Yesterday my grandson’s headlight went out. I watched your video, bought the t20 tool and the headlight bulb and when he got home from school we followed your instructions. Had it fixed in 20 minutes. Not bad for a 71 year old grandma! Thank you.
As a mechanic myself I would love to thank you for showing folks that they can repair these simple things themselves. The shops are just thieves when it comes to these things...I'm actually a heavy truck and equipment mechanic NOT an auto mechanic (professionally) but do all my own repairs...I'm sorry that the dealers just rob folks of their hard earned money for these kinds of repairs and for the most part give all of us in the profession a bad name...trust me we are NOT all just shysters...most of us like most of you have family budgets we work with...it's the shops and management that direct us...but yet some of the small shops take advantage...NOT COOL...your video is awesome and helps folks help themselves at a fraction of the price...
I think GM read your comment... I have a 2015 Equinox and they removed that feature. I’m gonna have to figure out a way to change that bulb without taking the whole front end appart.
Thank you so much!!! The dealership charged me $175 to change the bulb....4 months later the other went out!! So I looked up on RU-vid and bless your heart I CAN DO THIS MY SELF!! WooooHoooo thank youuuuu!!
I just came from AutoZone bought a light bulb and asked if they would replace it and the guy told me it takes too long about 15 minutes! And here you did it probably in less than five LOL thank you for sharing your video!
your video is awesome , the oil change company refused to change it because they said you have to take off the entire bumper !!! so i called a chevy dealer and they wanted $180 to change a fricken bulb ! I hung up on them and went and saw your video, now 5 minutes later I am done ! and $180 richer. ha ! dealerships have not changed a bit, still "rip off's"
Thank you so much autozone refused to assist me🤬stated “difficult to get to bulb” suggested I take to nearest tire shop! On my way to buy tool😊stay tuned🙏🏾
Miss Angela ! Thank you so much for this informative video 💗 all of us frugal folk trying to save a buck but aren't too mechanically inclined are blessed to have you
Angela, thank you so much for making this video! I was able to buy a $17 bulb and do it myself. I’ve always been told to “let someone else take care of it,” but it was very empowering to do it all by myself! Thank you!!!
I used a T20 hex head star shaped bit. I followed this video, and it took less than a minute to pop the new one on! Thanks so much. The mechanic was charging $40 for what was $15 of tools. Thanks for helping me pocket $25!
I’m a mechanical guy but don’t do a lot of car work. Stoped to advanced auto to get the bulb and the guy behind the counter said that it sucks changing them “the worst ones ever” so I go on RU-vid and click on your video and turns out that it’s easy peasy! Thank you for a great video!
I wouldn't have tried this without your video. Very easy to do and saved at least $50 for the one bulb replacement. Want to do my other bulb now so the color of the light is equal between the two. Thanks!
Angela, thank you so very much. We bought a '13 'nox used, only to find out after the fact that there was no 'low oil' light to let us know that the 'eco' engine uses oil and when it gets low, causes physical damage resulting in a $2000 repair if I don't want the timing chain to fail requiring an engine replacement. When I went to change a simple bulb and it looked like I had to disassemble the entire front end to get to it, I did a quick youtube search and your video popped right to the top. You saved me money, time, and a potential jail sentence as my imagination was getting the better of me regarding Chevy's ethically abhorrent refusal to fix these vehicles known documented bad engines. Thank you again for saving my peace of mind. Blessings and well wishes to you and yours.
1st off I'm so PROUD OF YOU ! For being a woman and a woman of color getting it done like my beautiful black sisters always do ! I just had to do the same thing to my mother-in-laws car and I said to my wife , LOOK A SISTER DID THIS ! I was so PROUD of you doing it for yourself ! YOU ROCK !
Angela no problem. I did mine last night right after I commented. I always replace both sides at the same time so I think I got it done in 10 minutes. another tip is try not touch bulb itself. Usually on the back of the package it says to wear gloves, mine just had a picture of gloves on it. The oils from your hands can mess up any halogen bulbs and shorten their life. I think you, like me were able to just grab it by the base and easily get it into the socket. Thanks again!
Thank you for the simple tutorial! I’m not a handy guy, but this made it very simple to see what I was getting in to! Torx #20 is the correct bit. This video will save anybody a one hour labor charge at the repair shop.
