9.8 sec? It is very smart to check the accelaration with 3 HUGE persons in SMALL car! How much each of you weigh? 130 kg? Or simply non of you can drive?
I sat just fine in the back seat behind my seating position set. Im 6' even with shoes on. Its cozy, but doeable for 1-2hr trips. The ride quality is great so that helps in comfort. FWIW.
Why would you perform this car's acceleration test with 3 people in it when you test others with just the driver? How is the viewer supposed to get any valid information out of this?
.... and the passenger space thing. I am 187cm tall. When I carry passengers in my A4 allroad nobody is complaining about space in the back. I think you have moved the seat as far back as possible. This is far from necessary unless you're a 7-foot basketball player. This car is the size of BMW 3 or Mercedes C. No more no less.
Living now in Colorado, and being avid skier, I have to say that this car is really good for CO. I am driving VW CC but with DSG transmission, and that car with true winter tires do not have any issue on mountains. So this Allroad would be a beast on Loveland pass. However, since CO has horrible roads in the cities, I must say that maybe Avant would be better option for those who want station wagon. Tires on Allroad will transfer much more rad noise and bumps to cabin then stock tires on A4 Avant. I tried A4 with 8-speed ZF, and it works great. However, much less aggressive then DSG in CC. It would be cool if Audi offers S-tronic 7 speed with 2 liter four banger like they do in Europe.
Roman and Nathan, you guys are the best reviewers on RU-vid. I enjoy watching your videos even when they are of cars that I have little to no interest in.
That's funny. I see this is a 7+ year old review. They're quite the deal now. Gotta start somewhere. TFL is my go to when looking at off road capability of wagons, SUVS and crossovers. Even though we bought one of their least favs. Cheers.
No, Audi definitely brought the C5 allroad to the states from 2001 to 2005. And it's called the "allroad". There is no capitalization. And the back seats are certainly much larger than the B8 based allroad. I mean, they certainly aren't the back seats of an A8L or anything, but they are definitely very comfortable to sit two friends in without trouble.
Guys, how can you say "This is a small car"? This is classed as a Medium sized car at least in Europe where it comes from. A Small car would be the Audi A3 for example. And the A2 would be a Compact.
Thanks for the comment and criticism, we really appreciate it. Just to clear we currently receive 13 likes for every 1 dislike. This is not "worst like:dislike ratio out of the car reviewers" as you state. However we are always looking to get better so thanks for the comment.
Another great review guys. It's nice to see a review so unique, which is the whole reason as to why I subscribed . Most other reviews are so bland and boring and as everyone says, "robotic".
Unfortunately the A4 Avant is no longer available for sale in the US. The Allroad drives better then the Avant did. The revised suspension and interior for 2013 is worth it as you get more for around the same money.
It is far cheaper!! However you feel how cheap the Subaru is in every way. Driving feel and luxury, the Audi is far superior. However the Subaru is not a bad car at all, in fact it is a great car for what it is.
stop hatting on them they make good review just because you love the car and can't fine any faults with it others can. They are comparing the car to other cars so they have to look at both the good and the bad if it not up to date it's going to get bad reviews. And whats your problem with 0-60 you can't tell me that you don't care if the car has a good pick up or not and it doesn't matter what car. It does 9.89 sec above altitude with 3 persons is good.
Guys you are mixing this A4 allroad and the old car witch was A6 allroad and also comes out new this sommer. So you tested the facelifted A4 allroad and the all new bigger A6 allroad comes out in sommer 2012 in Germany
hey guys can i just make a little suggestion? in your introduction video you have win every video, change the porsche 911 to the two audi r8s and still leave the fiat Arbath girl at the end. All your cars are up to date exept the 911 even though it is still sold.... Love the great work! My favorite automotive reviews of all!
Noticed like many other that have commentated here that you guys call it the Audi Allroad, and not the Audi A4 Allroad, like it's called in Europe. Strange since they also have a brand new A6 Allroad out. So I did take a look at Audi's site for USA and noticed that you guys are correct, Audi are not releasing, at least not yet, the brand new A6 Allroad and you seems to be missing out on a lot of good Audi's. Like all of the estate version and the RS3, RS4, RS5, S6, S7, S8.
