I have a V sedan. It’s that merge you’re looking for. Plenty of room, power, and visibility lol. Can’t beat it. And more reliability than that “AMG” you mentioned at the end.
I agree with you bro. These things, especially this generation of cts-v, always turns my head when I see them on the road. They’re very uncommon to see on the road. Definitely going to be my next car
omg the ORIGINAL Blue Diamond coat is my fav. I work at a Cadillac Dealership and we have a customer with 2 Manual transmission Vs in that same color from 2009...
Honestly, I would consider swapping the regular CTS grill and badging for a sleeper look, though most people who know what a CTS-V is will probably recognize something is up pretty quickly
This video is the exact comparison I was doing, ended up purchasing a 2011 CTS-V Coupe and don't regret it for a moment. Love that supercharged V8 power in a classy looking body.
1:57 pretty sure you meant to say Z06 Alex lmao. I'll forgive you though. While you can get a Grand Sport for 30k all day, I have seen earlier model Z06's around the low 30's, which in my opinion is a much better deal. Not just because of the LS7, but the Dry Sump oil system, better suspension, and better brakes. While the interior is GM standard quality for the height of the recession (Cobalt steering wheel), I never thought it was so awful that it took away my experience from the car. While interior space is limited, it is by no means small (I've seen guys fit a full set of wheels with them in their car). The LS3 though, is by far in my opinion, the best engine GM has made in their LS series. My poverty spec base model C6 had been great to me reliability wise. Alex is right though, I have accepted the jorts wearing, new balance strutting, new C8 corvette hating stereotype of old boomer owners! The CTS-V though, that thing is sweet. If I could, I would absolutely own a second gen V Wagon.
also dont forget that if u get a non vert gs manual u get a dry sump also so if u want a more "balanced" car and boost ready motor a manual gs coupe is the way to go. Dont get me wrong tho if u just want a monster N/A build a h/c ls7 will never get old :)
I got my 2013 cts v sedan for 30k a month ago and I’ve loved every second of it. In my opinion, the sedans look cleaner than the coupe, but that’s just me
I've had my ctsv for a few years now and the main thing I agree with is the fact that you don't have that slam you back into your seat moment between shifting and taking off. It's very luxury feeling and toned down despite how fast its truly going. But everything else I've thoroughly enjoyed. One other thing I disagree with him on is price. I got my ctsv, the one he uses in this video, for 30k with only 15k miles on it. Nothing wrong with it,, had a clean history. Now I realize that's probably not the norm, but finding one cheaper than 40k is doable.
Mustang guy here: the thought of having a blue CTS V Wagon with a manual and 1000hp is definitely one of my dream cars from GM, and a C6 ZR1 of course lol
I couldn't make up my mind so I got both. First I got a 2017 Grand Sport 2LT, 8 speed (automatic). Then I finally came across the CTS-V coupe I was always looking for, a 2013 supercharged 6.2-V8 with 3 pedals and 6 gears, for a hell of a good deal. So after owning both cars at the same time side by side, I still can't decide which I like more.
If you have to ask, then you are not ready. Own a 2012 V coupe m6 and love it every time I step into it. A great platform for mod and repairs, when it does need to be addressed is relatively manageable compared to its European counterpart.
ill be honest with you. As a car guy with money not being an issue i would probably take the CTSV but being around most non car guy people no one even understands how good the CTSv is until i have to describe it to them. The corvette turns heads no matter who you drive by. They see how good it looks and they all know its a fast car simply from its looks. Most CTsVs just look like any other cadi and most people just pass it by. Obviously when you are a car guy and hang around other car guys they all show it respect but the Vette is the car i would pick if it was my money on the line if i was in the market for a 30-40k sports car.
Dude you do know that the 2010 GS does not have magna rides like the caddy and the newer Z06 vettes have.. the ctsv2 set the nuremburg track record for a sedan...and they are one of the few cars to come with an actual G Force meter so you can see how many Gs you can pull around corners.
Alex committed one of the cardinal car sins. He didn't put the seat back to the original seating position in the Vette. It doesn't bug me in my lexus cause I have seating position memory buttons, but it used to annoy the shit outta me when I'd let my brother use my Integra, then my tall ass goes to get in it, and I smash my knee into the steering wheel 😂😭
The answer is SO CLEAR. at least for me. THERE IS NO CAR YOU CAN GET FOR THE PERFORMANCE AND PRICE OF A VETTE. Not to mention looks. C6 allllll the way it’s one of my dream cars and I’m buying one 🔥
I’m on the fence regarding this exact comparison. At 53 and never owning a Vette, I feel the 2012 - 2013 Grand Sport is calling my name. I’ve dreamed about owning a Corvette since high school and I gotsta know! Thanks for a great video.
2012 CTS-V Sedan -700whp -runs 9's -60k miles $34k takes it people. Cammed, headers, e85, cooling system upgraded, two sets of wheels (one is a drag set). The lone public video on my page is me running a 10.1x at 139mph spinning off the line and still dialing in the tune.
