2013 Ford Focus loss of power while driving. This was after Ford reprogrammed PCM/TCM. One day after the reprogram. I ended up returning this car. Very unsafe. Very scary, especially on the highway.
I have a 2013 Ford Focus and this exact thing was happening to me!! Through trial and error and replacing everything little I could, it all came down to the throttle body. Replaced it for $200 and my car is 100% back to normal!! Very common problem with these cars!
Although an old post here's my two pence worth! Low coolant level or car thinking it's low is a common cause in petrol models. Engine fears overheating so rather than stopping dead on the road it halves combustion of fuel via the spark plugs. Therefore reducing power drastically but not fully so you can pull over. Oily plugs might confirm this, especially if a whiff of fuel from exhaust noted only when it plays up. Earth straps and smaller earth wires also very good candidate so just undue them, clean them and the area they fasten too, very well with sandpaper. Believe it or not you can also slap the dash over Speedo. No joke, it's well know that soldered contacts in circuit board lose conductivity and dry joint, as they say. Good look and take care.....
Older cars without many drama last years without having any issues modern new technology vehicles are a bunch of drama and hundreds of failures means citizens we are in serious threat by corporations and gasoline companies
My 2013 focus has power loss that starts out intermittent but it's only happening when it rains. I'll drive fine for a bit then it will happen and after about 10 min it clears itself or if I stop it will be gone. No check engine light either.
must be a software issue,,cause i have a 14 focus,,and got the recall letter,,,about stalling,, it started to stall cause i left in under a qtr tank,,and the stalling started,,got the recall done,,went to florida from new orleans, after i had it done,,drove fine,,then when i got back,, it did it again,,give it gas,,it revs but doesnt go,,then goes,,,but after driving awhile it started to run fine,,i realized that if i didnt drive everyday had the problem,,so it must be a software/computer issue,,
My subaru did this to me, and it also dies when I put my clutch in but I get no lights or anything. I ordered a fuel pump, and I am hoping that it is the fix
Can you please describe where this Purge Valve is located? Do you mean the Pirburg valve on the turbo? I changed it to aftermarket all aluminum one as the rubber disk was fractured. Or you mean something else?
This is happening to my car right now, 2014 Ford Focus Stv.... Its almost dieing in steep climbs... want to just drive the car off a cliff.. Please let me know what was wrong with the car @Hugo , thansk for the vid :D
My father's Toyota Yaris 2008 stalling while on road tomorrow I'll check it for him for a start , new spark plugs , coils are working fine , fuel injectors are fine too, fuel pump also new + new filter no catalytic converter , so no chance a clogged exhaust . there still the throttle body to be checked on road , fuel pressure , evap system ( don't think it's ) .
I have focus 12 this was happening to me yesterday night ,engine failure but when I tourn off the car the problem was fixed until I go over 2k accelerating and the has engine lose power (hp) to go like no turbo or something driving at highway 70km/h 😱
Almost same with my peugeot 206 that would start normal but would died after 2mins of driving once i release the pedal. and the same thing happen on idle - died after 2mins of start. i would managed to restart it after several attempts and would be good for the day untill i parked it for more than an hour, then the problem start again. What might that be please,.any ideal?
I am having the same issue with the 2015 focus 1.0 Ecoboost. The scanner reads that the oxygen sensor is a problem. Did you replace the sensor and it went back to normal?
Great video there . Please my 2004 Ford focus usually dies out and loose power when I am driving for a long distance. When I switch it off it will start right away and everything will run fine for about 5 minutes and the scenario will repeat itself. I have replaced the fuel pump assembly, fuel filter and plugs but no changes . Please I need advice from experienced mechanics and ford owners. It has about 160.000kms on it. Thanks
My wife loss her job due to this problem! Her drive to work is 30 mins about 20 minutes into it the 2013 focus shuts off! Had it towed to the ford dealership and they said they would start at the battery and work they way back! they wanted $250 for a battery at Lakeland ford Florida. I bought one at orielys and it stalled on the way out parking lot! Car is in my driveway about to have them repo the piece of shit
@@tirewacomI’m having the same issue. I could’ve gotten rear ended- my fusion stalled and wouldn’t accelerate in the middle of the road while going 60mph+
Ulises Orozco has this happened to you? My girlfriends car is doing this now and not sure what to do to it. No one this has happened to seems to have solved this issue.
@@mototime8975 Yeah true that, they want you to do this and that and try this first and later to see if there any changes while your vehicle is suffering and for me is just a waste of time. I mean, what's their problem anyway, they gonna get paid by Ford anyway because it's a faulty transmission by the manufacturer. As for the spark plugs, forget every 100k, for Ford is every 60k or less. And watch videos in how to clean your sensors and throttle body cause the dealers are so dependent of their machine for codes that they don't care doing manually. Overall, save up some money and trade in your vehicle for any Honda, Toyota, Mazda and KIA. Never buy any GM and Ford cars, they are crap. Those makes don't have the fancy stuff that Ford puts on their vehicles but they are quality. Cheers
Exactly! It wasn’t until it fully broke down on a county road with a blown tranny fuse that they listened. Of course it helped that I walked in demanding the service manager.
