The Nightmare they have a sign posted in the guitar section saying for “dive bombs” and “no stairway to heaven” in the drum area mostly just wanna be drummers trying to work a double pedal as fas they can, I saw a kid try it, but it was poorly set up display. The kid ended up destroying it. A lot of the kits are on display, with signs that read no touch or playing, but people do it anyways. And really it’s just a store to go and play keyboards all afternoon!!! Can’t remember when I was last there but the guy who worked there k ew less about drums, almost like he was a new hire I felt bad having to do his job for him.
After watching so many death metal drummers do way faster while playing their snare and cymbals, I am very underwhelmed. Also, many extreme metal drummers could actually pull off these speeds with an audible kick drum.

***** Yeah, I think Kollias is one of the very few people who can actually hit with force at insane speeds. It's amazing. To reply to Steve, I Don't think it matters if they are using triggers to count it, because the aforementioned George Kollias uses triggers, but his drums are still very audible when he plays acoustically, see "The Making of Things the Gods Detest" for proof.
Most death metal drummmers use a technique called heel toe which uses double strokes. You can go insanely fast with it with little effort. In this competition, they can only use single stroke so they cant go as fast. Unless they practice singles a lot and is their technique for fast tempos.
At first, I looked in awe and thought, "what am I doing with my life?" But then I realized that it's a competition to see who can hit a drum really fast and I thought, "never mind me, what are they doing with their lives?"
I'm not jealous of any drummer, no need to be. But I would be impressed if they could actually play those notes to a metronome and keep it in time, that would be more impressive.

Agreed, it's like a squares a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square type of thing, If you have skill you can play fast, but if you play fast it doesn't mean you always have skill.
Jack Blackburn is the drummer for death metal band VITAL REMAINS...the man is an incredible drummer and is lightning fast. was very cool to see him play live!!!
Are you fucking kidding me... most drummers from youtube (Kollias, 66Samus, MorganvanHelsing, Bram Trommelen, Patrik Fält, etc.) could literally destroy them. And you call this the "World's FASTEST drummer finals". Come on, that's embarrassing.
I could easily crush most of these guys and I'm not even that good. Especially if the rules are (as they appear) flat foot technique, sloppy as you want
