We test drive the new 2011 Jaguar XJ to see how the new four door compares vs the 2009 xj. We had the privilege to review this 2010 pre-production version of Jag's new luxury sedan.
Thanks for the feedback. This was actually the very first video review we ever did. We just drove out to the dealership, grabbed the car and filmed it in a couple hours without any real preparation. We've learned a lot these past few years...so I hope you'll give us another chance to influence your ultimate happiness..:) Steve
@TastyOther - Youre absolutely right. We had an in-depth, detailed and articulate script describing all of this magnificent machines features But we decided to go with the rambling script instead for entertainment purposes. Thanks for the feed back Steve
Just got back from the Jaguar dealership and this car is absolutely amazing. I went to go look at an XK supercharged and saw this there in a wine color. It is downright stunning. It makes the Bentley and everything else around it look like a dog. There was an Aston Martin droptop a few feet away from this and I barely noticed it. The interior is just stunning. The "base" XJL comes fully loaded at about $80K which is downright cheap. It destroys the S, the 7 and the A8 and I know, I have an S.
If you have an iphone/android then you can play your music, internet radio etc through the bluetooth connection. Your phone can stay in your pocket or bag and the music will still play. Unlike some other cars where you need to connect it to a cable or a socket. Love the Jag XJ interior.
i question the fuel economy statement he made. when i saw the data it was very low but maybe that was just the super sport version. but the interior of this car is goddly and the designers deserve a raise, the interior is what sold me and Im a Cadillac guy
See it in the flesh, it's awesome. The rear lights (if you look badryuken) emulate a cats claws scratching downwards whilst pursuing an antelope (Jaguar). It's a fantastic sporty car. Whether it can match a BMW or an Audi for reliably remains to be seen. I'm a Brit, and would love one because its built here, albeit with Ford money. However, I'm an old geyser now and will buy myself a BMW 5 Series. a) The new one has conventional but ageless looks. b) I know it will be totally 100% bombproof.
Modern diesel engines , especially the bigger ones with 6 and 8 cylinders are just as refined and quiet as the modern petrol engines. And sometimes, they even sound better. I bet none of the people who thumbed your comment up never even sat inside a diesel car, and i bet 90% of them wouldnt notice they're being driven in a car with a diesel engine.
@archmichael04 - Sorry you didn't like it. It was actually the very first video we ever did. Maybe, if you watch some of our other videos you might find some that you actually do enjoy. We hope so. Luckily, a bunch of other people did/do enjoy it. So, to each their own. Thanks for checking it out any..:) - Steve
They need all wheel drive ASAP. That's the only reason they're not selling better. They're almost perfect, except for that. It snows for 4-5 months here in Wisconsin, and people don't want the hassle of changing to winter tires. I see JLR has it in the pipeline.
@manoda303 6 options: Standard wheel base $72,700. Standard Wheel base Supercharged $87,700. Standard Wheel base Supersport $110,200. Long Wheel base $79,700. Long Wheel base supercharged $90,700. Long Wheel base supersport $113,200
@ToRoNtOGuYY he meant the interior amenities are comparable to that of a bentley continental flying spur, ie. the full leather dashboard, two-tone interior leather hides, etc. jaguar is high-end, but there are cars out there that are in a league above
@InmyJag I do. An X-type manual. Grips the corners with claws, soft like a luxury car. Bit unreliable but you've got to make a sacrifice for driving enthusiasm.
Hey there, I was going to offer you some tips on reviewing but I realised at the end that you are actually a car dealer and are advertising the cars rather than "reviewing". I was going to suggest add more about handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer and balance, ride roughness, and put forward intelligent criticisms, but I guess that wouldn't be too smart if your trying to sell the thing. Anyway, good luck and keep up the good work, Regards Ali Sydney, Australia
@KatiushaVN4 "The XJ Diesel is also the quietest vehicle in its class for exterior noise, with the noise level measured by the Vehicle Cerification Agency being seven decibels (A) lower than the EU legal limit for diesel vehicles."
YESS!!!!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!! FINALLY A CAR THAT IS SUPERCHARGED!!!!!!! AND NOT TURBO CHARGED!!!!! THAN YOU TATA MOTORS!!!! Why don't any other cars use superchargers though, in the long run, they are better, they provide power through all RPM ranges. It is really getting pretty annoying with BMW and Audi saying in every commercial the Twin Turbocharged m3.................Twin turbo charged this, that, blah blah blah.
@absolutinspire Oh, and a spike traction system? I'm not sure what you're talking about, but in our state, studs are illegal. You can only have winter tires here.
