I’m a cards fan and would’ve been 8 when this happened and because we were down, my dad made me go to bed after the 7th. Well, he woke me up right after the game ended, and had me watch from the 8th to the end. Will never forget that game
I’m a huge Cardinals fan I was like 9 or 10 and I got mad because I thought they were gonna lose and went to bed around the 7th or 8th now it’s kind of a family joke how that miracle happened and I missed it lol.
I’m from Nashville and I had my ticket for Game 7 ready to be used. I’ll never forget that exciting 4 hour drive to St. Louis! It was a moment I’ll never forget!
I'm 37. My dad used to wake me up/let me stay up for all kinds of games too......Some of my best memories as a kid!!! Pissed my mom off so much....haha!!
"We will see you, tomorrow night!" Two legendary calls from two great baseball announcers. I cry a bit when I hear this amazing call. Thanks, Jack and Joe Buck!
im with you brother i am such a sucker or sports because its the one sporting event where e don't care about color we don't care about creed or size I cry when I hear it because only the sports Gods would allow a father and son to be in that position to make the same call on a home run hit in the very same spot
Spent the first 10 years of my life in Carlinville, IL and have been a Cardinal fan since 1956 when I was five. Game six was, then, and may always be the most incredible game EVER!!! Love the Cardinals!!!!!
12 years later i am still sitting here with tears in my eyes simply the greatest game I ever watched twist and turns key hits on both sides the rangers have not been remotely close since I feel bad for the ranger fans THEY JUST WON'T GO AWAYYY!!
So many memories. I was at the game. A life-long Cardinals fan. But more than that just a fan of the game. I was sitting next to an individual, who had no loyalty to either team. He just loved baseball. A student of the history of the game. (He was a White Sox fan but was not able to attend the final game of the 2005 World Series, which the White Sox won because his wife was having a baby. So his boss had gotten him tickets to Game 6 in St. Louis) As I am very much astute on the history of baseball, we had some great conversations during the ebbs and flows of the game. Obviously, I was rooting for my team but really enjoyed having someone who understood just how things were playing out to talk too. When it was all said and done, after Freese hit the game-winning homer, he hugged me, congratulated me and said "we just saw the best game ever played." I thanked him, and agreed, and told him what a pleasure it was to spend such memorable night next to someone who loves the game as much as I do.
I was born into a Cards Family in 1979, but I was born into a baseball loving family. My family loves baseball but we esp love our Cards. Greatest game ever in my lifetime, hands down!
Me as well cards games as a baby.. had no voice after one of the best moments me and my late mother shared together would give one my fingers to have been there
My parents got married on Sept 4, 1968..a Thursday in Cleveland, MS. Their honeymoon was in St Louis and dad picked Thursday because the Cards were home for a 4 game stretch. I was born on Aug 12, 1979 in Cleveland (and still live here) and they took me to my first Cards game when I was 6 weeks old...It was Lou Brock's retirement game when they gave him a big boat for his retirement gift. I now have 2 sons, ages 15 & 6, and they have the love in their blood too. My parents celebrated their 53rd anniversary this Sept and we'll be there this postseason too if our Cards get there.
This is the best postseason game I've personally EVER seen .. maybe the best game period. The fact that I'm a cardinals fan helps of course but unless I was a cubs fan (or rangers of course) I don't see how anyone couldn't have been amazed by this. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions. Wow.
you are right I am a met fan and when berkman came up I saw his swings the amazing part is berkman was in a 1-2 hole and worked it to 3-2 I knew he was gonna get get a hit and when he did he is on 1st no emotion and joe buck the best at letting the moment take over said about the cardinals they just won't go away the most chilling and spine tingling call man I still get chills
Bro I swear to god I’m in my bedroom whole house has to be up early in the morning when that ball bounced off the wall soooo many angry people started screaming at me not five minutes after that they all screaming at the tv lmao greatest game I ever witnessed!
We were there! My wife and I early on bought our tickets for game 6 as the playoffs were just starting and it was not for certain the Cardinals would be even playing. We picked the RIGHT game. By the end of the game, everyone in stands sans the Ranger fans went "crazy". Something to experience for a lifetime!
I was at this game, it was absolutely AMAZING to be there... My freind and his dad left after we stranded the bases loaded in the 8th and they chose not to listen to the radio... They turned on the TV when they got home... just in time to watch Freese hit the walk off... Ouch...
