@@nathanielmcdonald17 he wanted Cruz to be on the field during the final out. Not to mention Cruz was cheating a bit in, almost as if he’s ready to run in and celebrate. Lots had to go wrong for Tex to lose, but you gotta win the game first.
As a lifelong Cardinals fan, I was rooting for Rangers all the way this season. Such a magical ending to such a long wait. Congrats to the Rangers on finishing the job!
I remember this when I was 7 years old. I thought we were going to lose it all but my dad believed so hard and it just me blew me away when Freese hit that home run. I still wear that #23 because of him up until this day
Today November 1, 2023 the Rangers can now put to rest this dark moment off their franchise, they have finaly close the deal and become world series champion of 2023. Third time is the charm they said.
Robert Ward That is because your Rangers have the worst manager in the history of baseball at the helm...Jeff Banister!! I played little league baseball with him!! I can’t tell you the number of times he would literally cry in the dugout for any little thing that would upset him!!! He’s a PUSSY!!!!!
1960 Game 7....NYY nearly hits into a game ending double play but Mantle somehow avoids the tag sliding back to first. A run scores to tie the game. Then the Pirates hit a lead off homerun in the bottom of the ninth....the only walk off homerun ever in Game 7 of the world series.
I'm from St. Louis and so I'm a little biased. Fun fact: A friend of mine had tickets in the upper concourse area. His friend got sick and couldn't go, so he offered me to go with him if I bought his friend's ticket he was selling for $400. I said no.
Man as a Rangers fan I will never get over this. This was arguably one of the best baseball teams ever assembled, so much firepower on that team. It causes me so much pain to watch this again but hats off to the Cardinals for never giving up.
This is a rare occasion where I was overwhelmed with excitement yet felt for the other team, coach. What a World Series. You could see the emotion in Ron's post game conference after Game 7. Nothing but respect to the Texas Rangers. From a fellow Cardinals fan.
I live in St. Louis and baseball is life here. Talking about a great time to live in this city back then. This is hands down the best world series game ever played. The city was so LIT after this championship.
I came back here to remind myself the pain I felt being a Rangers fan my whole life and coming this close to seeing my team win a World Series. Watching the game tonight brought back this memory from 2011. Thank you Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia and the Rangers bullpen for making tonight a much better experience. Still a long way to go in this World Series but I hope the Rangers erase the painful memory of 2011. #Goandtakeit
I’m here mentally preparing myself for the possibility of a bad outcome. I can’t go through this again. This game made me take a decade-long break from baseball.
As rangers fan, I was 14 when we lost this game. This is the first time I have watched this highlight since 2011. Still burns but not nearly as much since we were able to get it done a few nights ago.
@user-et6sz5wi8l Giants vs rangers...Technically this should've been your 3rd title...But Diamondbacks couldn't do what the pedigree franchises can...Cardinals have 2nd most titles in mlb history with 11, Giants are 5th with 8...As a Cardinals fan Congrats on your first title..I'm happy you got a title finally and since the Cardinals haven't won one since, I hope the Cardinals now can figure it out again soon and get closer to the Yankees..
18 years old fresh out of high school… my Mavericks won the championship over the Miami heat in June avenging the heart break in 2006 when i was 13 years old… Now I’m 30 years old and hoping my Rangers can make it right this year for 2011’s heart break. Sports are beautiful!!!
I'm a Cardinals fan and I am rooting for the Rangers to win this year primarily because I want their fans to get to experience a World Series Championship. As amazing as 2011 was for Cardinals fans, it had to be even more brutal for you guys. Good luck this year!
Who's here after Texas finally won the World Series? Congrats Rangers fans. While this memory may still hurt, its amazing the team finally overcame adversity and the shadows of the past.
As a Rangers fan I can finally watch the highlights of this game and not feel dramatically overwhelmed by this loss. Go Rangers!!! 2023 World Champions!! Finally redemption!!!
We dont have to hear bout this crap anymore!! 🏆 We finally got 1!! Go Rangers! 💙💓 I remember being numb and couldnt sleep after that painful game. And game 7 too.
If anyone doubts fate and destiny, this 2011 Cardinals teams is one of the best pure examples from start to finish. Taking out the favorite Phillies led by Roy Halladay up until David Freese being the hero that came up for them in this classic game. Im a Dodgers fan who just solely appreciates the ride that this team took me on when I wasn't even a fan. Truly special.
