A video tutorial to show how to replace a sunvisor clip/bracket on a 2012 volkswagen passat. I bought the part from VW dealership for $12 + tax.

You should be able to find it on ebay for cheap, I'd recommend a plastic tool instead of a flat head screw driver. But that should work too as long as you are careful.
Hope this video helps you folks out and save some $$$. My dealership estimated a $45 labor for this repair.

Thanks for the video. Same vehicle here and dealer gave a quote of $210( $47 for parts and $160 for 0.5hr labor...)

Worked out perfectly for my 2014 Passat. Follow the instructions exactly. Use the proper pry tool and it'll take about 30 secs to accomplish. Thanks for the excellent video.

Bought the clip from the dealer for around $15 and by watching your very descriptive video i easily replaced mine in about a minute or 2. I gently used a flat head screw driver without forcing it. Thank you for saving me the labor.

Yes mine came off easily using same tool you can get also from amazon under 3 buks. 2nd time mine broke my wife is paying me 50 buks cost of having the dealer do it the 1st time. Btw i was having difficulty popping it out before seeing this video, the trick is to start where the smaller prong side is and practice jabbing it on the outer edge of the new part to get the hang of it. Hope that helps.

Just FYI for most 2013-2020 vw vans etc this will work however, there are now two hex screws that needs removing too underneath the cap

I bought mine on eBay. Size and fit was very close to OEM. Smaller plastic pin was 0.5mm too large in diameter. Filed it down so it would insert and clip into place. Also, metal clip held visor too tightly. Bent it in somewhat to reduce pressure.

You forgot to mention that you may need to really push it in. I had use socket and gently hit it with a hammer to get pushed in tight so it wouldn’t fall out when locking in the visor to the clip.

I'm not positive. Does the part look like the one in the video, then it probably will. 2012-2015 Passat are identical.

If you have a Passat that is from 2014 or newer, the screwdriver does not work. We used a pliers and it came right out.

Unfortunately my bracket doesn't seem to want to come off. I've tried the iphone tool, screwdriver, and both together and it still won't pop off like the video. Do you have any suggestions?

You might be prying the assembly and not the cover dont worry that happened to me too. Try practicing on the new part and pry on the outer edge. Good luck

I ended up carefully breaking mine apart to remove it. Watch out for small flying pieces of plastic.

They are the same as the vw up! You have marked the ceiling upholstery with the tool. 👎🏻

Oh my, upholstery is destroyed. Its just a car, relax your butt, moreover not your car. Don't feel like following instructions? Guess what, you can always move on with your life. :)
