Same car 2013 Chevy impala. L. TI changed the front cover gasket. And it's leaking from the top spark plugs gasket. I don't know if I put them in the wrong way. But I'll follow the joy instructions and it's leaking pretty bad.

@Jimmy S I actually drill the holes out in that little PCV Barb that's in the back of the intake manifold but I'm still having the pulling up of oil in my intake issue I don't understand what else I could possibly do besides a catch can

Great video! We’re the timing chains ok then? And can I ask how many miles were on it when you did this?

I'm getting ready to do the front 2-6 bank cylinder head gasket because I have only got 45psi compression in the 2 cylinder, 90 in the 4, and 120 in the 6. I was hoping for more information on taking more stuff off on the accessory side of the engine, IE the alt and such. Then I'm not sure what I'll do for the timing chain and such yet. See what it looks like when I get the cover off. Is there a reason you went with oem intake gasket? I'm going to go oem on head gasket because it's a mls multi layer steel, which is always good with aluminum heads. Maybe I'll get the intake set there too. Its cheaper than aftermarket anyhow. Nice vid.

So I am leaking I think from my timing cover on my 3.6 l Impala because I have a pretty obvious wet area where where my passenger side tire is located when you take it off so that's what I'm assuming did yours stop leaking by just replacing the gaskets and what did you exactly do to stop the PCV valve in the front from leaking oil into your air box??

I just want to pull my rear valve cover. Suspect broken exhaust valve spring. Does the haynes manual cover that?

@Jimmy S I'm not sure I'm following ... I also have only just one spark plug tube that has a little bit of oil .. the one closest to the front PCV valve and I thought from what I've read it was just the spark tube o ring seal that had started failing thus causing some oil to get by .. is that not right ?? Cuz I was going to be doing this whole job this weekend

Too bad you didn't shine a flashlight into those holes when the intake/plenum cover was off because those intake valves are probably baked crusty on the stem side, often fouling spark plugs and the fuel injectors when the problem becomes extreme. It seems the direct injection eliminated the cleaning effect of fuel washing over those stem side valves so oil just accumulates and creates carbon build-up. I suppose the PCV played a role allowing oil to be sucked in but full synthetic at regular oil changes should help counter the direct fuel injection engineering mistake. Never conventional dinosaur oil or synthetic blends.

Good video, thanks for posting it. I'm actually having a mechanic friend of mine complete the repairs. I was curious, though, and I don't think it was covered in the video, where is the oil pump? Is it ran with the timing chain? Thanks again.

The oil pump is driven by the crankshaft. You can see a bit of it around 17:35. Besides a timing chain guide that shares two mounting bolts you don't have to mess with the oil pump for a timing chain, and usually you can just pop the nylon guide off the old one and replace it with the new one (the one half offscreen at 17:40) so you don't have to mess with the oil pump alignment, which apparently requires some special alignment tool.
