Did my first clutch today on my mams Peugeot 207 1.4 Petrol... this is the only video I needed to refer to. Took me 10 hours but with the LUK kit costing €70, €20 for oil and €5 for a large tin of brake clean I got away with the job done for less than €100. Most difficult parts for me were getting at the starter motor bolts deep down the back of the engine and also getting that plastic bracket (3 bolts) off that holds the gear linkages, no space to work and VERY awkward. Flywheel was in great shape (no hotspots, heat marks or grooves) as was the pressure plate, release bearing, clutch fork and the gearbox input shaft (zero play, rock solid 😁). Replaced all the parts obv but whoever had the car before must have rode the clutch when driving cause it was only the clutch friction plate that was worn and it was down to the bones... car had only just started occasionally slipping but I'm glad I got this done today. Liked that I didn't have to drop the subframe and could just rest the gearbox on it while I worked on the bellhousing & flywheel fitting the parts. The gearbox weighed more than I thought as well but luckily it didn't take long to get it lined up and back on. Kevin doesn't actually show fitting the clutch plate & pressure plate or the release bearing and greasing up the clutch fork & gearbox input shaft but all easy. The one thing I did do was buy a cheap flywheel locking tool on Amazon which I used to lock the flywheel with a bellhousing bolt before I fitted the pressure plate bolts and also a universal alignment tool (LUK kit doesn't come with one in the box), again cheap on Amazon. Job was a 100% success and in summary it's a job any competent car diy'er could manage I feel. Thanks a million Kevin for a fantastic video mate 👍
So this guy replaces a clutch on the floor in the rain with limited space and no padding on the floor with no help and he get it into a short video. Massive props to this guy I'll be doing this on the 2posts at work forget doing it on the floor
@@JamesSmith-oh6jr not needed, wheels and headbolts okay.. other than that just make sure they’re tight, torque wrench is such a waste of time…torquing every nut and bolt is for people not confident in their work
Replacing the clutch on the Peugeot 207 1.6 VTI model right now. pretty much the same. Just sucks that the gearbox removal isn't that easy, but after watching this video, it seems pretty good to just lean it away enough so you can get to the clutch and the throwout bearing. Great job dude, keep going!
You make it look like I can do it in lunch time. Thanks for the video. Will be doing my 207's soon. But being from South Africa I dont work on a car if it even looks like rain.

great video, got one of these to do wednesday, i've got 205, C2, 206 but not a 207, pretty much the same but a few more bits to remove.. thanks for the video..
@@WMCS dude, many thanks.. done in 4 hours and 45 minutes.. (faster than peugeot claim) i didn't take drive drive shaft out, although access to bolts would have been easier, but i'm lazy, and there crank sensor i removed before i broke it getting the box off. but to be fair a lot easier after watching your video, so thanks, please keep them coming it helped me no end, i knew was i was looking for when i started, thanks..
bigpimp347 Great feedback. Nothing quite like a completed repair. Bet the clutch pedal is all nice and smooth. If ever you need a job as a clutch fitter let us know. 💫🤙🏽
Thank you for the video ! Do you need any special tool to carry out the replacement ? how do you keep the clutch disc in position when you replace it? thanks!
Hello, nice job you do ! I also have a 207 1.4i and the typical steering rack motor failed. I wander if is hard to to change it myself (whole steering rack). I'm not a mechanic however I like this job and have the tools is just that I'm a bit scared because of the things I need to dismantle also the exhaust is in the way.
@@WMCS I dont think so :) Im just finishing my mechanical engineering degree-but i am no mechanic!!! Could i ask, my clutch just slips the odd time if i floor the throttle, and the bite point is at top of clutch pedal. Is it needing replaced or can it be adjusted?
Did a peugeot deisel 207 fun the bolt at front above slave cylinder were it only turns 1/4 of a inch then backs on to the DPF braket there was fun getting it out all done running the 6mm Alan keys bolts for the starter fun aswell cheers very good job .BMW tommow .
