Thank you very much for posting this, mine failed yesterday. Had it fixed last night because of your video. I managed to do it without taking the coolant pipe off, and took the alternator off but left it in the area, just moved it about to suit. The hardest part was the alternator bolts and routing the belt again. I was in a panic and would have been scratching my head for ages if it wasn't for you posting this and showing to lever the fan too. Thank you!
Hi R4UL, really really nice video. Keep up the good work. Listen, I have the same car and must put in a new pump for the power steering as mine gave up yesterday. Should I take the alternator out first or is it possible to change the pump without touching the alternator? Thank you in advance, mate! Greetings from Germany
@@TEAMR4ULTV thanks for gettin in touch. Pump is ready. Now i need to change also the 2 pullies. The tensioner you already shown really nice how its done. How about the other one. It is extremely worn and goes heavy already. i appreciate you helpimg a brother
I replaced just the belt on my 2010 A5 and I managed to do it without taking anything off. It was super difficult and my hands and arms were all cut up when I was done.
A actually forget small detail 😅 1.9 have radiator fan on fluid clutch poháněný stejným řemen.... and that's real struggle. (wrench on angle grinder disk make whole work easier)
I did it!!!, mines slightly different to yours, alternator had 2 bolts and there was a mesh around the fan wich made it difficult but never the less, all changed in about 3 hours lol but happy days thanks again!! 🙂
Hi mate great video. Could I start the car without the belt briefly? I have a wining noise and just wanted to see if it goes with no belt on. Not sure which pulley it is that’s making the noise. Car is on 172k 2012 b8.5
How do ya know when the belt is gone , I’m here because my engine is rattling loudly from that location when I start the car , but the fan belt was replaced about 18 months ago ?
its gone. It starts rattling first when cold then rattles all the time. I change belt and tensioner every 2-3 years. It has to be a bad design. Check the belt - you will see the wear on one side.
Nice video i needed to replace thermostat on my audi, ended up taking the front off amd alternator and doing aux belt and tensioner into the bundle. Bit of a ballache but i've got big hands hehe.
@@Benjamin-kt8jf sorry mate unfortunately not completely i recently had one of the pulleys changed that possibly bowed, that however did reduced it but u can still hear squeaking time to time
Could Be the generator wheel. Mine squeks aswell. And it spunds like its from the generator, which means that i also Think that the tensioner failure might come from the generetaor wheel not spinning straight
