Just bought a 2012 CC 2.0T . You hit the nail on the head with the suspension. Its like driving a sport tuned import but feels like youre on a cloud. I have yet to experience another car like that. I really feel after driving both a Passat and Jetta that the CC is just leaps and bounds nicer than those. The Passat interior felt sort of cheap as compared to the CC. The moment i drove the CC i was all over it. And with the exception of Mercedes CLS its truly unique in styling and feel. Its hard to find a car that feels, looks and drives like a luxury car, yet at the same time a very well put together racing sedan. I love my new car!

I own a 2010 VW CC 2.0 Sport. It now has 32k miles. I like it a lot! I live outside city limits and routinely get 33 - 36 mpg. Main issues for me has been; headliner needed replacing about a year ago, cupholder sliding cover at the rear broke recently. Otherwise i'm very pleased with it and would buy another!

nauticalone Ed How you manage to open you doors in bad winter? With windows full of ice? For me it's a nightmare. I have a lot of marks on windows the because of ice and salt in the winter. And obviously there were days when i simply cannot open the door because of that.

There's a screw right by the clutch pedal on this car which can be tightened or loosened any idea if that's the screw that adjusts the release point on the clutch for this car?

Whaa.... Cc and Passat are both offered the same in both countries. The aluminum is real. My brother is over 6ft and fits in the rear comfortably behind me at 5 11 and I have 09 lux. The American cars do handle as well like the imapala.

Thanks Alex for a good review. I'm planning to replace my 2012 VW GLI Autobahn (overall a good experience and value but high road noise and really hard plastic inside) with possibly 2.0 T Sport or 2.0T Exec in a few months. It'll primarily be for myself, wife and our 7 months old baby. Worried about room for baby/child seat. Will very much appreciate your assessment. And have you driven the CC VR6? If so, your thoughts please. Might get the 2013/2014 VR6 used then ...tempted by that power and torque. Regards

Appreciate the review and always enjoy your reviews Alex. Always well done. My thoughts differ a little, having driven both cars very recently. I don't perceive the American Passat and CC to be very similar as eluded to in the video. I thought the CC was significantly better to drive. Hard to describe, but it feels like a driver's car. The Passat was just a plain old mid-sized sedan with a typical cushy suspension and an underwhelming cheap interior. The Passat comes across as a 2009 Camry. Not very exciting inside or out. The CC is far more engaging. It's just a hoot to drive, a confidence builder and frankly much more comfortable and powerful. The Passat can get up there in price, easily exceeding $30k fully loaded. Not worth it by any stretch. But, for a few thousand more, a CC is a much more entertaining value and better looking inside and out. Because of this I opted for the CC with absolutely not one bit of regret. The CC is a great car that keeps getting compared to an American Passat. In my mind it's like comparing a 370Z to a Porsche simply because they both look like fast sports cars. A 370Z is not a Porsche, but neither is the CC simply a more expensive Passat. Having just got rid of my Z-Car, I can't tell you how I so thoroughly enjoy the CC.

I bought a '12 CC. (This is a 2013, you can tell by the updated front/rear). I looked at an Audi A4 and to comparably equip it to a base CC, it cost $7k more. All that just to get Bluetooth and some heated seats because it's rolled in with other stupid options. It has the same engine, the same interior feel of quality and, imo, a better drive. I only have myself, so 4 seats was not necessary, but is nice if I -have- to stake others with. Perfect car for a single person wanting smthing different.

Good review! I have a ‘12 Audi A7 Prestige and it seems VAG is intent on selling us (North America) "dumbed" down versions of their vehicles... We lack soft close doors, corner cameras, comfort seat options, and a few other amenities as compared to the Europeans--Why is this?

I’m still confused about the difference between the 2010 model and the 2012 model. I recently bought a used 2010 CC 2.0L and it’s been heaven since. I have always loved the design of the CC but I really don’t understand the difference between the “Passat CC”, the US “CC” and the Euro “CC”. Can anyone explain this to me or maybe a video could help?

i used to have this car. it was great. its currently priced too high... to the point where if you want a comparably equipped model, i'd spend slightly more and go with an audi a4 which is faster, more luxurious, awd and more refined but a little more boring looking. still... its great car.

Not sure who, if anyone, will see this comment so many years after the video was initially dropped but as it happens I recently purchased a 2012 R-Line CC with only about 45,000 miles on the clock. It's a one owner car with a (rare) manual transmission. The previous owner is an engineer who treated it like his first born. Never drove it in the winter or apparently even in our Pacific Northwest rainy days in the spring and fall. Of course, car prices these days, both new and used, are insanely high but I managed to negotiate a price of about $11K for it. That made it a bargain comparably equipped Accords, Camrys, and other vehicles with similar mileage. Most vehicles with less than 100K miles were selling for 4 or 5 thousand dollars more. I wasn't necessarily looking for a midsize sedan. Instead, I was hoping to find a car suitable for my 16 y/0 daughter to (a) stop pestering me to drive my GTI and (b) find a vehicle for her to learn driving a stick. So far so good. When news got around her high school that we'd gotten an MT for her to drive, the "buzz" was deafening, especially among her male classmates. 😎 She hasn't totally mastered "stick" driving skills as yet but she's making significant progress. As I said, it's a 2012 version. The model Alex is driving is a 2013 model (despite the title of the video.) There are few differences between the two model years other than the fact that in 2013 VW caved to consumer complaints and added a cramped middle seat in the second row to make the CC, at least on paper, a 5 passenger "coupe" (mainly by adding a middle headrest.) The R-Line is simply a styling exercise with the same 200HP and 207 lb ft of torque as other 4 cylinder versions. However, anyone familiar with the EA888 family of engines found in the GTI will know the specs understate the performance of the vehicle. It's both quick (even by current standards) and very smooth in the CC. As a 2012 model it lacks many of the bells and whistles that most current vehicles include. No rear camera or adaptive cruise control, nor Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. And I have to admit I miss some of those features. (How quickly we come to rely upon them.) And not having owned an MT vehicle since 2012, I had to reacquaint myself with using my left foot when shifting. But old habits return remarkably quickly. After driving the CC for a couple of days, I found myself looking for a clutch pedal on my DSG equipped GTI. All in all, I'm delighted with the CC. Having a MK7.5 GTI and previously owning a 2013 MK6 version, I know the engine well. It's an awesome powerplant for its size. And the 18.5 gallon fuel tank coupled with excellent mpgs (about 27-29 in mixed driving) means the CC is a great long range touring vehicle. All in all, if you can find a deal similar to mine, I'd recommend it highly.

@@gaffnaldo1 My daughter is a senior in high school now and the CC is her daily driver. She LOVES it. In fact, I cannot quite imagine how I'll pry her cold dead fingers off the steering wheel if I try to sell it. She has become quite adept at driving a stick and has a license plate holder that reads "Manual Transmission Preservation Society." She'll be taking it off to college next year and holding onto it for years to come.

VW's ambitions to beat Toyota and GM lead to the current US Passat and Jetta, far inferior to the Eur Passat and Golf. Ironically the GLI has a much better interior than the base Jettas but the European base Jettas get the GLI interior. VW was right though, US customers don't value premium performance and materials in the compact and mid size class (Camry, Accord, Corolla and Civic sales prove this) to make matters worse, the dumbed down Jetta and Passat are selling far better and MT gave the P