My Dad was a Cardinals’ fan since he was a boy back in the 1920’s. But the year I was born in 1955, the year the Dodgers their first WS, my Dad told me the story about everyone that he knew in St Louis County, where he lived, were rooting for the Dodgers. Your story about the Cardinals echoed a lot of what he said about the Dodgers. Baseball’s history is so interesting.
Philly fans thought they were going to dominate for years with the pitching staff they assembled. In Philly they had Red-Doctober shirts they were selling.
These are the types of World Series games that define Fall in St. Louis... I remember being in Linn, MO signing up for college classes and watching this game. Never seen my own dad cry tears of joy till that night. Next night I went to my now ex-best friends house to watch the game. Absolute elation after Craig made the catch to seal Title No.11 into the history books. The Parade a few days later was epic. literally almost a million St. Louisans jam-packed the streets of downtown, people literally pulled kids out of class to attend it. Baseball is a religion in St. Louis, period.
Native St Louisan here. I've told people for a long time now that baseball is religion in STL. I really miss being able to go to games. Sadly, I haven't been to the new Busch Cathedral...er, stadium, yet.
Get there my fellow feathered friend,my Dad I go several times in the summer,we know a friend with season tickets about 30 rows behind home plate it's glorious
@@justinwittmer7941 It happened. Gloria. The Blues and the Cardinals have some great fans, and a friendship now I guess, since we had 25k in the rain at Busch Stadium to watch game 7 of the Cup final
Otávio Ferreira it sure as hell did. I was at the game 5 and 7 watch parties. The party in the streets was unreal, I would’ve loved to be at the parade. I was also at game 6 in 2011, best night of my life. And now lo and behold the cardinals have life again. The October magic has returned.
As a Ranger fan I still feel the pain from this absolutely heartbreaking 💔 game … I’m glad I lived long enough to see them win it all tonight .. CONGRATULATIONS TEXAS RANGERS
same with the 2016 series. I know as a cards fan i'm supposed to hate the cubs but I couldn't help but be happy for all of the cubs fans who'd gone their whole lives without seeing a championship. 2016 was a pretty great world series, undeniably good baseball.
As a Mariners fan who only knows pain and misery from my own team, it’s great watching a division rival fail, lol. Also, the Cards are just a very respectable team who play great baseball.
As a Cardinals fan this one still brings goosebumps and a tear to the eye! Also, I figure since we gave Rangers fans this heartbreak, and the Cards aren't in it this year, I'm rooting for the Rangers for their fans' sake haha.
He spoke about how it felt playing for the Cardinals when he was an ASTRO and Yankees player...He said it was very strange but when the winning started happening it reignited his love for baseball and reminded him of how the Cardinals never gave up when he played for the Astros back then...Such a weird world where Astros/Cardinals had a major rivalry in the past and almost no new baseball fans know anything about it...I somewhat wish the Astros still played in the NL central..
It's not just this game, its the entire 2011 season. Redbird fans, you will never experience another season like that again. 10 1/2 out, game 5 against the Phillies,Pujols 3hrs,a and this.Spring began losing their best pitcher, the pit in your stomach all season long that Albert might leave ,the emotions if you love baseball were overwhelming.
@@justinwittmer7941 Just read your comment, Matheny sure did wreck a whole decade for the Redbirds. But hey, he was cute and looked so good in the uniform.
David Freese has announced his retirement from major league baseball. As a Cardinals fan I want to thank him for these memories! What a seemingly magical series this was! To echoJoe Buck's call "We will see you tomorrow!", we, Cardinal nation will see you soon in Redbird hall of fame!!! Legends can only make memories like these. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Legend! #11in11
AGiantGiantFan 13 born and raised Cardinal fan here to asure you he is thoroughly overared lol. well he used to be. we thank him for that game and the memories but we should have let him go sooner. he's switched teams a few times now and thats kind of what his level of play is. You use him while you're trying to find a permanent player
Damn, if Nelson Cruz had a better read on that ball, this would have been the Rangers’ first WS Championship Win. But it’s all good, Rangers won it all yesterday winning 11 straight on the road.