@circelliman - Wow… I’ve finally graduated to “baller” status! You’re waaaay too kind. But just so you’re not confused… The Jag XJ really is “affordable luxury”. That’s what car payments are all about. Thanks for watching..:) Steve
@willilau2006 - Actually she was quite comfortable that day... It was sunny and mild outside and the AC in the Jag worked just fine. But thanks for your concern. It really is an awesome car isn't it?! ...:) Steve
@E27000 hope you'll like it and have fun with it. BY the way did you lease it or buy and how much are paying a month for it? -respect that you like jaguars, but i'd rather have a bmw.
@xyzmr100 - Actually I can read..! You are right though... I didn't clearly communicate the exquisite beauty of this voluptuous machine. It's clearly one of the more vivacious examples of automotive engineering on the road today! Sorry about that... I'll endeavor to do better next time..:) - Steve P.S. Unfortunately I don't have any chickens at the moment,,, which has severly dampened by egg selling activities. But I did sell three fleas that could juggle bowling balls at the last market!
@rentyotboy - That's Mr. Lilliputian to you... and it's spelled with two L's...:) Let's just say the XJ seats five lilliputians quite comfortably... and five taller people too. Thanks for checking our video out..:) Steve
@atami210 I understand what you're saying, but there are more people than not who prefer not to be swapping tires every year. I have two friends I work with with BMW 5-series. The one with RWD says he's never buying a RWD car again. Rims, tires, the whole thing is a pain for him and costs extra every year. The other with the X-Drive says, "I love this car." I know everyone's different, but the people who like AWD are in the majority in this class in this climate. Ask our dealers.
@absolutinspire It can be an option. Ask our dealships here in Wisconsin why the Jags aren't selling. People love them, but all of their competitors have all wheel drive. People ponying up that much money here in Wisconsin for a year-round car will usually pop for AWD. You should see the Infinitis, Mercs, Bimmers and so-on. Mostly AWD here.
@vangavangavanga1 That is great news for Jaguar. It's Indian money behind it, but British designed, developed and built in the UK so full order books mean secure jobs. I think its the first executive car of its class for a long time that can match a big Mercedes or BMW in terms of technology, performance and quality. And judging by the reviews I've read, more exciting to drive. It's a fine car.
@InmyJag I do. :D ('94 XJ40) I love pretty much all Jags. I'm not thrilled about the MK series though except the MKII. I love that. But other than that from the SS100 to the 2012 Jags I love 'em all!
Yes that is true, and I'm not knocking off the jaguar because it is a good car, but the Rapide is better quality and better looking then the Jaguar. Besides, so what the back is snug. Does the owner ever plan to sit in the back of his own sport car? I don't think so.
@PirateGamARRR - Yes I am wearing your Grandfathers pants! He said he decided not to wear pants anymore so he gave me the pair he was wearing. Glad we had the same waist size...:) Thanks for noticing. Steve
@KatiushaVN4 Actually, you dont know what you're talking about, same as all the people who thumbed up your comment. Diesel engine in the Jag is actually quieter than the V8. Weak as hell? Did you even get close to a modern diesel engine? Do you know what torque is? Modern turbo-diesel engines feel much more powerful than figures would suggest. Drive a 300 hp diesel and then sit inside a 300hp petrol, and you'll feel like you just sat inside a car with 30% less power.
@fishelfinder No they dont this isnt a tacky audi.. Jaguar is selling at $2000 a spike traction system which will fit even 20" rims looks awesome is like having a Bond car..
@techntravel - Hmmmm... I'm sensing "anger" issues here...:) Since you obviously didn't like it... you don't owe us a penny for viewing it! Our imaginary "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" comes to the rescue once again!!! P.S. Just to resolve your internal conflict here... It was an actual video we made, posted and you watched. Now you can go back to watching your cartoons...:) Steve
jaguar has always been known 4 beautiful cars and good suspension to back it up but they have always been slow on the technology think they have got the tech down now the cat still prowls
@kusmake - Thanks! You might be on to something here though... Maybe I should just call it a "Jag" and not suffer the consequences of my "USA Accent"..:) Hmmmm.... I "reckon" I might just do that in the next video..! - Steve
@tubeyou443 - Or maybe even "sell" them!!!! Darn keyboards... Ha. Thanks for the compliment. Keep watching cuz we have a lot more in store for ya! :) Steve
@charleyswar sure, and camaro is pronounced cah-mero, not cah-maro. and its porsch-uh not porshh.these little pronunciation deficiencies are just the way it is. no use trying to change them.
You can, but your still wrong. Not a Jagwar. Its a Jaguar, as the animal it's named after is called. There is no W but their is a U. Like calling your House a Howse.