For the people who say the Vs are underrated that’s a good thing. Keeps it a sleeper. I love destroying hellcat owners with just pulley tune and e85. Gap them for under 2 grand
I owned a C6 before my cts v and I will say they both have their pros and cons. With that said, I’d go with the ctsv again anyday! Just wish the manuals were easier to find and not as expensive
Whoa! Corvette's getting cheaper by the day - versus Mustangs, Camaro's, Challengers, etc. I would personally say it's the complete opposite!!! And even though, I'm not personally a huge Corvette fan (a lot due to that trash interior) - this Grand Sport looks very good :)
I have a 05 C6 with an MGW short shifter. It drives like butter. I have a custom interior and steering wheel being added, custom leather stock seats, suede perforated inserts, foam padding added to the center console, a flat bottom wheel that is also carbon fiber, and I will be putting 305 tires on the rear. Not sure if I want to upgrade the brakes, the stock brakes are really amazing on this car. At 3200lbs and over 400 horsepower you really can't go wrong with the thing. The LS2/LS3 takes power easily sounds objectively 10x better than any rice car and the C6 has a timeless look inside and out. It isn't hard to modernize the thing either. Just have to know the right place to take yours to to get a custom interior done. Id rather have a C6 upgraded to my liking than a C7.
See now THIS is hard because the V comes with an LSA while the GS is the better go-fast platform... so yea... either way MAKE SURE you have your New Balance shoes.
I’ve owned both and it kinda comes down to what kind of comfort level u want or what style I want, both handle well, both get up and go, but in my opinion, I’m more into performance and u can take the vette and take it to an insane level and it’s got enough comfort for a long drive and it not kill ur back, and I’d rather take the vette also bc they’re both based on the ls3 but the grandsport u won’t have to pay any extra working around that super charger and put that same money towards boost of ur choice and make even more power than the stock blower on the CTS-v is capable of, I still have my 2012 grandsport and the only thing stock on it now is the radio 😂 u just wanna keep nodding the grandsport and there’s more options in the appearance department as well
I tried to find a CTSV Wagon when I was buying a new car. but that was so hard and I end up with Chevy SS. but I still thinks that CTSV Wagon is one of the most beautiful family friendly car.
I wouldn't get a grandsport over a CTSV. The V is just the right amount of speed with the grocery getter camouflage. Now a ZO6 on the other hand I want so bad.
Personally choose the Vette but that’s because it’s what I plan for my next car hopefully next year but the CTS V is everything I love. Fast family sedan 😂
I kind of want to argue the no space point. I do have a base C5 and I have moved across the country North to South and vice versa and, granted I couldn't fit everything obviously, I was able to fit everything I needed in the back. I also had to leave space for my cat to come with me too. While it may not be an ideal car, I mean it's a low sports car what do you expect, I was able to fit alot more than I would've imagined in the car.
CTS-V coupe looks like something out of a cyberpunk type of movie. Even little 12y/o me thought its design looked really cool. Just wish that they made more of the coupe variant.
I dont know what you mean you cant see out of it? own a 14 V coupe and i see fine out of it just fine. If you would have said out of a camaro i would understand. The auto isnt bad (well once you get a trans tune). overall i love it and it does get some stares when i go places.
Interior on these are fine. He’s just a carbon copy of people complaining about the interior because that’s the thing to do. It’s perfect for the car and year you don’t need anymore.
Currently have the same V as your test car but in the red tint coat paint. Stock except for exhaust. Here's the difference. My CTS gets thumbs up and photographed every time I take her out. People chase me down to see what it is, you could drive that Corvette across the country and maybe in some tiny town in BFE IOWA some 14 yr will want to sit in it, otherwise no one is gonna give it more than a passing glance. You may have a wide grin on your face when you stomp on it, in the Cadillac however, your face is gonna hurt from laughing your ass of at every stop light and long stretch of country road every time your in it. It's the best used car for the money that exists, and I think the most exciting beautiful car Cadillac and GM has produced in decades. Drive one and try not to laugh like a little school girl, you'll lose. Great review and comparison.
A stock manual GS runs mid-low 12’s so unless this one is MODDED it’s not running an 11.5 love both cars and the CTS-V Coupe is my favorite all tine Caddy but I will take the GS especially a cheaper one...
Which is preferred in a later model C6 GS: auto or manual? I know it's subjective, but I'm 47 and on the fence about shifting all the time. I live in a metro area. I don't need it for a daily. I have a 2006 Nissan 350Z auto. and I hate the way it shifts. VERY slow. Even using the manual mode, you have to anticipate the shifts and press the lever at 5K rpm if you want it to shift by 6500K HAHA. I really don't want it to race, mostly touring and back roads joy rides. I just wonder if the manual would get old quick.
I would definitely get the cts-v cause it’s more comfortable and classy always loved the looks and also to non car people a corvette looks like a miata
Just a quick question. I ordered a set of coilovers from yall 4 days short of a month ago and haven't received any emails since the initial order and shirt tracking number. It said generally 7 to 10 business days so im just confused as to what I should do
