I live for anti-racist/racial justice work in all of it's forms and Michelle Alexander is necessary and demanding. Making the connections between race and it's centrality in decision making in all forms of dominant governance is hard work, but I am do happy to see Michelle do this work. I truly believe that all people can dedicate themselves to racial justice no matter what your occupation/focus is.
The recent trend of legalization and decriminalization of cannabis will go a long way toward "downsizing" the prison population. What we need to look out for are "get tough on crime" and "marijuana madness" politicians who represent the profit-making interests of the prison owners. Don't fall for the inevitable rhetoric!
