The last 5 minutes of that game, I was pissed off at LSU as a Bama fan. That O-line gave up on Zach Mettenberger. You never give up on your QB as an O-lineman. Your only job is to protect your QB.
TJ Yeldon, Amari Cooper, OBJ, Jarvis Landry, Landon Collins, OJ Howard, Kenyon Drake, and AJ McCarron. I’m sure I’m missing some on the o-line. And I know bamas MLB went pro too. Crazy to see so many NFL stars on one field.
AJ's mom became a TV star, but a reluctant one. Thanks to the whole family for the great memories. Great line:"Get out and throw the ball around with your pop".............Love it
Almost every starter on these two teams at least played some in the NFL and some went on to be all pro’s. Your just wrong, if you put this team together today they would be a decent NFL team.
I wonder if Mettenberger said something in the huddle to cause that. Looking back on the third down play from a play calling standpoint, they put in both backs on either side of him as extra blockers, and we brought Cyrus Jones on a DB Blitz, so one could almost forgive the play call on that one - a little bit of a missed assignment for the line, but not necessarily giving up. Now the 4th down play? Empty backfield, but we only rushed four - terrible effort and/or missed assignment entirely by the line. Granted, I have no idea where the LSU line's respective heads were at for that play, but it's hard not to assume they were throwing "lookout" blocks - meaning, you turn around and just tell the QB to "lookout"!
***** Ugh...and we go again with "Don't try to change your story now" bullshit LOL...This game stood out to me as the best that year in terms of execution on offense...happy now?
I think the fake punt conversion was what really made the change. Up until that point LSU was still very much in it. After Alabama converted and then scored later on, you could 'see the air' go out of the LSU sideline. Still an absolutely great game played by both sides, barring that last offensive drive for the LSU o-line.
Those two early fumbles for LSU were killers. Could have come out with a big early lead and then held on for dear life in the second half. Instead, fell behind, weakest of all Chavis defenses faltered, and had to eliminate the run game in the second half to pass every play, resulting in a Mett getting blitzed to hell. Yet another huge bummer for LSU in this series since Saban's been at Bama.
I don't know how Kevin Norwood and DeAndrew White aren't doing anything in the NFL, they were reliable and Norwood was an LSU wrecking machine, including the Honey Badger in the championship
