The drains at bottom of doors behind rubber seals also get filled with leaves. Doors will fill with water. Easy to clean out. Just push seal to side enough to see, and vacuum leaves out. A ton of water will drain out.
Mine was showing signs. Damp in both front floors. Had busted windshield replaced, and picked up car few days later with a pond! Thinking he could have cleaned those out since I mentioned the leaks! Thanks for the video. Gotta do it myself now
Thanks for the video - extremely insightful. Because I could not remove my wipers on my 2011 MKS, I started tinkering with getting to the drain without removing the top cover. It can be done and it is not difficult at all. Take the six screws from the top cover, and then you can pull out the hard plastic cover below it. 2 push screws in the middle, and the two clips on either side - just as you did in the video. You can then pull the hard plastic cover out, and bend the top cover at the corner, just above the drain vent. I removed the rubber drain grommet as well due to the horrendous design. Thanks again for posting the video - hoping that's all it is on my MKS.
I had a similar issue. instead of taking the wipers off and having to go through all of that. I popped the paneling up in front of the wipers by removing all of the push pins. This allowed me to raise the panel enough to use a blow gun off my air compressor and clear out all the gunk built up in there.
Great video. Was just cleaning out the 2010 MKS that I bought over the weekend and I noticed the floor was damp with no spots on the headliner, so it looks like I will be doing this procedure.
@@JustinFrascona I am guessing the little rubber drain pieces are to keep mice out, even though they are woefully ineffective. I ended up cutting the bottom of the rubber pieces to make the hole slightly bigger and cleaning them out in the kitchen sink. Hopefully that keeps leaves and crap from getting stuck in there.
I imagine my 2013 mkS I would be the same for drains n sun roof motors? Thanks for making the video. That motor job looks a lot easier DIY project than I’d expect. Usually anytime I do something myself, I run into problems. I try not to open my screen or roof so not to wear the motors out. Any idea what a local mechanic or dealer would charge ? Thanks again
I’ve read In the forms it’s about a 800 dollar job, never went to the dealer. I got the motor on Amazon for around 150. I believe it’s the same for all MKS not 100 percent certain thought I’m new to this platform.
There’s 2 drains that run from the back of the sunroof down to right under the rear tires. Those can get clogged too, it’s easier to clean those from the bottom under the car upside down.
