DUDE! Well done. That is some of the best troubleshooting that I have seen. You are also the only person that I have seen use the headlight trick. A friend told me about that probably 25 years ago and it works great, but I have never heard of anyone else using that. Despite the fact that my P0882 is on a 2019 Grand Caravan, an amazing amount of your truck situation is directly applicable, the TIPM looks identical. Thanks for the knowledge injection!!

goof find reminds me of a 69 Ford meteor I bought in the Yukon working on highway trucks for Whitepass transport , I noticed brand new alt and battery and regulator on the 302 CID ,week later went to start it ... nothing , it was about 45- out side , but I did hear sparking noises coming from the main harness connector on the fire wall near my left foot , got a car interior heater , and pulled apart the large connector ,the 10 gauge connector was fried , the connector was a 14 gauge ,so i crimped them together ,had that car an other 3 years .

We had a 03 Ram snowplow truck. The mice absolutely loved to chew on the wire loom. But they keep going to chew up the wires to the point that I also had to replace the entire harness. I later read that Daimler (who owned Ram at that time) used a plant based composition in the manufacture of their wire looms. That is what attracted the mice to bypass all the other vehicles and focus on the Ram.

My 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi has exactly same set of codes for transmission. Thank you for making this video.

Headlamp substistuted for fuse in a shorted circuit is an excellent idea. I wonder if aftermarket has a nice compact tester that would be a little easier to use.

there are some testers out there but I pefer the headlight myself. I am actually thinking of building a tester with various load test capabilities ie 100 to 200mA, 3-5 Amps and 10 to 15amps with a built in voltmeter and amp meter.

@@PhillipBailey I was thinking along the same lines for the tester and retain a lite for a visual check and possibly some variable audio signal so you can hear how strong the short is.

Had the same problem and cut a hole in the floorboard and made it flange and screwed it back or riveted it

That's definitely not going to happen in my shop. On this vehicle where the problem was you would have had to take the entire dash out. It would not have saved any time and it's very sketchy in my opinion. Especially on a customer vehicle.

My step dads truck has a similar issue, p0750 and p0822 I inspected a wire that was frayed. If I inspect find and fix the wiring harness will it take his truck out of limp mode? It drops really hard into drive and reverse. He isn't employed anymore and I don't want to buy parts that I might not need. The code p0750 is cleaning it's a bad solenoid. Would a short cause it to be in limp mode?

A short could cause limp mode but so can an open circuit. Start by checking the fuses and then look for damaged wires. These are also common for solenoids to fail inside the transmission. Unfortunately there's no silver bullet I can offer. Needs diagnosis of the circuits.