Seeing as the comments are 10 years old just thought I’d mention we love ours and none of the alternatives mentioned are even slightly relevant in 2024 going on 2025.
Can you note your height and size on your videos? Some new viewers may not know. Seems all normal sized cars are small for you two... I'm 5'11", 75kg and considered tall and big in my country. I am guessing you guys are at least 6'3" and 100kg??? Anyway keep up the good work and enjoy your videos...
The acceleration test seems weird. I don't know if there is any difference between US / EU spec, but the EU A4 Allroad 2.0TFSI s-tronic goes 0-60mph in less than 8 secs. And it does rev higher when starting. Maybe you should use the sports mode of the gearbox?
Just because it is also electro-mechanic, that doesn't mean it cannot be electro-magnetic as well. Even though Nathan might not have meant to say "electro-magnetic", it most certainly is. I am not aware of any electro-mechanic steering system which is not electro-magnetic. Plus, as far as I can see, "electro-magnetic" is a perfectly fine characterization of the technology at use.
I'd just like to point out that there is plenty of room in the back. If this "Nathan" chooses to have his seat ridiculously far back, then you can't blame the car!
roman, please stop focusing on the negative comments. there will always be people complaiing n bitching for some non-sense shits. just ignore them and keep up the good work, u have so many fans and we all will support you.
I say the two biggest competitors are the Subaru Outback and the Volvo XC70 and of the three, I'd choose the Subaru first followed by the Audi and last the Volvo solely based on their AWD performance. If I was buying it for an everyday car, I might choose the Volvo over the Audi but I would still take the Subaru first.
Guys.. the A4 Allroad is just a smaller version than the A6 Allroad .. theres no "the new A4 Allroad is replacing the old A6 Allroad". And how do you actually compare this with the Evogue ?!? - Aint it the Audi Q3 or Q5 which is the Audi-ditto to a Landrover Evogue?
Who cares about how professional somebody dresses on a RU-vid car review? Also, how many people who buy a luxury car want to go on hardcore off road trails? Another thing is that TFL car does things in "real world testing" meaning that they don't use everything in perfect condition because nobody really lives in perfect driving conditions. One last thing, nice grammar.
Our A3 2.0t Quattro with dsg 6 speed and apr tuned gets the heck out of its own way...the allroad is probably around 6 seconds or less 0-60 at sea level, apr tuned...with one guy
Not to hate on Audi's (I own a RS6) but this car is a poor substitute for a Subaru Outback. I've got that Outback thru places where monster trucks would get buried. The Outback has significantly more space than this car too. Unless you are strictly want a tiny wagon with silver rings but the Outback instead.
I don't believe the 22.6 mostly highway number. Reviews don't tend to take highways much and are always trying to get to the edge of the car's performance. Lot's of stops and starts. How many miles driven?
i dont understand why you guys test the 0-60 at altitude though, i mean, who's gonna go 0-60 in high altitude anyway, usually high altitude is off road
Nice review but kind of not sure how this can be compared to an Evoque. (Not saying i think Evoque's are better, but just in a different class for comparison). I'm starting to like this allroad quite a bit especially after driving it. Acceleration was not the best. Wish there was a 3.6 model.
They left their xc70, and I wish they would have brought the V60 (I own an S40)... I was referring however, to the RS's that Audi makes, I wish those were available here (though I would never buy an Audi ;D ) because many interesting cars are not available here. I guess if it doesn't sell well here though, they don't bring it. Makes business sense.
I hope these guys realize that they consistently have the worst like:dislike ratio out of the car reviewers I have watched so instead of being stubborn and using their typical excuse of "real world testing", they should actually listen to the criticism they receive...
Nice light and breezy review! Would be nice to see how new '14 Subaru Forester XT compares to Allroad (for me, Allroad proved rather cramped (#@$%^&! center console!) and ride was harsher than expected, but Allroad interior was classier and a little quieter).
You know what's a shame. The price tag still starts high. I would expect VW to make a lower priced version of this but no. That's why I don't like VW and Audis, they don't make cars that are the same but with diffrent badges. Unlike Toyota and Lexus, Lexus is just a higher class Toyota where Audi is just a higher class vehicle with gadgets shared with VW.
