Revs ,hi great video,I have the galaxy 2.0 ecoboost 6 speed automatic,20,000 miles so far ,car feels great changes gear beautifully, any known problems with this gearbox or is it just the 4 speed, thanks
In relation to 1.4 engine Titanium and automatic, this review for Me is false and Unreliable. Was put off buying car as a result of the review I saw Here. The car I bought has been a delightful and even heavenly experience for how smooth it drives and shifting gears. Just to remind everyone that such a review is NOT reflective of other automatic 2011 Fiestas. I respect the creator is honest for his opinions and this is otherwise a detailed and attentive review, but it doesn’t necessarily apply for all Other similar fiestas. The one I bought has 33000 miles so must Still some Decent Fiestas out there. Also powershift relates to later models not 2011 anyways.
That’s not normal at all . Iv have the exact same car , it’s been absolutely amazing up until recent .my one has started a shudder when you take off and the car is cold . It’s currently doing 110 000km . Iv been advised to have the transmission fluid replaced . Hope it works or it’s time to sell
Exact same issues with mine 2012 titainium auto , 22,000 miles and has major transmition faults , revs like mad trying to get over 40mph , makes a loud bang when going into 3rd gear ... piece of crap 🙈
@@RedlineRevs thanks for your reply, worst part is... it's been behaving like this since 9,000 miles 🙈 had a garage do the ECU reading and they reset it , was good for another 4,000 miles ... now they're saying 1,500 pound to fix it 😂 I'm gutted as it's a lovely little car when it was running fine. Can't even get up a hill now, wouldn't dare take it on a motorway either 🙈
@@tinydancer9602 that's really terrible. Time to swap it. I would say if it's a small auto car you're looking for better to go Japanese. They tend to have older but more reliable auto transmission technology.