My brother was at this game and sat right behind Nolan Ryan. Watching him was as good as watching the game. Imagine that guy's emotional roller coaster.
Cardinals fan was 7 when this happened. My parents sent me to bed in the 7th and asked me if i wanted to watch it on recording when i work up for school next morning. I couldnt believe what i saw.
Man I still can't believe Albert Pujols left St Louis after this.... That's crazy!! Imagine what could have been... The ST. Louis Cardinals won in 2011 they were one game away from the WS in 2012 they were back in the WS in 2013 and they were one game away from the WS in 2014 again.... He really made a bad decision he should have stayed!! Oh my what could have been!!
Likely wouldn’t have been able to keep Molina and Wainwright if they signed Pujols back then. I’m excited to see him win another championship with the Cardinals this year
Jason motte is a huge reason why we came back.. That shut out inning right before was key.. I think the Cardinals are going to shock a lot of people this year I think they're going to do really good!! If we could get Wainwright right!! When Adam is clicking and on his pitches the whole pitching staff follows suit..
I'm not even a Rangers fan-- I'm an Indians and Cleveland sports fan-- and even I feel a bit heartbroken for the Rangers here! You know you lost badly when a Cleveland fan feels bad for you! ;)
Cruz's inability to make the catch on Freese's 9th inning triple cost the Rangers a World Championship. That ball was catchable for a major league right fielder. I still don't know what Cruz was thinking.
Agree 100%. By all accounts, Nelson Cruz is a really good guy, but how he totally skates w/o any criticism for this play boggles my mind. 11:33 is the moment every ballplayer LIVES for. Whatever position you're playing, you have got to be thinking about what you are going to do if the ball is hit to you. And your mind must be laser-focused that whatever it takes, you will get to that ball. Cruz was not mentally prepared for the play. If you're an outfielder, you have got to be thinking, "Ball, then wall." That's the order in which you prioritize things. Worry about catching the ball & squeezing your mitt on it, then worry about how you're going to deal with the wall. With that ball in the air, knowing if you catch it, you win the World Series, an outfielder has to utterly disregard the wall. Cruz not only needlessly pulled up, thinking the wall was closer than it actually was, but he also took his eye off the ball to find out where the wall was. WHO CARES WHERE THE WALL IS???!!!! Catch the ball! I don't care if a train is coming. Catch the ball, then worry about whether you get hit by the train or not. Even if it's a bang/bang play, ball then wall, (which is wasn't going to be), and even if you crash into the wall at full speed, you've got the entire off-season to recover from whatever injuries you sustain. Before Freese ever hit that ball, this had to be Cruz' focus and determination. I don't know what he was thinking about before the ball was hit, but it certainly wasn't on what he needed to do if the ball was hit toward him. He wasn't ready for the moment. And it cost him and all of his teammates a World Series championship that many of them would never get the opportunity to win again. Hamilton also merits some criticism here too, IMO. Not that he would've necessarily got the out at home, but where in the world was he as that ball caromed off the wall back toward 2nd base? On any ball hit deep down either line, there should always be 2 outfielders running. Either the left- or right-fielder to the ball, and the center-fielder to back the play up in case it ricochets off the wall. Hamilton was nowhere in sight. Cruz had to run all the way in to make the throw himself. BTW, I played center field for over 20 years. I'm not saying that Cruz should've done anything I didn't do myself. And I never got paid a dime for it.
@@dantheman5745 he also played it poorly off the wall, allowing it to get away. If he really didn’t think he could make a play, he could’ve taken it off the wall because Berk isn’t exactly Rickey Henderson out there
@@jackargie1092Two years later and have you realized that your comment was wrong about the second run scoring if Cruz played the rebound correctly, probably not.
Because he had as much emotion as my left testicle. I hear though he was pretty emotionless for years because he had hair surgery and I guess some of the medicine for it made his voice really quiet. It's probably why now he emotes much much more than before.
George Brett pine tar bat game. Billy Martin, the manager of the Yankees at the time, came out of the dugout and complained that he thought the pine tar was too high on George Brett’s bat. The umps examined the bat and ultimately agreed with Martin. George Brett’s home run (which was in the Top of the 9th inning by the way, and put Kansas City in front of the Yanks) was overturned. Brett came storming out of the dugout about to kill those umpires when the lead umpire came to the KC dugout and told the KC manager that the home run was being overturned. So, in rare cases, a manager complaining to an umpire DOES work. Of course now with instant replay things are handled a lot differently.
