2010 chevy equinox accelerating problems 

My equinox was doing the exact same thing. I FINALLY figured out what it was. It's the upper O2 sensor. The one by the exhaust manifold. I replaced so many parts trying to figure out what it was (catalytic converter, throttle body etc.) The real problem with these vehicles is the pistons. The car burns an excessive amount of oil which causes the exhaust manifold to crack, which leads to the upper O2 sensor burning up. If you have this car, check/change your oil very often if you can't afford to replace the pistons. Hope this helps.

My mom has the 4 cylinder model and at 50k miles the engine needed new pistons and rings. Also got all new catalytic converters due to being clogged from burning 2 qts of oil a month. It has 65k now and the timing chain guides broke which is causing it to rub on the cover. This problem also has occured where the vehicle won't accelerate.. Disappointing

Glad You Got A Newer One. I Would've Had Them Check The Throttle Control Resistor. That's What Seemed To Be The Issue. Same Happened To Me On My 2011 Malibu.

So what did you find out cause my 2015 is doing it now. Like it doesn't want to shift but I don't hear a knocking or filming slipping in the transmission.

No, they had it in the shop for about a week. At first I think they said it was a bad fuel pump, so they replaced that. After the new fuel pump was replaced, it still kept dying and an alternator / battery light came on. They replaced the battery and the car kept having the same problem. We finally got around to getting the vehicle replaced for a newer model.

I have a 2013 Equinox, I bought it new. I have put 120000 miles on it with 0 issues! Very reliable car! I recently replaced it with the 2018 Equinox, the 2018 is smooth and amazing as well!

I'm sure you either sold the car or had it fixed but the issue is same as we had. I replaced BOTH intake and exhaust Eng. Var Timing Solenoids. Also called Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid Cost us about 95 bucks, easy fix, did it my self. Wifes car had low oil PRIOR to this happening. Did oil change, she went on a long trip, and the car started doing the same thing. Engine lite finally came on and this is what was wrong.

It’s most likely the traction control actin up looks like. Bc as you floor it, you see the light flash. Try turning off traction control by pressing the button right by the arm rest. It has a car and tire squiggly lines. If that doesn’t work, then idk what’s wrong with it.

so this has to do with the transmission yesterday it happened to me and the speed was 35 to 0 I'm concerned this will happen again

turning off the traction control.that button between the shifter and the console will eliminate that as a possibility it can cut power going through deep snow where i have to turn it off.when the module fouls up. it can cause problems on dry roads.a mechanic that replaces parts without testing is an idiot.

This happens because of the M shift kicking in when it shouldn't. Go to manual shift, hit the + & - button to shift. You can also stop car, put in park, shut it off, turn back on and it'll reset it. I agree, it's dangerous.

A couple years ago I bought a brand new Chevy Equinox I was driving down the road in the motor kept on cutting off I could not believe that new vehicle for so junk I had to take it back to the dealership and get a new vehicle

Change all your solenoid in the TCM. And transmission filter

This will happen if you have a faulty wheel speed sensor that's sending a bad/low reading. It causes the traction control to freak out because it thinks the other three wheels have lost traction and are spinning out of control, so it cuts power to slow the all the wheels down to the same speed. The workaround is to just shut off traction control each time you start the car, but if you have a good diagnostic tool, then you can go into the electronic braking module(?name might be different) and look at the wheel speed sensor signal for each wheel while the car is moving. You'll likely see one that is much lower than the other three. That's the faulty one.

This is why no matter what gmc terrian and Chevy equinox GET THR V6 people I learned I had a 15 equinox ltz eco tech sucked died all the time and then I got a 15 ltz 3.6 v6 best car ever has over 450,0878 and it’s runing like it did at 30 k miles

My mom gkt my brother a 2012 and it would start to like shake at idle and then when we needed to accelerate from a red light it would lag and then finaly go and if you wanted to pass someone, impossible, you wohld floor it, it would downshift but not go faster

I also noticed that your car is also not at operating temperature. You can see the gauge is right at cold which could make the system back off on power.

These cars were made horrible to begin with my sister has a 2013 lt inline 4 like yours but a few years newer not one problem but the uconnect is bad because it was an early generation of it my grandmother has a 2012 ls has probably about 56,000 miles now also inline 4 no problems at all surprisingly except there is a faulty battery cover for the positive terminal and your battery naturally releases gasses it’s supposed to but it traps the gas and corrode the connection and the battery her battery was leaking so bad and the juice in it or whatever oxidized and swelled up and ate through her battery tray pretty much her meHCHS if told her how surprised he was and how lucky she was with her car but she drives it easy probably never over 5k rpm at most and never over 55 miles an hour headlights are corroded because of the sun which is typical and her sister has a 2012 ltz the knee with the pentastar v6 it has so many problems the transmission and engine makes grinding noises and there are just so many issues with this engine in the equinox and even in general look up problems with the older Buick enclaves and gmc acadias and Chevrolet Traverses I wouldn’t recommend buying but so far my sister hasn’t had any problems and my grandmother has had few compared to others

My is a 2012 equinox 36000 miles and keep doing tha same thing, n it turns off few times. It sucks, think oh GM is coming out with better cars , but they same sh%& cars then before. :(

same issue with my 2017 Chevy Cruze, I’m thinking it might be a transmission problem 🤷‍♂️ I can’t really do anything with it in the cold snow right now I’m just going to wait till the summer and stick with my 2001 Ford F-150 because that 01 ford is way more reliable then that 17 Chevy even though the Chevy is supposed to be younger and better The ford has over 160,000 miles on it and it runs way more reliable then the Chevy with only 48,000 miles on it, I don’t know how the fuck that’s possible

My very first issue was the transmission then the battery.. everything else was just recalls.. that I had repaired immediately no big deal. I notice that your car engine is cold that's a no no!! even though people say your car engine don't have to be warmed up and that you can just get in and go, thats a lie. You can not get in a 4 cylinder heavy SUV and try to push it to 55 or more. You shouldn't even do that in a small car.. I have this same car I learned from many other used hupties how a car can last even longer.. you were about to mess up that transmission and later the engine if you had kept trying to Accelerate on the freeway like that..

That happened to me in the highway. I had to pull over to the side. Turned it off for a little bit. And the same thing. I was going 25 mph till I got home. Parked it. Tried next day and it worked just fine. ...???? .... mine is a 2013. Anybody know the real problem ?

If your equinox is loseing power to every one out there it is your throttle body sincer because it a eco tex moter so if somethin goes wrong its goin to be a sincer throttle body sincer cost 190 dollars

Either you accidentally pushed the shift button that's on the side of the stickshift.. Or it could be your throttle body needs cleaning/replacing.. Had the same problem with accelerating

The air intake volve is dead. My 2018 Chrysler Sebring do the same thing. American cars suck, I should have listened to my little brother.

For everyone who’s having this problem, my 2013 Chevy equinox was going the same thing, y’all check the power steering pump and make sure there’s fluid in there. Add some fluid and the noise is going to go away.

Maybe learn to drive this car. first of all, it's not a race car, second if you're always peddle to the metal you're rpm are going to high and will blow the piston. it's not the car it's the driver. take better care of you're things, and they will last.