So my friend John called me and said he couldn't get something off his car to get in there... So I watched your video and I sent it to him and he got here... I thought he didn't know about the screw he had to take off ... But actually he said he couldn't get the big cap off on the inside... I said John did you watch her video... John says no man... That's John you got to reach in there with two hands and turn the cap... So I did it for him and I'm 66 years old... Now I could have just said oh you got a wonderful video... Sometimes you got to say good lady good girl done a good video and I appreciate it...
Out of all the videos out there, yours was easy to follow. You are very thorough and stupendous. My husband changes it within minutes including the minor struggles. Next time you encounter another fixture with your equinox, feel free to share. Thanks hun.
I’m so glad I found this video! I had to buy a torx t20 to get that screw out and followed your directions and was able to change both of my bulbs in around 15 minutes. I’m so happy to see other women making these kinds of tutorials it’s saved me a bunch of money.
Oh my days!! I was just about to tell my wife that I wasn't going to be able to get it done. I did one last search and found YOU!! Thanks soooo much!!❤🖤💚
Who knew three years done the line this video would help me out so much. Who knew it would be that easy. Kinda glad I looked this up, cause for the life if me I could not figure out how to replaces it without destroying my headlight from the top. Glad to know where to look now! This should be a piece of cake!
I just did it took an hour to change both sides. Getting the bulb and cap aligned was a bit troublesome. Hopefully I’m good for another 100k. Very strange that it’s done through the wheel well, I remember when you changed light bulbs through the engine
Thank you so much for having uploaded this video. This was such a lifesaver. I had just paid $350 to have work done on my car. Then two days later my light goes out. I knew if i looked on RU-vid I would find a video showing me that I could do it by myself. And I did it. I did it. Saved $50 that they were going to charge me to do it.
Great video, thank you for doing it in real time.. If I can make 1 suggestion, get some rubber gloves or such, you dont want to touch the glass of the bulb, it can cause the bulb to burn out quicker (or so I have been told).. Other than that, WOW you do make it look easy and now Ill be doing my wife's car! thank you!
Absolutely. You need to wear clean gloves, cotton, latex, vinyl, whatever. The oils from your hands cause the glass which gets extremely hot on a halogen bulb to break down slightly and allow air into the bulb. The filament will then oxidize and burn out much sooner. What I do is take everything apart, remove the old bulb. Then put your gloves on, put the new bulb in the socket and into the headlight assembly. Try not to let the bulb touch anything as you do. Use a fresh glove(s) for each bulb you replace. Great video!
Thanks for your video. My wife stopped by one the part stores that supposedly can put it for you. The kid couldn't figure it out she said. Next time I'm in there I'll suggest that he that he watches your video 😉 Thanks again.
I am mechanically inclined and have changed dozens of headlights and could not figure out how to change it... so I googled it. Your Video nailed it! Thanks for the help!
Thanks sis!! I have a 2013 Chevy Equinox, and my lights been out for a while now. I kept calling the mechanics about it and no one would get back with me. I will try this this week!!
3 years old video and still one of the most and amazing helpful video around. Thank you much for share it. You just save us money, time and tons of aggravation.
Thank you Angela! My husband couldn't figure it out. He watched a different video which I guess left out the screw part and he couldn't get it off. I watched yours and had both changed in less than 10 minutes. 😂
FANTASTIC ANGELA!!!! Thank you so much!!! Only thing when you replace halogen bulbs wear rubber gloves the oil from skin will cause them to blow faster
Thank you so much! You just saved my husband like an hour of wasting his time because he thought he needed to take the whole front end off to get to it. We watched your video and he says he now questions his own ability to ever change a lightbulb because you did it so simply and he thought it would take forever lol so thank you for humbling him and saving us time and sanity :p
Thank you Angela for this video! Really helpful and prevented me from trying to pull apart the assembly from inside the engine compartment! (not that I had actually started doing that, or anything....)
You go girl just did my rear brake directional with another video on here now my front went out looked on RU-vid again and found your video I'm 56 thanks for sharing like you said saved a lot of money keep up the good work we're never too old to learn something⭐
Thanks for the tutorial. The location of the axes hole is in the wheel well. I popped the hood and thought it would be difficult. The I found your instructional video and said, “W0W!”, easy peezy. Thanks again.
thank you, angela, for producing this video. i was able to change the headlight bulbs on my stepdaughter's equinox very easily, with your help. i am a 47 y/o male who can pull a transmission while blindfolded, and i found this video helpful. thank you again! eric
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. It saved me from many frustrating hours, cut fingers & many.....many curse words. Also you saved me money. So again a very big "THANK YOU!!"