It took a lot of healing for many years to recover from this. As ridiculous as it is, the WS loss in 2011 affected me for a long, long time. I can watch it now, and I can actually appreciate how great this game was for the game of baseball. All I saw was red at the time, but what a heroic story for Freese. I love October baseball. It’s absolutely incredible.
@@gregarious1 Didn't have the drama of game 6 2011... Cubs Indians was a close game but nothing like game 6 Cards Rangers... No team has ever been down by 2 runs in the 7th 8th 9th & 10th innings and still won a World Series game or a regular season game for that matter... What the 2011 STL Cards did was historic!
@@texascardI can only imagine. I’m a Red Sox fan. I was stunned when they lost game 6. But it’s all good. They got it done. Happy for the Rangers and their fans.
What a great game. I have so many memories with this Cardinals team. I had just moved from Texas into STL in August of 2011 right before the Cards went on this run. My dad was born and raised in STL so turned me into a Cardinals fan real fast. I still remember, as a 10 year old, watching all the playoff games with my dad. The clutch game vs the Astros when the Braves lost and the Cards clutched the Wild Card, the NLDS against the super, 100 game winner Phillies where everybody said the Cards would get demolished, the NLCS where the Cards beat their biggest rivals of 2011, the Brewers, in 6 at Miller Park, and of course the World Series between my two homes. St. Louis and Texas. I made so many memories in just 7 games and will forever be a Cards fan. It changed my life for the better. Thats what baseball can do for you. Unlike any other sport it is a journey and your fanbase is your family. Wether you're a Cubs fan, Rangers fan, Cardinals fan, WHOEVER... Baseball is an amazing sport. I also loved the great runs the Cards went on in 2012 against the Nats, 2013 when they went to the world series, and 2014/2015 for what they brought also. Hopefully the Cards can return to the playoffs in 2018! Thanks for reading if you did.
I drove from North Carolina to my parents' house in northwest Tennessee after buying a ticket for game 7 just in hopes that I could see the Cardinals win one live in Busch. I will never forget falling asleep on the couch around the 5th inning (because I thought the game was over) and being woken up to screaming in the 8th. After the Cardinals won Game 6, my brother and I traveled about four hours up to Saint Louis for Game 7. What a great experience to be able to witness it all with him.
@@bowlnow824 same, but my family went to bed early because they thought stl would lose! But I stayed up and watched the rest of that game and was so happy to tell my family the outcome of the game when they woke up
This game pulled an emotion out of me that I didn't know was possible for me watching baseball. I was teary eyed the next day thinking how much of an hero Josh Hamilton would've been had we won that game.
This literally made me cry, watching this again, 7 years from now. I was only 7 years old, as I watched each game of the world series. This game inspired me to play ball. Inspired me to love the Cardinals and to continue to play the beloved game of baseball today. As a child, I wanted to become those guys up on TV, the hard work finally paid off to bring them there. To have that feeling as you run around the bases after a walk off. Thank you for making this video. This truly is the best. game. ever.
One of the two greatest baseball games I ever saw, separated by 36 years. 1975: World Series Game 6. I was 13, and my family had moved from Texas to Dayton, Ohio the year before. I was so excited to be able to go to a Major League game and saw the Big Red Machine play 10 or 12 times. I can still remember staying up late on a school night to watch that incredible game. Even though it was a really hard loss to watch, I knew that I had seen an iconic sports moment. 2011: World Series Game 6. Two unbelievable comebacks by the Cardinals in the 9th and 10th innings. It was like watching a movie. You couldn't have scripted a game like that. To all the crushed Rangers fans, I'd offer that the Baseball Gods decided you weren't going to win that game or the series, and there was no way to change the outcome.
I remember watching this the night before college orientation in Linn, MO... Biggest rollercoaster of emotions I've had PERIOD as a Cards fan One moment you're on top of the world, the next you're having a heart attack
I’m a die-hard Cardinals fan, but man you gotta feel for Ron Washington. Such a stand-up and classy all around guy. I know it’s part of the game and somebody has to lose, but what a manner to lose in.
Every time I watch this game it’s like I’m watching it for the first time ever again. The tears fall, the smile is ear to ear, I will never forget me watchin this on the TV when it happened. Damn it was just legendary
Imagine growing up idolizing a baseball team, dreaming of hitting a walk off homer in the World Series for them, and then actually doing this. David Freese lived that
