2012 Ford Edge 3.5L 30 Minute Oil Pressure Sensor Replacement. Super easy replacement. Dealer quoted me $375. to do the work. Part from the dealer was about $12.00. Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light Fix. 13/16 Deep Socket.
Referenced this vid for my 2011, same procedure, go from the bottom, didnt have to take the skid/guard plate, used a long 1/8" piece of steel to press and pry the clip away through the top, 3/8's socket/swivel came right out, saved a TON of money! thanks for this video!
Thanks for the video. My oil pressure warning light was coming on but it would go away if I revved the engine. The hardest part was getting the electrical connector off the sensor because I couldn't see where to depress the connector due to orientation. I went from the bottom.
I couldn't do it like this maybe I didn't have high enough. I was changing the oil (2011 Edge @ 197k) so I did this with the filter off. All I used was a 13/16 for the old one and the new one needed 21mm. I used just 3/8 ratchet and extension no swivel socket needed, pushing up from the bottom took a couple pushes to loosen it but got it.
Just referenced your video last night and tonight after work. Got in there, removed and replaced within an hour! About 1 cup of oil pours out. Have something to catch it. The swivel was perfect add-on for this job. Hardest part was getting the electrical clip off.
2013 ford edge here. i just swapped mine out this am. so im hoping it did the trick. their was oil in the sensor i removed so it was leaking. if you have anything larger than small hands, its still a chore to get to this darn thing. and i pretty much was trying to get to the safty clip blindfolded. you cant see what your doing.. my light was going off when car was fully stopped and when any gas was given the light went away. so while driving no light was present. only when idle. so again.. hoping this did the trick..
Just got thru doing this. 21MM socket was only way I could it old one out. Oil came pouring out when I did. I put new one in....and low oil pressure light STILL ON! I just don't understand. Car was fine , less than 100k miles, died on me twice this week when stopped at red light. Always started back up. Replaced sensor like a million videos suggest, starts fine but light still on so I'm afraid to drive it. I let it run dor 15 to 20 seconds each time and light never goes off. I'm so disappointed, I hate this car.
If you do it from the bottom, No. If you try from the top yes. Using the correct length of socket and extensions it is super easy from the bottom. Do not over tighten the new sensor. It's better to tighten more after getting a leak than over tightening and cracking the block.
@@glenb1461 Thanks! I read online that removing the fan assy helps but I don't want to do that unless its really necessary. Also, I'm going to do an oil change at the same time and will do it when the oil filter is removed so I might have some more room. Thanks again for the response.
I found the problem its the low pressure fuel sensor do you know where that is located i don't know if mine being a 2012 2.0 ford edge limited matters they said it's connected to the fuel lines but when I trace the fuel lines I still am having a problem locating the fuel sensor
@@FairfaxSports yeah it's the high pressure fuel pump after I replaced the low pressure fuel sensor it only improved a little so I did a little more research and it came out that it was the high pressure fuel pump the ine located on the top of the motor not the one in the gas tank
I have 2013 edge my light comes on randomly when at stop sign ... changed sending unit... left mechanic did it again😱 have a three hour trip to daughters graduation Any suggestions
A good mechanic can test the pressure at the sending unit to determine if the engine has low pressure. If it does have low pressure you may need an oil pump. Hopefully he used genuine motorcraft parts. See this video:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tsWFA7Uzik8.html&ab_channel=BillMortonBillMorton
I have a question my 2012 Ford edge isn't Accelerating past 40mph it's almost as if it has a governor on it and my service engine light came on also so I parked it till the morning and turned it back on and it said low engine pressure also has a hard time starting this is the first problem I have had with this vehicle
@@sparklede8846 replace the low pressure fuel sensor located under the intake manifold and on top of the motor there is a high pressure fuel pump replace that also
@@zachariahmagallan5738 you mean a high pressure sensor or you replaced the fuel pump along with fuel pressure sensor? Trying to trouble shoot my 11,got the low oil pressure warning, stalls out.
@@sirridok there is a low pressure fuel sensor under the intake manifold which I replaced that ended up being not the problem so I replaced the high pressure fuel pump located on the driver side rear top side of the motor and that fixed the problem
You need to be up to speed and modern with wrenches, sockets, sizes! 21 mm is the correct size. Everything is made metric. Don’t make another video with that mistake. It doesn’t make you look so good.
You need to gain some experience. You obviously have never turned a wrench in your life. Sometimes SAE sizes allow just enough wiggle room to allow easy access to a fastener.
