Did you do it without opening tappet cover ?

On my 2010 Toyota Corolla repair manual said to release tensioner hook turn crankshaft to counterclockwise then clockwise. Now I have 2016 Toyota Corolla 2xr-fae should turn clockwise to release the hook

I found out it’s the older corolla versus the new ones, the newer tensioners don’t have that O-ring.

Some these videos the tensioner has a O ring where groove is?

You turn the crankshaft pulley right? And was the belt on when you crank it?

Just put the vehicle on ramps and you are staring right at it from the comfort of laying on your back.
