Appreciate this! Had this same exact issue and it’s way cheaper!

This video was fine until we got to cutting the factory connector and stripping the different wires. I was confused by wiring in the speaker. Each time he said "connect the outer two wires". I'm not sure how all four wires can be the outer two. Everything was beautiful except for this but I can't figure out how to do the wiring in without more clarity. The connector looks like 4 in-line. There is a red and black from the speaker. What goes to what? Do you remember? Thanks!

I think he was saying the outer 2 wires feed from the radio and the inner 2 go to the tweeter. So take the outer one and the inner one next to it and twist those together so that the tweeter gets power. He didn't talk about polarity. Speakers sound better if you match them the same on each side. So match the dots with the wire and go to the same color on each side. Speakers usually have a DOT or a color dot on one of the soldered connectors. Keep them matched the same on each side. It's possible that the 4 ohm speakers are connected in series on the factory, making the pair of them have 8 ohms. By twisting the wires together and connecting in parallel, if both speakers are 4 ohm, then you'll get 2 ohm resistance. BUT, that being said, it will probably sound fine and not blow up the radio amp. These aren't high-output speakers for a large speaker array. See this for OHM information... mesaboogie.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218267437-What-is-the-best-way-to-connect-speakers-or-cabinets (I haven't cut the original plugs to the speakers open to examine how they are connected. It may be that twisting together is exactly the same as factory. The polarity is also not a big deal. You'll not hear the difference in a car.

If you don’t get the polarity correct then the phasing of the speakers will be out causing a loss of bass output. One speaker will be “cancelling” the other out. Don’t forget sound is all about moving air. Also if you put a lower impedance load on the amp it will have to work harder and possibly cause problems. Impedance should always be noted. Resistance is always important in all electronic equipment it’s there for a reason.
