Thank you for the feedback everyone! However, no more videos of this car will be coming as the owner no longer has it due to an accident. They are fine. When I have more time from work, look forward to more videos!

You don't have to remove the fuel injectors. Once the upper manifold is removed remember that the 4 long bolts are in the center. The rear valve cover to be removed only takes a 1/4inc on swivel with a 10mm long socket to remove the the bolts on the back of the valve cover. You will have to remove the wiring harness tabs after you have removed the 2 10 mm bolts from the power steering reservoir. You will also carefully gently remove the valve cover. Also remember that you only have to loosen the bolts as they cannot be removed from their grommets. To install the rear valve cover after cleaning apply some Indian gasket goup slightly to the valve to keep the cover becoming dislodged during installation. Never forget to clean the surface on the left side of the engine where the timing cover meets those cylinder heads. Use a small dab at those points of a silicone that is rated for oil resistance. The black, blue and high temp orange will seal. Just wait about 7 minutes before installing the rear valve cover. You will also push down to get the new spark plug tube seal with a slightly coat of oil. I hope that this helps anyone. 👍🏁

This was awesome! The is the only vid for this car on valve gasket that I could find. Totally got it. Did snap a bolt that I'll have to easy out. Car did not start afterwards so not sure what to do there. And now, I need to do back half. Omg... could use some help there for sure!!

I'm glad you found this helpful Mel! It was probably just a plug somewhere keeping it from starting since so many were unplugged.

Is there a way to adjust the timing without marks? I took the chain out and my stupidity allowed me to turn the the sprocket s individually, which turned the cams. Now I have no idea where I am at. Call me an idiot because I am. 2015 Chev malibu 2.5

Next time you replace the valve cover gaskets can you plllleeeeaaassseee use a tripod so we can see what you're doing in real time? Currently need to replace mine but I feel like a lot was lost in translation without being able to actually see you complete each step Thank you!

Thank you for the feed back. I am looking into getting a tripod. I just filmed this on the fly and found this was the easiest way to edit at the time.

Was there still a visible gap in between the valve cover and the bottom?
@truckscarsandcoffey3973
@truckscarsandcoffey3973 2 года назад
Hi Ben. No sure what you mean by "the bottom". But I can tell you there should not be any gaps anywhere. That leads to oil leaks or vacuum leaks, depending on what the part is. Thanks for watching.

Did you change the intake manifold gaskets

@truckscarsandcoffey3973 3 года назад
No I did not as they looked fine. I just cleaned them off with a bit of parts cleaner and re-used them. Did not hear any leaks so I guess it worked haha

What about the rear valve cover gasket. there has to be a trick to it.
@truckscarsandcoffey3973
@truckscarsandcoffey3973 3 года назад
I am sure there's a trick but the owner needed to get back home and as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

@@truckscarsandcoffey3973 what was the hoses you took off the manifold?

You should have told them that you are already there. If the back valve cover fails and makes a misfire they will have to pay twice to have the problem corrected. Short cuts never pay off. Yet the customer is always right? When they tell me how to do my job I just tell them take it somewhere else and good luck. If the easy front is failed the rear is not to far behind. Pay me now and later. Never re-use a gasket unless you enjoy working for free on a come back. It does bite that you have to buy a whole intake gasket set just to replace the upper 1. Yet its only a 15$ difference in getting the whole set as the upper only has to be "special ordered " from the parts store that will take a "few days ". Thank you for the video. 👍

Are you wrong, no. However I did what I needed too at the time and it's all the owner wanted me to do. You won't be getting a follow up anyway for the back because the car was totaled 3 years ago. Thanks for watching.