THANK YOU! I was looking under the hood and thought I was going to have to remove theentire headlight asembly. This took me 5 minutes, thanks to your video. "Torx" bit, size 15, or "T15" bit. GE H11-55LL, or equivalent replacement bulb.
Thank you, you are the only one who mentioned that "gas Ca" thing. I couldn't feel the bulb but could feel this thing and no idea it was behind it. Wonderful. Also the bulb comes with a red seal ring, make sure the old one is OUT
Thank you! This is great and the owner's manual not so. I found the right bit on my own, but I got stuck trying to get the dust cover off. Your tip to use two hands worked perfectly and the rest was a snap.
So helpful. Multiple other videos take you through the steps for taking off the bumper and all sorts of other nonsense. Great video and great help. Thanks!
Nice job on the video. It was very helpful. I have a 2015 Equinox which does not have the access hole in the inner fender. I had to take it loose from the top of the fender well and the outside of the fender well. That was two Torx screws and three of those plastic reusable rivets. Once you push the inner fender aside, everything else is the same. Another tip is to be sure you tuck the wires back in the headlamp well so they don't interfere with re-installing the cap on the back of the headlight. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you so much for the video! My husband is a mechanic and was going to replace my bulbs but he has been dinking around so figured I'd just do it myself! I just want to make a couple suggestions, he says to put bulb grease on the part where you put the bulb in and wear plastic gloves while installing the headlight. I think both are so the light doesnt burn out as fast. Thank you again for the video and god bless 💓
Thanks for this video. This is my second time using it. Replacing the bulb on the driver’s side is a bit more challenging. Regardless, your video gave me confidence to do this 2 years ago as opposed to “going in blind”. Now I need to replace the passenger side bulb. Awesome videos thanks a million.
You're wonderful. Keep the spirit. Glad I didn't follow the other video, which is how to change out the entire headlight and requires a whole lot more effort, including taking off the bumper. Finding your video saved me a lot of time, lady. Bless your heart. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video in real time! I just found out my passenger headlight is out on my 2012 Equinox. After watching your video I’m excited to tackle replacing it tomorrow after work. Thanks again from a fellow Equinox owner. 😁
Good job. Thank you. Great tutorial too. You used common sense and logic to accomplish this. I’ve been researching this job in order to change a bulb out for an elderly friend. This helps big time.
Thanks for the great video, I was happy to hear your back story, now just do your own oil change it's just as easy as a bulb change. I watched a video here and was so surprised how easy it was.
OMG thank you so much for this video... I just had to deal with my toilet...now the headlight... thanks to you I feel confident! I appreciate this sooooo much.
This is the best video I've seen. So far you're the only one that I've found that did it like this. All those other ones take the panels off. I knew it had to be easier. Thanks for figuring this out and saving me some cash!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your tips on how easy it is to change the bulbs on my Equinox. With your tips, both bulbs in less than 10 minutes. Took longer to buy the bulbs than to replace it. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tutorial, my low beam bulb went out this morning and I noticed it when I parked in the parking ramp at work and only saw one headlight on. I too have a 2013 and was hoping this would be a little easier to do then it was in the 2007 Pt Cruiser I had, you could get to the low beam bulb to change it, but not quite as easy getting to the high beam. $110 dollars ouch, it is far cheaper to do it yourself if you can. I'm doing mine tomorrow after work now that I seen how easy it is, thanks again.
Great video. You make it look so easy. I replaced my drivers side headlamp exactly how you showed & was done in less than 5 minutes. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I got discouraged after watching the first RU-vid video I found, which talked about removing the whole bumper (I guess they were replacing a broken headlight assembly). Figuring it couldn't be that hard, I found yours, and now five minutes later (including searching for the Torx bit!) I'm done.
Your video was fantastic and we changed our in 5 minutes... Remember once the screw comes out there is a cap inside protecting the bulb... Saved a lot of $$$ with this video :)
Ho-lee-hell. Thank you. I thought this might be like my trailblazer which took so much more time. It's freezing out so this will save possible frost bite. Thank you for the quick concise info!
Pisses me off beyond words when a dealership would suggest charging you such a ridiculous price to change a headlight rather than taking two minutes to tell you how. Good on you for doing it on your own!..great video!
THANK YOU Angela, great video and very helpful. I decided to change both bulbs even though only one was not working. Your video made it a short and easy job. Thanks again!
