My daugther has a equinox. I have done 4 manifolds on it. They crack in the same spot every two years. I tried GM and dorman, no good results. I guess its a bad design.
Completed the job but I got a p0420 code. Checked and I have a leak at the flange. I used the new gasket that came with the manifold. Can I use a thicker gasket or is it possible I installed it incorrectly?
P0420 is low Catalyst efficiency code and is usually the result of a contaminated cat. The leak may be agrivating things but I would not be surprised if fixing the leak does not fix the code. Try dropping the converter and inspecting tge gasket for incorrect deformation. Try another new gasket and I've put a bead of muffler cement on the gasket surfaces to help seal it up. Good luck.
Hey sir was this Malibu you fix was loud because I have mine that use to be quiet but now is like I turn it orb and I smell like the smoke that goes out the muffler is like there’s times I turn the heater off because I’ll feel light headache
This one leaked worse when cold due to the crack opening up cold. It is possible for exhaust gasses to enter into the heater as the air inlet is at the base of the windshield. You should get it fixed as that's not safe.
@@PhillipBailey thanks for replying back I’ll definitely go get it check out I live in Indiana so when it gets cold it’ll sound like a go cart but then soon is warm is a lil quiet
Basic hand tools including 3/8" flex headed long handled ratchet 13mm short, medium depth sockets 3 and 4 inch extensions, 10mm socket, 13mm ratcheting box end wrench, 15mm socket, possibly propane torch to heat bolts on converter, scraper, sanding disc or sand paper.
After doing my own so many times, I can knock it out in roughly 10-15 minutes. Half an hour of fl tear down. Grille inserts, etc. Painted them black, didn't like the chrome and was peeling.
