I have a 2012 Chevy Malibu LS. I was wondering did you retain your steering controls with the C2R-GM11 adapter? Also did the radio have XM radio? I want to keep all my controls and chimes.
For this install we opted out of the steering wheel controls (no xm radio)....there should be two options to retain the controls though 1. Buying the additional module to wire into the harness (this I heard is tricky) 2. There should be a combination wire harness that you can buy that already integrates the steering controls
I have a 2012 malibu with the bose system would u happen to know the wire harness needed for it ? To keep the steering controls also If so I'd greatly appreciate ur help . Ur video was the only 1 I found even remotely helpful
I honestly dont know about this vehicle and the bose system but checkout this link www.crutchfield.com/g_103000/Wiring-Harnesses.html , it ahows wire harnesses for your specific car read ech description each harness only works with certain radios.....for the steering controls looks like you will also need the $100 black box item on that link....hope this helps
Can u link sites to the wiring harness and radio also how good is sound quality? I want to run subs in my car so I don’t want a suuuuper chess head unit but also am too poor to buy the one I want 😂😂
I bought the wiring harnes as a local car audio store but the harness is made by Pac and model number is C2R-CM11.... the radio I installed is in my sisters car and she is very happy with the sound quality, I have not installed subs with this radio yet, but in my last vehicle I also did not want to blow the bank on a head unit so I bought a BOSS audio unit and it workes great with my subs, hope this was helpful
If you bought the wire harness it will come with a diagram or color key code, if you are cutting the connector in your car to splice the wires, I would match color to color the best you can, red is typically power, then yellow is either ACC power or illumination, organge is the other one (either ACC or illumination)
I bought the wiring harnes at a local car audio store but the harness is made by Pac and model number is C2R-CM11.... The dash kit brand was PAC and its called a "dash install kit" if your installing a touch screen you want it to be a "double din" dash kit , the single din are for the small rectangle radios......I looked on amazon and you should search "cars make model dash install kit" the metra brands should work as long as you confirm it fits your specific vehicle.........I found a link to a specific one that will fit 2011 chevy malibu here :www.caramps.com/product /4W9Q82YE
If you purchased the wiring harness and wired it to the radio they should work as intended without doing anything extra, if they are not working the radio might be faulty
@@nick4is2lit0 do you need the USB cord plugged in for the Apple car play to work and with music. My USB is with the stereo factory stock and will be gone once I take the radio out. I notice this radio and most don’t have a front USB. Thanks!
@@ryanlister6614 This radio I installed jas apple car play, in order for that to work you phone does have to be plugged into the USB in the new radio, the factory plug does not affect the apple car play on the new radio as long as the new radio has apple car play.........This radio also does not have a front facing USB plug in comes out the back on a small extension, I placed the connection in a spot you can get to (not easily haha) but it works
@@ryanlister6614 no i brought it down the side of the console, plugged in a charging cord and bought it up near the driver seat so its hidden and out of the way

The exact kit I bought is not on amazon the brand was PAC and its called a "dash install kit" your installing a touch screen you want it to be a "double din" , the single din are for the small rectangle radios.......I looked in amazon and you should search your cars "make model dash install kit" the metra brands should work as long as you confirm it fits your specific vehicle
When you buy the harness for your vehicle it will be plug and play on the vehicle side, for the radio side you will have to splice the wires, the wire harness will come with a color coded diagram.....typically though red and or yellow will be power wires, orange is illumination, blue is remote wire for an amp (remote turn on when radio is on), you will then have 2 purple, 2 green, 2 gray, two white these are all speaker wires, if there is a black wire this iz your ground
@@kevintabora8022 hey Kevin sorry it took so long to respond but the items used for this are as follows (wire harnes) catalog.pac-audio.com/catalog/radio-replacement/c2r-gm11 , PAC C2R-GM11 .................www.amazon.com/Metra-95-3302-General-Motors-DDIN/dp/B000K4V4WY/ref=asc_df_B000K4V4WY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=316634728555&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10488079365356008054&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032537&hvtargid=pla-609222886783&psc=1 , this is the plastic radio install kit this is a metra 95-3302 , you can google ones that fit they have multiple different brands for these but always double check it fits your specific vehicle just in case
