@thegraggs The Outlander Sport desperately needs a turbo and a standard gearbox and sporty suspension set-up. The car has tons of potential and I'm surprised that Mitsubishi didn't add a bit more Evo DNA to the mix. If it looks like an Evo and it has the world "Sport" proudly displayed on the back...in my book it should be sporty....or is the word "Sport" just so much marketing jargon?
It's not meant to be fast, it is sporty for a CUV, great gas mileage, good looking body, and is a perfect fit for the younger generation that isn't searching for 3 or 400 horsepower. I would but this car over any other CUV.
This car in AWD trim is a beast offraod. I have driven on aggressively off roar and it went whever the jeep I was following went thorugh some pretty steep terrain. This vehicle follows Mitsu's rally focused vehicle design and is not concerned with how fast it is in a straight line. I highly doubt you are much of a test driver but any time you want to find out what it can do in the turns/offraod I will let me know and I will put you in the passenger seat through some canyons in south OC.
I really wish they'd put the 2.4 in it. Leave the 2.0 for the Lancer, 2.4 in the Outlander Sport, and keep the Outlander only a V6 and not offer the 2.4 on the base model. It would be a much more competitive vehicle in it's segment. I sell Mitsubishis and the biggest complaint I get is that they are underpowered, while the customers love all the other features of them. It's a shame that they almost had the best vehicle in the segment, but it's let down by a straining powertrain.
@wasdom01 Not a bias review at all..the guy is very fair, and was just pointing out the obvious flaws with the car. This CUV is way too underpowered and slow compared to the competition ( I.E., a Nissan Juke will smoke it, so will a Honda CR V). And the quality of materials on this cuv also falls short of the competition as well.
I bought this car a month ago. And let me tell you it's not slow at all. You need to get used to it's gas pedal that is all. Or you can use manual pedal shifters. Plus the price of this car is amazing for what you get! Warranty best in it's class!
Hi Sir, Just a question. What makes a Subaru XV Crosstrek better than this car? I see that your complain here is the lack of power. The XV share the same power. This car has better interior than the XV. You said that the XV has the worst interior (or at least your companion said). BTW, the paddle shifter will allow you to accelerate faster. Please answer me because I'm confused. You loved the XV but you hate this car? hmm..
I've seen most of this guy's review and I should say he doesn't like "Mitsubishi" brands at all. Even if he compares a shopping cart to any Mitsubishi cars from 0-60 dead start....granted that he will appreciate the shopping cart more than the car.
I have the Mitsubishi RVR se model with standard 5 speed and I have had it five days it has 350 km on it. in the video it shows the car revs at 5000 rph, miles at 40mph I do not go over 3000 rpms change the gears . on the highway I use the 5th gear and it revs at a little over 2000 and the car is going 60 mph. no noise I am very happy with the performance . I drove a Chrysler town country before, and also Mustang Ford 5 liter . this is a different vehicle the gas is going up have you herd.
@romanmicagearguy I think you miss the entire point of the car. This vehicle is designed to be an efficient appliance, and you should review it with regard for these goals. Having a turbo would defeat its intended purpose even if it gave you more to talk about in a review.
I think he gave a fair-ish review at first. The engine noise did not match what was going on though. Somebody took too much creative liberty with the editing, which made the video seem biased. See I barely know anything about this car, but read the specs. 150hp, 3200lb car. Little 2.0. That's what it is. Use your head instead of getting wrapped up in a label. It's like complaining about a grand cherokee not being as grand as it sounds. I would expect a car reviewer to know in advance what 150hp is capable of in a cvt driven vehicle. Otherwise, enjoyable video :D
Think you got carried away on the Sport name its called Asx in other countries and it main priority is fuel economy. In uk the main engine is the diesel as petrol is double the US price. Iy gets real world economy of high 40's which none of the competition can manage while still cracking 10 secs for the 0-60
@romanmicagearguy you are definatley correct, compared to other crossevers such as the 200 hp turbocharged vw tiguan this crossover is really lacking muscle.
@romanmicagearguy well in other countries its called rvr and asx only in us its called outlander sport and its a v4 with not turbo and its not wallawy iv drove it in two wheel drive it drives ike a car and even saloons have body roll but this car has loads of grip and in 4wheel drive it has much better traction and by the way its made for safty and effieciancy :)
@romanmicagearguy You're right, i like the size and the look of this car, but after testing it, i was disapointed by the lack of power and by the cvt transmission, one good thing, should to add a ralliart version, maybe in the future. Thanks for the review.
Sir, you did 0-60 tests for few cars at mile high elevation and reported the following results:12.72 s (at 2:08 in that upload) for the Outlander Sport with CVT; 13.4 s (at 3:13) for the CX-5 with auto transmission. Even though CX-5 was slower you label the CX-5 in every relevant upload as sporty and blast the Mitsubishi. Interestingly, the Honda CRV with 185HP only achieved 14.8 s in your test (see at 4:02) but you did not label the CRV as slow either. Do you call this unbiased reporting?
In Europe it's called the Mitsubishi ASX. Sporty? Neeh. but it can give you some torque with the 2L turbo diesel in it. It delivers about 318 NM and 152 bhb. And lower mpg hwy ofc. Have one myself ;) good car so far
@romanmicagearguy Considering you weren't testing in ideal conditions, i doubt you did reach the 31 mpg. Snow and ice i don't believe are set up on the EPA mileage course. Also, the attempts to reach Ferrari 458 accerlation numbers, probably didn't help either. Next time lets test the passenger room of a Porsche 911 against a Honda Odyssey. Or the mpg ratings of a Toyota Prius (hybrid), against a Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. Compare it against its segment, then you have room to complain.
@jzy0104 if you have seen mitsubishis commercials they tested outlander and outlander sport on snow and said its still sporty and it alot of power but it doesnt
If you would just spend as much time actually reviewing the vehicle as you do trying (epically unsuccessfully) to be cute, your reviews would be so much better.
@3:25. Based on the biased review you gave on this car I think you just qualified yourself for being named Bob Armstrong among the car testers (using your own analogy).
just one word: FAIL great CUV, great gas mileage, great interior quality, great handling, this is not a rally car, or a drag racing car this is a CUV! geez...
every review i watch of this car they say the same thing, looks sporty but underpowered, dissapoints, doesn't deserve its "sport" badge, gives off an image it cant own up to.
Did you also review all of the available SUV's (SPORT Utility Vehicles) to determine just how SPORTY they are? Dumbest review ever? So "sporty" to you equates to straight line acceleration??? Talk about a dinosaur past its prime; you need to get a Buick and just do what every man your age do - drive slow.
