Brian I truly enjoyed working with you when I was with asTech. Wish I could have spent more time with you. Hope you and your family are well, take care.
Nice to see a tech that knows what he’s doing many shops would turn this away and say we just don’t have the equipment to fix : Info some cars trucks have a fuel shut off when hit hard in accident safe device that would shut the fuel off
Brian I’m taking a CAN course next month offered by ATG but just now listening to you rattle off pins and values if you get a chance could you send them to me. I know a little bit with the 60 ohms and I have the breakout box from AESwave but just trying to learn and understand everything I can. Thanks buddy for sharing stay well.
I have a truck with similar issues (no gear shift light, flashing security light, and no communication). Any insight as to what would cause 0 volts between OBD pins 5 and 16? I have 12 volts between pins 4 and 16. I believe pin 5 is a ground back to the PCM? There is also no ground connection at the PCM relay terminal at the fuse block. Jumping the relay doesn't clear the security light, the com issue, or start the truck. I've already checked and cleaned the PCM ground connection G106. Thanks!
I found the main relay, that feeds the fuse you tweaked, was burnt. It’s gray colored furthest to the rear beside the starter relay 4 prongs. The lock 🔐 light went out and regained ecm comm starts and runz. Thanks for leading me that way?
Great find Brian.. i would have been going in circles with this one,I was under the assumption that if the sensors have the 5volt ref. PCM is alive and don't need to check powers and grounds. But like you said, it's a good thing your were using all of your resources.
GOOD ONE BRIAN THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME IT MEANS ALOT.......NOW THAT THE WORD LOOKS LIKE IT'S BEGINNING TO GET BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN HOPEFULLY, I AM TRYING TO CONTINUE WITH AGAIN TRYING TO GET BACK INTO SETTING UP MY FIRST TIME PROGRAMMING SETUP I NEED HELP. BRIAN IS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN GET HELP.
Brian You ever do ride alongside for a day to see how many places ya go to as a mobile guy? I’m wanting to go mobile I’m not to far from ya near Columbus
I have a 2008 F250. with 5.4 engine It will crank but not start. I can smell gas so its flooding. I replaced the fuel pump, the sensor on the fuel rail. the module that controls the fuel pressure at the rear of the truck (under/behind) the spare tire. I replaced the injectors. It spins over but does not start. I checked the emergency fuel shut off on the passenger side. Do you have any ideas' what else to look for. ? Thanks !!!!
Brian, great video. Breakdown and process of elimination was very helpful. I have a flood 14 F350 that I am trying to get new BCM programmed with Forscan. I get no communication with the truck. Checked pins at DLC and all seem to be good. Resistance and voltage is within ranges explained in your video. Any idea on what I can check to figure out why there is no communication ? Also, I checked the scan tool on another vehicle and it works fine.
@@BrianMann216 I believe it does network scanning. Not sure about the programming vs as built part. Yesterday I was able to get ahold of a gentleman who diagnosed a vehicle for me a couple of years ago. He thinks I need to start with a scan tool that gives more options then forscan although he too is not to familiar with the scanner. I will play with this within the week and let you know what I find out.
Hello sir nice information sir ihave problem with Ford focus st 2015 2.0 liter gdi engine this car no ignition no cluster lights I check all can bus is fine medem can ihave 61 ohm but I get high speed can iget 40 ohm I check also I can pin 1and 8 is fine iget 61 ohm can you any idea sir please
Excellent video, I’m having the similar situation with my 2008 f350, my Obd won’t communicate with the pcm. I’m going to check those fuses out this morning however, I noticed you in cleveland, OH what’s the name of your shop? I might have to get it checked out if I can’t figure this out. I’m a DIY guy. Thx!
Hi Brian, I am in desperate help. I have a 2008 Ford F-350. Battery is good, alternator is good, starter is good but truck will not gear in to D N or P, truck has no power at all. No lights on dashboard, no break lights, no head lights nothing. I turn key does not start, crank and no power at all. Any idea what it could be?
You soundblike younknow what your doing.. mybe you can help me.. i changed all my filters in 2014 ford f350 powerstroke diesel 6.7 truck then my dash said water in fuel , low power on dash 2 warnings ⚠️ i bleed the water separator underneath the truck on rail , had just Diesel fuel in it.. took to Dealership they said it needs the connector sensor to water separator $450.00 later dash still saying same 2 warnings OMG..😮 NOW DEALERSHIP SAYING I NEED CPM 😮😮 PLEASE ANY THOUGHTS, ANTHONY IN MASSACHUSETTS, THANKS..
I have a 2009 6.4 wipers came on randomly with washer fluid. Now the gauges and radio come on and off randomly and a can’t connect to the pcm. Any ideas?
Hey @Brian Mann, this video is awesome. I have been fighting with this exact same problem for over a week now. I have a 2009 Ford F250 5.4L and like this one my fuse 76 has no power. But relay 59 is not firing. It seems this is caused by pin 37 on PCM connector 175B not pulling low. I have tested and swapped the relay and that is good. 12V on the other side of the relay coil. I tested continuity with a meter from the relay connector to pin 37 on connector 175B and it is showing open. I assume it is corrosion in the Battery Junction Box but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the BJB so I can open it and fix the connection. Looking at the service manual, it doesn't reference any connector number for the BJB, does that mean the harnesses are hardwired to the BJB? Nothing in the service manual nor RU-vid nor the internet for removal of the BJB. Can you give me a clue on the process so I don't break something? Thanks in advance.
I dont know off hand about the BJB connectors. I will investigate and get back to you, I am assuming they do come apart (can't visualize it in my head?
@@BrianMann216 thanks so much for replying. I am at my witts end with this. I am at the point where I am scared of breaking something. Due to the location of the BJB, I am thinking the only way to disconnect the battery and starter cables must be from underneath (removal of the plastic driver side wheel well cover).
@@IceProducts you just jogged my memory a bit, I had a 13 or 14 f150 the ac relay would not turn on, ( controlled by the pcm) I had to pull the wheel well and get to it from there. Ended up a open circuit between Bjb and pcm, customer opted to run a wire as they did not want to pay for me to start into the harness.
have similar problem on a 2008 6.4 with recently replaced head gaskets so cab removal. Cab set outside in winter months before installing on to engine and frame. It is no crank no start, unable to read data port. Fuel pump not running with key on. Only thing that runs is the vacuum pump under hood by under hood fuse block if thats what its called Haven't checked wiring yet. (shows on top line) air bag, seat belt, battery. (bottom line shows) security lock that is flashing, then brake, abs, and check engine light. Have seen the display screen below show oil, water temp, check brake, skid warning, low fuel and doors that are open. The steering wheel accidently got turned guessing 7-8 times without being connected wondering it that will cause any problems? Helper got out of truck and forgot it was disconnected. Hope this is a fuse problem as well. I have checked the engine ground and the under passenger door ground with not luck yet. I have almost 12 v at batteries and only 10 or less at the passenger side fuse block have not checked the under hood fuse panel yet. Any suggestions appreciated not a ford tech.