Great job on the video, really helpful! A small question I have is what was the oil you drained at the start after taking the wheel off? Thanks in advance!
Hi, i have a peugeot 207 active and am trying to remove the clutch pedal but can't seem to get enough clearance to remove the Bush to remove the clutch and brake pedal, any tips?
Is there any adjustment required for the clutch while swapping to new one or the hydraulic line adjusts itself? I will be doing it together with a subframe swap so would you do it same way? Firstly put it up then same process as you did but before unloading the gearbox from the frame i would take off exhaust connector then few screws for the frame, drop links after what swap it and screw it back, all rest then do as you did. I am asking because i may be missed something in the subframe swap process that would be required or there is something to do with it as you mentioned it is better when it is off on one side but if it is totally off then gear box would not be supported by top frame mounts. Is that all the subframe drop would be for? Is there steering rack connected to the frame? I doubt it is not so i have to reconnect that too probably and would that be all? Any advice?
great job , lovin' ya work!!! have a question you might be able to help with if possible. I have 2013 Peugeot 207 sw 1.6hdi which i'm going to attempt doing clutch on, and in the Haynes manual it says l have to drain cooling system and remove radiator assembly and exhaust system, it this necessary or just Haynes being over careful in case l damage those parts when removing gearbox?
That clutch job on 1.6 hdi is nightmare i m a mechanic and with all equipment it is a nightmare you should remowe a dpf filte only by one screw radiators must hanging because you need to remowe whole subframe down
nimrabuljak 1233 cheers for info but id just finished it. Had subframe out anyway as was putting new rack in aswell (torque sensor had mind of its own). Did have to drain cooling system and remove thermostat housing just to access top 2 gearbox bolts and the back, but didnt need to remove radiator. Need these videos to give me confidence to have a go though 👍😁😁
Are these clutches Self adjusting? Ive fitted on one a 2009 207, TU3A. Bite point is very high still and being told its because i didnt use a self adjusting clutch tool? just used the conical plastic clutch alignment tool. any ideas? thanks Video was very useful when i did the clutch.
Taylor D that’s completely incorrect. Self adjusting clutch only works as the pressure plate springs gets weaker and it slowly adjust. But that’s after years of driving. If biting point is still high you need to check the correct clutch was supplied. As there is two clutch kit that will fit. But slight difference in the thickness of pressure plate. You need to use an AP clutch.
Taylor D the part number will be correct. But I’ve experienced this issue first hand. In the 207. And the l07. LUK seems to have a slight difference don’t know why..
merry Christmas eve one,,,this xmas its the flywheel seal,,,god why didnt i change it last year,,,merry xmas KEVIN THANKS ONCE AGAIN,, only starter moto bolts ,,,when the rain stops lol,,or im going to get wet ,,
@@WMCS That would be amazing , we saw the C3 with the 1.6 hdi but it is a bit different the set up . Thanks for all the videos they are such amazing help
@@bendude6748 tomorrows the day bud,,, ,,pick up clutch kit in my home town Swansea 10 am, ,lol i could not have picked a worse timing for the weather this week. ,,but its really slipping now and it sounds like some of the clutch diaphragm finders are having contact with something stationary in the clutch housing ,,,,sounds like a lion or big cat continuously peering sound when power to 1st 2nd and 3rd gear ,, 4th and 5th much quieter ,,have you uncounted this on a pug 207 or any before mate ,thanks kez
Thanks the amount of plastic on bemmers and you have no room to move the engine has to be lifted out harf way it's the deisel model 4 years old .merc, audi, rangerover, discovarys, all have there Owen problems BMW mini the most amount of bolts to come out .very good video put more on sorry to see you get wet and snow on the day you changed the clutch.
It’s literally a few bolts mate, this lad is showing you the hardest thing to do which is open up the gear box, if you don’t know how to undo a few bolts you shouldn’t be attempting to do this atall.
