Having the same exact issue with my 2015 SE Focus. The fuse compartment in between the battery and air cleaner is the issue. Looks to be either a loose connection or a fuse heating up and causing the car to stall out. It will also lock the transmission into Park, which I believe is a Safety interlock feature. When I pulled up slightly on the positive cable and played with it, my car would start with the ignition in the "On" position. Thanks for the video! Very helpful indeed.
Damn, I think this is the same "ghost", that is plaguing my 201 focus. This random behavior just started happening.,... Thanks for uploading,.. wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi K Norman, Thanks a lot for your video, you save me a lot of money fix this same issue on my Focus 2015 SE. Continuous placing educational videos for DIY car guys. Have nice days ahead.
Thankyou so much, I have a friends car doing the same thing I narrowed it down because of a bcm code relating to power loss at module A. Another RU-vid video shows a focus having this same issue when you move that panel but he didn’t go into the fix and the comments are off lol. I fiddled with that panel a few minutes ago and sure enough the car shut off. Gonna fix it tomorrow now I know what’s in that panel, thanks.
Had the same thing happen to my 2016 focus st. My car died on the side of the road and it was mega fuse #9 for the body control module. I swapped #8 that is for the engine fan and it solved the problem! Get the fuse quick! I did that in a 115° day
Excellent video. HOWEVER, the car can go crazy if the battery is low, as simple as that. May not start, may try to start but can't. Measuring the battery is tricky. IF you open a door, the computer goes on and the battery is loaded more than at rest for awhile. Open the hood and wait awhile (45 min), then measure what the battery reads. It should be the same every day really 2.4 - 2.6V if hood opened and left for awhile. Other wise, it reads lower like -0.25v of that if the computer is on. When changing a battery, they are heavy, and that front portion of the battery case needs to be disconnected by pulling up on it. I can see how these fuses might get flexed in a battery change.
Had an issue with one of these fuses on my ST, turned out you can't buy those fuses anywhere, went to the junk yard, ripped that fuse box out of a base model focus and made sure to grab one and a couple spares, radiator was fixed for 63 cents
@@fairfax_fran5109 yeah you can get em online a lot of places, I should've said you can't buy em from brick and mortar stores in the US, sometimes you need one today, not in a day or a week
