Ok , yes he is a good drummer. The best? Hell no! he is a medium skilled drummer that plays his stuff very well in the band / bands he plays in but comes with nothing inovative. His drumming has nothing "spicy" or someting trademarked to him.The stuff he plays can be replaced by any possible drummer as it isn't something very creative. If you call this the best best drummer then what in the hell are : Jamie Saint Merat (Ulcerate) Chris Turner (Oceans Ate Alaska) John Longstreth (Origin) Mario Duplantier (Gojira) Matt Garstka (Animals as Leaders) Kevin Paradis (Beninghted/Svart Crown) George Kollias (Nile) Gene Hoglan (Death) Eloy Casagrande (Sepultura) Sebastian Lanser (Obscura) Maciek Kowalski (Mgla) Spencer Prewett (Archspire) Brann Dailor (Mastodon) And alot many many MANY others ! You guys hating on the people saying this guy is overrated is the same example when Lars Ulrich fans were triggered when Lars started being called a mediocre drummer which in time proved to be true.Just take more time , document yourself, listen to various drummers from various music genres then you can do a comparison.Lamb of God sounds great ! And it's one of the best bands out there of it's kind but Chris himself is nothing special. And to everyone saying " Wow he is so good cuz he has rhythm", well fuck me but isn't that the basic role of any drummer ?: RHYTHM? It's like saying: " This car is so good because it has wheels that roll". I'm not hating and i loved / love Lamb of God but i'm just stating pure facts and from time to time please do take good criticism in consideration.Cheers !
Jimi Hendrix was not the best guitarist either, in my opinion. Neither was EVH. That said, I believe Danny Carey is possibly the best drummer out there. Again, my opinion🤷🏻♂️😆
So True!!!!..I agree completly with you!!... I just got sober!..I was a thirty pack a day drunk!!... And I havent played my Ten pice drum kit in all most a year, I just strted playin lamb of god Again! Because of Chris Adler and your! Channel!..Thanks man MUCH LUV!!! Clinton Dearborn from NH USA.CANT WAIT TO GRUGE FUCK SOME LAMB ON THE DRUMS AGAIN LOL..
@@behindthen0thing525 well it's a good thing he doesn't consider himself the greatest. Also disagree about him pushing himself. He jumped into a band as a drummer who couldn't play drums, so he had to learn along the way while trying to make the band work. He is where he's comfortable. I'm sure if he started like most drummers do, woodshedding hours and hours BEFORE even thinking about being a band, the outcome may be different.
@@behindthen0thing525watch the video he admits he is not the best. Chris may not be one of the greats but he surely influenced me in my drumming and for that I am thankful for.
@@deadmoonscriptures1556 it doesn't mean nothing. It is not as significant as straight practice and technique, but to say that pre-existing knowledge of another instrument or (especially) music theory means nothing is just wrong. Someone with an existing understanding of how music works and it's general structures will certainly have a better start than a complete beginner.
@@markhynes5160 I think you misunderstood me; my point was that it doesn't matter where you are in comparison to someone else on your musical journey. You can gather all the knowledge in the world, if you don't put it into proper dedicated practice it will never yield results. His thoughts regarding others progress in relation to his own is what "means nothing". I will attempt to be more clear in the future.
Art does a pretty decent job, but Chris was the pillar of the band. The guitars and riffs are always top notch but his drumming is what I dig the most when I blast it in my car.
Is he the fastest? No. Is he the most technical? No. But what Chris does have is pocket, and taste. He doesn’t wow you with his chops, he does what every rock solid drummer does, sits in the song, keeps the pocket fat, and the feel perfect.
Damn. Didn’t realize he learned so late! One thing I’ve always loved about his drumming is how clean it sounds: not just timing but volume. Each stroke sounds the same. He always looks so relaxed. I bet it was learning to play along with the Aerosmith cd rather than starting with a drum pad tbh
I love how the one camera guy keeps wanting to cut to Willie like...fuuuuck! I know this is supposed to be about Chris right now, but God Damnit they're both so F-ing good! 😁🤘
Man, I used to play drums about 15 years ago before I got married and I hope to pick it up again soon but i love music. I came across this video by chance. Not a LOG fan because of the vocals, but these two fucking rip! Came to watch Chris play, found myself wanting more camera on Willes hands. Both are great but Wille is a goddamn beast!
When they got done playing "now you've got something to die for" immediately in my head the beginning of "the faded line" started and I had to pause this and go listen. Same thing would've probably happened at the end of "blood of the scribe" but the video ENDED HALFWAY THRU THE SONG! BOOOOO!
My dad(who’s a drummer) had this on dvd when it came out that we got at a local music shop back home in Santa Cruz. I was 12 in ‘05 and I would watch it a lot and get pumped to go up in my room and play my kit! Brought back lots of memories!
I learned guitar at 13 and learned the very basics of drumming shortly after, but never had my own kit, so I’ve only played a handful of times. I’m 24 now, idk if it’s too late or not, and I don’t really care. I’m gonna do my best to do what I can. This is very reassuring to know he was around my age when he learned. I know that’s never gonna be me, but hell, at least I’m already better than Lars
I remember watching this as 13-14 year old in 2005-2006, just started to play drums, being mindblown by Chris's playing and trying to emulate everything he did. Even his assjumping on the throne. Love it.
One of my favourite band, and most definitely one of my all time favourite drummers, hes unbelievable. Also I absolutely love Mike Bordin from faith no more
I've watched this set individually a few times, but it's the first time I've heard that they've never played Blood of the Scribe live before. It's an absolute beast, and such a shame that they don't.
I love Chris Adler, he's one of the greatest of our generation, but is so funny to me because when I see him playing looks like he's driving a tractor LOL
Lamb of god is my favorite band by a long shot. One thing i think everyone appreciates is how professional the band is when it comes to playing music. If you've seen them live you know exactly what i mean. They sound better live than on record and not many bands actually do that. Ill always miss chris but the new guy can at least play his songs lol.
Sonically, they fucking rip. Vocally, I can’t stand it. I’d rather have all the instruments minus the growling or whatever it is Blythe does. I just never could get into that vocal style.
If anything Willie's performance is more impressive to me haha. As both a guitarist and drummer I feel like I'd struggle way more with the guitar parts lol.
One of my favorite things about him is how comfortable he looks and his backbeat strait up looks like a whip. Love it. I wanna know what the trashy cymbal he has about 10 O’clock high. It sounds like the devil exhaling. I want one.
