Taking a closer look at the differences between some of the most popular 2011's to see which 2011 is the best.
The Staccato P, Staccato XC and Atlas Athena have become some of the most popular 2011's and for good reason. But we often get asked if the XC or Athena are worth it over the P.
In this video we give you a closer look at some of the differences between these guns, and see how they stack up.
Quick side note on accuracy: I did test each gun at 25 yards but forgot to add the footage in editing. The XC gets better marks on accuracy simply due to the 500 yard shot I made with it in our previous video.

Having shot an XC and Athena back to back. The XC was far superior in shootability to me, subjectively I preferred the feel and ergonomics as well.

What’s your take on side car holsters vs Separate for 2011s? Might be a good video idea 🤷. Never carried anything larger than a Glock 19/p365 Xmacro. Ordered an XC a few weeks ago and honestly want to EDC it. Everyone says once you shoot a good quality 2011 all the striker fire pistols end up rotting in the safe 😂.
@hammerarmament
@hammerarmament 24 дня назад
@@johngreen220 good question. That actually will be a topic of an upcoming video. But the gist of it is that I prefer separate rather than sidecar. We did make sidecar holsters for a small period of time but no longer do. Individual pieces is a bit more versatile in my opinion, and can work in a greater variety of circumstances. It’s easier to scale up or down when they are separate for example. We will go into further detail in a future video.

Love the content! The dry humor and midwestern accent are like peas and carrots and always make me chuckle. Not to mention the wealth of information you deliver. I bought a P after watching your XC review, kinda wish I had just gone for the XC after shooting a friend’s. Also had some reliability issues with the P unfortunately.

@@hammerarmament Double feeds and generally erratic ejection. Also was having loaded rounds pop out of the magazine and eject along with the spent casing. Also super inconsistent lock back on an empty mag. Just got it back from Staccato and they replaced extractor and tuned the slide stop so hopefully it'll be better now. My department just approved them for duty use and I would say about 30% had issues during transition course (on already broken in pistols). I made it to 1500 rounds before I got frustrated enough to send it in. Kinda killed my confidence in it for duty use as well.

@@MagDumpGuns thanks for taking the time to share this. I appreciate it. From what I’ve heard, staccato does have great customer service. I’ve never had to use it though. All of our staccatos have run exceptionally well. It occurred to me during editing of the B Roll for this video that I haven’t cleaned the P since I first got it several thousand rounds ago. But it’s good to hear about of issues other folks have had, if only to be aware of potential problems to watch for. Hopefully your gun is sorted out now.

@@hammerarmament We have definitely had a few that have been run hard with no issues so I see the potential (especially when they consistently get lubed). Hopefully I'll go out this weekend and see if everything got ironed out

I own the P, XC, and an Atlas Titan (5") and love them all! You are correct about the law of diminishing returns, not sure the Atlas is worth the extra money, but it's an AMAZING pistol and for me worth the money! BTW, I have little bitch hands and don't have any issues with any of these guns. I did put short triggers on each of them. Great video, thanks.

Having shooting my new xc, P and the atlas nemesis i actually prefer the xc. I feel personally it checks all boxes between carry and competition. I guess im a loser because i choose to run irons and enjoy the challenge but to each their own😅. Nice coverage on the guns tho.
@hammerarmament
@hammerarmament 5 дней назад
Ultimately, everyone has to make their own choices based on their needs/desires but hopefully this video serves to help guide them, rather than take my opinion as gospel. The XC checked those same boxes for me for a several years and it is such a fun pistol that you can’t really go wrong with it. There are enough areas of my own shooting skill that challenge me though and I prefer not to add iron sights to that list. More power to ya for sticking with the “old ways”. 😉

I absolutely love my XC. Kitted with Leupold DP Pro and Surefire X300U. It runs so freaking fast. I have also mag dumped my carry ammo by not paying attention to which mag I was running. Sigh. +P+ is spicy and fun though!

@milspecmike8440
@milspecmike8440 15 дней назад
Good info but one thing, the standard P is a 4.45” barrel, the older 2019 and newer Heritage Ps (with full length dust covers) are 4.15”. Doesn’t make a ton of difference but that’s at least what they advertise. That said, I’d love an Atlas but it’s hard to justify the difference in cost, I have a P I use in 3 gun and a new C on the way, those are hard pills to swallow pricewise but they shoot so much better than the next step down that I’ve felt they are the sweet spot for price/performance or as you said, the laws of diminishing returns.
@hammerarmament
@hammerarmament 15 дней назад
@@milspecmike8440 good catch. My brain was stuck on the original model but the current standard P is longer, as you said. The threaded version is longer still.

Bro I love your holsters and your videos. But who has ever compared an XC to an Athena? Wouldn’t the better comparison be XC to Erebus? Do u want to borrow mine? lol.
@hammerarmament
@hammerarmament 24 дня назад
I mentioned that in the video but edited it out for time savings. That is the more logical comparison, but I’ve been asked about these guns a lot. Like, enough times that I spent a week writing, filming and editing to address it. 😂 I think it’s mostly due to price point rather than features, that people ask about those two. I would like to eventually spend some time with a Sandhawk, Erebus and XC and see how they stack up.

Ei.. men nice vid and good comparison. There is one video that ive watched, and he said why u have to choose Altas oves Staccato is the fact that Atlas is hand fitted pistols and Staccato is mass production, he also mention thats Staccato will wear off faster. And if it wears off faster then you endin up buying parts or another pistol. Where Atlas pistols have longers life span before it wears off, Specialy when you compete. So why buy staccato where u can put a bit more to purchase the Atlas .
@hammerarmament
@hammerarmament 20 дней назад
That is worth considering and I did address this at the 07:48 mark. But…it also should be noted that all of the consumable parts (springs etc) essentially have the same service life on both. My opinion is that even though Staccatos are “mass produced” ,they have that process nailed down pretty well to the point that it’s mostly a non-issue for most people. Both our Athena and XC are north of 16,000 rounds now and wear is pretty comparable between the 2. Other than recoil springs, nothing has needed to be replaced and they both function without issue. That said, if you are planning on putting a high number of rounds on your gun in competition (10,000 + annually) I’d suggest an atlas and that you send it in to get it serviced once a year. If you are really dedicated to competing, you’ll probably want 2 so you have a spare (or a match gun and a training gun). If you have a tighter budget, you can still get really far with a Staccato P. Again, practice will make a bigger difference than just the gun. If you are planning on very high round counts on a gun and you are looking at the P, I would steer you towards the steel frame version. I have heard of some of the aluminum frame models breaking after 10,000 rounds. This is anecdotal, of course, but something to be aware of.

My xc had a trigger weight of 1.5 pounds right out of the box. Good for range. Probably too light for cc or hd.
@hammerarmament
@hammerarmament 14 дней назад
Yeah that seems a bit light. If that’s the only gun you shoot, you get used to it. Especially if you are putting in a lot of practice. Jumping between guns with different trigger weights makes it a bit trickier. I’ve gotten pretty used to my atlas trigger with practice. HD is a maybe But I still wouldn’t feel comfortable carrying with it that light.
