My mom was on Hospice, watched this game from a wheelchair in her pajamas and could hardly move as she was joined by all her kids and grandkids. During the beastquake she stood up and moved like it was years earlier.
Most people remember it was the 11-5 Saints getting upset by the 7-9 Seahawks.....What people don’t care to remember is Matt Hasselbeck led the Seahawks to a 4-2 start that season but then got injured and missed the rest of the regular season. Charlie Whitehurst took over the 4-2 Seahawks and led them to a 7-9 finish. It just goes to show you how valuable it is to have your starting quarterback all season. In reality, it wasn’t that big of an upset when both teams were healthy.
@@brad7566 Yes, they sure did. They started 13-0 the year before …. But that doesn’t mean they had the same “dominant” team in 2010. Losing to Seattle with a healthy Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback validates that!
@@kraisonpetrovdo7891 Seattle had the worst passing team because their backup quarterback who finished the last 10 games in the regular season, Charlie Whitehurst, SUCKED!! When a healthy Matt Hasselbeck returned, Seattle’s passing game caught fire once again.
Yeah but... the Bears wound up destroying them the very next week. This is why I don't like the NFL's current playoff system. Teams with losing records get in and then ruin the tournament if they happen to have a good game. Were these Seahawks actually a better team than the Saints that year? I think not.
Matt Hasselbeck caught lightning in a bottle this game. Charlie Whitehurst replaced Hasselbeck in the do or die game vs St. Louis Rams that determined which team will win the West at 7-9. Lol!!! I'll never forget Beastmodes's run. My voice was horse the next day at work. Lolol!!!
Seahawks have caused a lot of other teams traumatic playoff losses but on our side we suffered the most traumatic Super Bowl loss of all time against the Pats
Remember watching this game running around like crazy after beast modes run haha love rewatching old great Seahawks games. Hope we get back into the playoffs this year with a decent kicker. Go hawks!!!
One could argue this was Hasselbecks finest moment given everything he had dealt with. And yes, that includes leading this team to a SB during his tenure.
Although that 7-9 team ended up winning. And besides, the Giants won the Super Bowl the next year with a 9-7 record, the worst ever by a Super Bowl champion. A fact this Giants fan is very proud of.
If you want to see just why this game is perhaps the biggest and most unlikely upset in NFL history, just take a look at the 2010 Seahawks and their schedule-they played against a *WEAK* NFC West and an average AFC West, and they lost every game by more than 15 points. These Saints, who were the defending Super Bowl champions at the time, pretty much went one-and-done to a rebuilding team that usually would have finished 3-13 or 4-12 in any other season!
Thank you for posting this. Been looking for the full game for years! All I need to find now is the 2005/06 NFC Championship game against the Panthers.
you're welcome! and if you'd like to download the '05 NFC Championship, here's a link to do so - wetransfer.com/downloads/b5fa5c5dcc03cbf5e2b45770bfba1e2a20181102040157/344b22
man... this takes me back, was in high school at time. Remember all the shit they were getting but thought we might have a small chance with Hasselbeck returning. Was crazier than I could imagine, dude went all out in his final home game. And it was just the beginning of the insane Carroll era lol .
This was the start of the Pete Carroll era in Seattle the next year they started the legion of boom Earl Thomas, Cam, Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner. A defense that should’ve won at least two Super Bowls and maybe 3 if the leaders would’ve stayed the same this was also was the start of perhaps the best the NFC West would ever be the very next year the 49ers got Jim Harbaugh the Seahawks countered by getting Richard Sherman Sherman called Pete Carroll the best coach he had it’s fun to remember
Think about this: the 2010 and 2011 NFL season’s featured similar playoffs symmetry! You had the Seahawks in ‘10 and the Broncos in ‘11 right? Neither team had a winning season yet they both WON their divisions. Obviously Seattle had a losing record but Denver was 8-8. Then you have the WC games themselves which were both decided by a long-distance TD to end the game. Obviously “Beastquake” is the more memorable play, but I also vividly remember the Tebow to Demaryius Thomas TD as literally the first play of OT with the brand new NFL overtime rules. Crazy sports-symmetry.
I live in Spokane and that year the arena football team we had in Spokane hosted the championship game and won, I would’ve sacrificed going to that game to go to this one
I can't believe I was actually at this game. My buddy who I went with just passed away this year but we will always have this memory. Love you Buddy!!!
I remember watching this game cause I bet on the Seahawks. Didn't care for either teams. I just knew the Seahawks was gonna win. What I WASN'T EXPECTING was the BEAST QUAKE!!!
i am here when the 7-9 Washinton FOOTBALL TEAM host the 11-5 TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS IN THE WILD CARD' if WSH wins this will be remembered in a long time it' s also sat night
What's really frustrating is that this was the only year with Gregg Williams where the defense was our strong suite, and despite Gregg Williams doing great in the regular season, he made a complete fool of himself in this game against a 7-9 team and an offense that wasn't very good
1:31 NBC-a Congress woman has been shot we must inform the people NFL its playoffs the show goes on. NBA- fine we will just put it in captions but they have to know
I have a simple solution, don't watch the NFL then dumbass. If the regular season is so unimportant, find another sport to occupy your time. Complaining just shows you still give a shit.
Anthony Kernich dude it happens once in forever maybe a couple times a decade. All it means is every team in the division is rebuilding. And the reality is the Seahawks remained the most talented team in the division through their very quick 2008-09 “rebuild”. 2010 draft, trades and free agency were huge, and after they jettisoned Matt H for Tavaris Jackson (bad contract, their only real blunder in building the team), it was pretty apparent they were a QB away from a super bowl. They get Wilson, get rid of Flynn, and boom they were a SB team. They would have been better in 2011 than 7-9 with Hasselbeck at QB. Would have also been nice to have him teach russell wilson
Only leading up to this game, and only because some teams with better records could not get into the playoffs because they were not the best team in their respective Divisions. However, after this game nobody cared because this was an EPIC game and it also featured one of the most amazing plays in NFL history. Since this game there has been 2 or 3 other years where a team with a losing record won their Division and got to host a playoff game and nobody cares about the losing record thing anymore because of this game.
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
I do not and never have understood why the TV keeps showing Pete Carroll all of the time?? Show the game and then show a bunch of that guy and talk about why he is so great. Personally I do not care for him after what he did to USC!! He had them involved in countless NCAA violations causing the program endless penalties. He knew exactly what was going on and when the feces started hitting the fan he took off!! Chicken Pete; a total bum. He may be a good coach but he has little character in my opinion.
And? At least the Seahawks exceeded expectations and won an exciting game. The Bares underperformed as usual and their crabby QB quit on the team the week after that..
