Installing lowering springs on a 2011 SS Camaro

Use spacers if you want but be warned. All of those bad things you hear about them. They can happen!!!!!
In this video I had some really cheap wheel spacers that I once had on my GMC Sonoma. just to see if they were worth the look. had them on the car for about a week. They were soon replaced by

Fast Forward 1 year. One of the front spacers sheared off 4 of the 5 studs! almost lost my front right wheel!
That being said I am still running the rears with spacers and as soon as I can afford it I will be purchasing either another set for the front. or new rims with proper offset for all 4 corners

2:06 The nut looks like a crimp top locking nut. I would blue thread lock it or buy new ones so they dont have the possibility of working loose. Nice vid, thanks

I don't know about the two hour? It took me closer to 4 hours? Had a little trouble with 2 bolts in the back inside corner? Pretty tight space. Plus I didn't have an impact drill for front top strut bolt? But other than the small details, he's pretty spot on! Good video 👍

i just did this ( also added 25mm spacers) to my 2014 ss vert, wish i saw this video before hand. biggest problem was the sway bar end links. its crucial to take those off and put them on in the right order or its a total pain. im still not sure when that is lol

Tony... I just typed in 2011 camaro lowering springs and this video was the first I came across. Great job man. Your dad would be proud of you keeping the hobby alive! I'll be putting springs in my old mans camaro soon too... just gotta save up. The BTR cam, wheels and zl1 sway bar were not cheap lol. -Mario

@@thawkproductions4248 lol spent a lot of time in that garage back in the el Camino days. Took me a second but after I realized I could totally tell it was you. Pretty conservative tune but 460 at the rear wheels- nothing like my brothers evo. Did you time your bushings or get it aligned since doing the drop? I’m really looking at pdaft or hotchkis springs... I know a few guys who are happy with btr too.. I got back and forth on just saving for coil overs too

@@Mario-ps3rw didn't get an alignment or anything and haven't noticed any difference in tire wear. Within like less than 2 years 1 of my 4 springs broke and it took hotchkis 6+ months to send a new one, so now I have the hotchkis fronts and BMR rear springs.. I didn't do coils just because this is my winter car I wasn't gonna spend money on a nice track setup for that. Otherwise I'd have done coils

@@Mario-ps3rw I've been driving the Miata for like 5 years now along with the motorcycle, and recently picked up a c6 z06. So next year will be lots of speeding ticket fun 😂 The Camaro is just a reliable fun vehicle and with snow tires it goes surprisingly good

Do you know the torque specs for each? On front top reassembly, is certain alignment to be concerned with?

No alignment issues to worry about. What torque are you after?

So I'm getting to lower my 14 SS to 1.5 and did you have to use a spring compressor when you swapped them out?

I didnt because there isn't tension on the spring when its out of the car (on a 10-13), 14 should be the same but I would do a quick google and make sure that 14s aren't under tension. Just to be safe

Do you need to get a wheel alignment once done? What difference in ride and handling have you noticed?

No Alignment necessary. I can't feel a huge difference in ride quality which id day is good, not super stiff or bouncy. It might just be mental but I think it rolls less on turns. All I know for sure is that it looks a lot better

It is always recommended to get an alignment when you work on the suspension, replace your tires or hit something or wreck. It is recommended to align your vehicles at least once a year.

lb/ft, 52 for the top nut on the strut and 59 +180° for the two that hold the knuckle on in front Assuming that's what you're after

This is so stupid to drop the Camaro down and expose it to curb parking stop rashes and hitting the bumper nose on a steep driveway. I’d rather get taller tires to fill the wheel well gap but that’s just me being practical for a change
