@@zachtravers That’s unfortunate. It’s not often Toyotas have major issues like that, let alone twice and with relatively low miles too. Pity because 1st gen Venzas are such cool cars; underrated too. The newer ones are just not the same.
@@M67v the 2GR-FEs are actually known to eat water pumps. Most go prior to 100k. The Venza was a good car, but at 100k it needed a lot of work so I got her into a 19 NX300
300k miles and doin 6 flat yessir! my 08 le v6 does it in 5.7-5.8 sometimes 6.5 if i spin through the whole first gear and man does it snatch off on r/t's. i bet if you had 100k like me yours would prolly do it in 5.6 given that its 60 pounds lighter. i've seen a stock xv50 v6 do 5.4 before man... really wish i got that instead of my 08 and it's fully loaded! but that 140 on the dash just gives me the icks personally. 160 would've been a lot more fitting but ig a car that can damn near do the whole dash WITH the limiter is satisfying to see. i heard these ones cap out at 133 while mines caps out at 138. my xv40 and your xv50 both have things that are better than the other. me personally i like the start up chime on mines better than yours but then i like the fact you have a fully loaded sedan which is lighter than mines which don't even got a sunroof and all auto windows. then mines got the better speedo and slightly faster while your speedo is more engaging to look at and is slightly quicker !!
Yeah I hate the startup chime on this Camry too; makes it sound cheap. Thankfully the newer ones have the Lexus chime. Your generation Camry is actually quicker than this one because the gearing is a lot shorter for yours. I think my generation has better top end though. But yeah V6 Camrys are great. Love these cars.
@@M67v i thought 07-17 with the v6 got the same gear ratios. 3rd gear short af which really gets it punching. and yea i think yours has quicker top end bc its lighter
I have the 4 cylinder and idk if they have the same exact transmission but the gearing has to be the same. The 2nd into 3rd shift is the way to have fun in this car.
Even my lincoln sounds better, toyota's 2gr-fe 3.5 is still a great engine and can sound decently well when modified correctly. but stock for stock and even modified lincoln wins.
Its definitely impressive for 275k miles!! What fuel do you use? This engine does run much better on 93 even though the manual says 87 but most people aren't concerned about power on these cars, this one has a lot of it!! I bet that 6400 rpm redline is what keeps it from doing any damage, it will build power all the way to 6800+ but they don't let you shift up there like the 18+ ones can they have changed the rev limited although this car still pulls very hard in stock form
Thanks a lot, and yeah it feels like it has a fraction of the miles it actually has. I usually run 88 octane, and sometimes 87 if I can’t get 88, but never anything beyond that. I’m not convinced that cars that are tuned for regular fuel run any better with premium, or maybe that’s just my excuse for being cheap lol. I noticed that it’s very rev-happy engine as well, so I get the impression that they held back on the redline as well. 6400 is a bit low. It can rev higher for sure because the Lotus Evora uses the same motor, and that car revs up to 7,000. I won’t question Toyota’s decision however since they know what they’re doing. So the 2018+ Camrys actually have a different engine design. They use an Aktinson cycle, and they have a higher compression ratio. They’re more fuel efficient, higher revving, and more powerful overall. That motor is designated as the 2GR-FKS, while my car has the 2GR-FE. I’ve driven the motor FKS in my mom’s 2016 RX 350 and it makes a different sound entirely. The FE is still very impressive however, and it’s a proven motor.
@@M67v I think you are correct about the gasoline. I have tried high test and can't seem to measure a difference in performance compared to 87 octane on my vehicle with the same engine as the one on this video.
@@happycamper6352 unless the manufacturer recommends premium fuel, requires premium fuel, or claims increased power with premium fuel, it doesn’t make a difference at all.
Back when I drove this, I’d get about 17-20 MPG in the city, and I could easily get 30+ MPG highway, even cruising at 80 MPH. Once I even got as high as 38 MPG highway driving like a grandma. Impressive for a V6!
