You deserve way more subs. Your videos are so clear and easy to follow. Even torque specs are more accurate than a lot of videos I've seen with 50 times the subscribers you have. Very well done.

So far you're the only one I've seen torque the bolt correctly and actually get the full 180. Very nice!

Official VW Repair documentation (2023 revision) specifies 200Nm + 90 degrees. It seems that every video out there (including from reputable vendors such as ECS and FCP Euro) has different specifications, none of which match the official repair documentation.

Your video was the best at showing how difficult getting to those carrier bolts can be. They are really buried behind the brake and parking brake lines brake + the suspension parts. Telescoping breaker bar plus stubby 14 mm triple square is the key. Thanks buddy . Liked and subbed.

Yea, for sure. Those bolts are a pain to get to especially if you don't have a propper setup. I'm happy you found this video helpful, thanks for watching and welcome to the Crafty family!

Thank You for this video. I've had abs issues for months, messing with the sensors and batteries. I finally narrowed it down to the rear right speed sensor, and played around with that until i saw your video. Bought the bearing, followed your steps, abs lights are out, and still out 600miles later. Thank you so much.

Doing this today for the same reason.(Advice to people :Don't just change the speed sensor if you have that fault code. Inspect the bearing . Thanks for the upload . Very clear and well edited video .
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds

Yea, for sure. I thought it was the sensor that was causing the code as well, but after ruling out the sensor, I check and found the damaged bearing. Thanks for watching!

@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds Job done today . No more lights on the dashboard . Long breaker bar for the bearing nut and M14 stubby triple square for the caliper bracket are your friends.

@@r.t.7925 good job, on fixing it. Yea, I had to use a breaker bar and a jack handle, and even then the breaker bar was flexing. My axle bolt was on really tight. Yea, I had to pull out my stuby triple square socket, when I realized the longer ones wouldn't fit.

Great video!! FYI those rear caliper carrier bolts are TTY as well. It gets expensive to replace all the bolts. Most bolts on the GTI are TTY and it sucks. I have a bag of used, in great condition bolts :(

The rotor holding bolt. I've had a lot of luck putting the Allen socket in it and striking it with a hammer. It usually breaks the rust weld.

Great video, it is really informative. When I look for the right rear bearing and hub assembly, I'm getting results showing 30mm and 32mm bearings and I can't find anything advising the proper size. Does anybody have knowledge of this? 2011 GTI Base, M/T, PZEV. Thanks in advance!

Can anyone tell me if the wheel bolts thread directly into the outer hub or the bearing system? Previous owner stripped 2/5 bolts and I would like to replace only what is necessary.

Thanks for a great video. Just done the front and turns out it was the back needing doing. Back looks a lot easier than the front. Looked a bit tricky - 133 torque then another very hard 180degree. I'd be worried about breaking a tool or worse - the bolt? Guess if it was risky you would have said that. So what's holding the axle? Brake or gear? Thanks
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds 2 года назад
Yea, the bolt will be fine, but you gotta worry about your tool. Make sure you have a solid breaker bar and a jack handle. You can see in the video, my breaker bar was flexing. The bolt goes into the rear knuckle, no gear nor brake is involved.

Anything snaps/slips or breaks while youre pressing down and your gonna have an ugly day. But your dentist or window repair guy would be happy. So be careful and controlled.

I don't understand the torqueing of the hub bolt. Do you torque it to 133 ft-lbs then turn it another half turn?
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds 3 года назад
Yes, that's what I did. After the initial torque, I stretched the bolt by turning it 180 degrees. That's why these bolts should not be reused.

its fine if you can able torque it up to 180nm, dont scretch it again, use with blue loctit... if the bolt unsafe it will break when middle of torque
