2013 hyosung gt650r 

i had one of these for my first bike. i bought mine new and for someone looking to buy one, ill share my experiences and you can make up your own minds: The good: 1) these are a good sized bike for someone looking to learn on a "big" bike. 2) they sound good. 3) good on fuel 4) look good. 5) good value for what you get. The bad: 1) front fork seals started leaking after the first 1000k's (replaced under warranty) fork seals leaked again at 6000k's 2) engine has good power when temp gauge is at 3 bars or below, at 4+ bars, engine loses power. (normal operating temp is 3 bars, but if your at traffic lights it will climb) power comes back when temp drops. 3) throttle response isn't great and is not linear, (twist your wrist, power.. twist more.. power... twist more... no power increase... twist more... alot of power.) 4) usually in hot weather (but cold start) the bike would idle but stall after 15-20 secs, start it again and it would be fine. It has also stalled on me after i set off and put the clutch in at a set of lights. on hot days, there would sometimes be very noticeable and violent misfires. 5) if you stall the bike at any time. sometimes when you restart it, it would not hold an idle unless you turn the ignition completely off and back on again. i have been caught in traffic because of this. (quite embarrassing). 6) when i took it in for servicing, i was told that the rear suspension had "collapsed" and needed replacing. (covered under warranty but bike was off the road for 2 months waiting for parts). 7) sprockets needed replacing after only 10,000kms. thats all i can think of at the moment, if you choose to by one of these, be sure to buy it new so its under warranty. i sold mine at but i made sure that every issue was address so the new owner would have not inherited any problems i had.

Hi. I've been riding a Hyosung GT650 R, 2008 model for the last couple of years and I highly recommend this bike. It's a sound, sturdy, reliable machine that has enough gumption to keep you entertained. It's a good looking bike and corners well. It's comfortable to ride, and vibration is not a big issue. I have not had any major issues and I have already racked up 29000 fun miles. The only issues I have had is the brake quality. Changing the brake pipes sorted this out a treat and its a simple job. If you look after this machine you won't have a problem. I was a bit weary to purchase a Hyosung at first as I had always run Japanese bikes but I don't regret a thing.

I just got an 05 model.And I like it.ive had the ninja 636.and a cbr 600rr. And a few other bikes.i can truthfully tell you this is becoming one of my favorites! ! Good purchase! !!!

For the money they are a very nice bike all round. Like anything, look after it and it will look after you!

I think the headlight is the most distinctive and striking feature of the gt650r. Personally I think it's one of the best looking bikes at middle range displacement. Much better looking than any of its Japanese counterparts I think

Hi mate, I have a Hyosung GTR, there is no reason for you to justify what your purchase to the world of haters. They are extremely reliable and not bad on parts, the Stock pipe are usually crap but you already fixed that. If anyone says anything about getting a Suzuki or Honda remind them that Hyosung form Korea have been making parts for Suzuki and Honda for 46 years and most of the parts they ride are made by Hyosung. I love em and id never swap for anything unless its was a BMW 1000rr or HP4, mayeb a 636 2012 /2013 at a push. Nice video, thanks for sharing she look lovely man

Looks great in black 👌 I used to own a gt125r, absolutely loved it, great commuter and a headturner, same frame size as this 650. Highly underrated bikes. I'd love one of these 650cc ones, sound amazing and great value for money Might pick one up in Aus as a commuter 😎

I bought the 2013 naked GT250 as my first bike a few months back and so far its great, but now i'm wishing i bought the 650 as I'm finding the lack of power frustrating. That said, its a great bike for commuting which I am using it for currently around Brisbane. Good on fuel around the city.

Love the new front, more agresive than the old.

One can't not love the V2 sound, the aftermaret pipe makes it even better! Have a great time on it!

I have an 05 GT250 the wife & I bought new in 07. It has right at 7000 Km. on it. Other than a brake pad that went bad, the bike has been trouble free. I'm a larger person (NOT fat, lol), so I'm now thinking about something bigger. My local dealer has let me play with a couple of his 650's and they ARE nice!

I bought one of these bikes about 3 months ago, And I love it, a lot of people give you grief over the brand but I just ignore and ride, can`t really fault the bike at all, if your thinking of getting one do it!

Hey bro, just bought the 2013 GT650RL. Picking up my beauty on Saturday. Can't wait! Mine is totally stock standard, LAMS and got it for $9995. Im upgrading from a Scorpio 225 and let me tell you, the testride I had on the 650 totally blew my socks off! My legs were jelly when I came back and knew then and there I had to have one. Enjoyed your review mate, just wondering now how you going on the 650 nowadays.

I recently got my bike license, bought a 2009 gt650R (converted to S because the previous owner dropped it at 20km/h). Mine has been de-restricted, do they restrict them in NZ? Im in Aus where we have LAMS. It had 5500km on it and humming away perfectly. The only issue is with the de-restriction and the aftermarket exhaust (which is the best one ive heard) as it backfires a lot. I mean it sounds amazing but I should probably see if the carbs needs tuning, Ive heard it might be something else though. Anyone have a gt65o that shoots flames like mine? I have a vid in my page

Hyosung used to make the Suzuki motor, but they no longer do and make their own slightly altered version of it. So depending on what year your Suzuki is, it could be Hyosung powered.

they somehow do not come up with the perfect design ...... they have gone back to a 90s style look for the 2017 issue ..... not too great , but fixed the blank round tank

hi im from nz and two days ago i saw one of these bikes and i was very impressed with what i saw, infact thats why im here cause i decided to look them up..cheers for the vid and have a total blast riding it.. that pipe sounds good id love to hear it under full noise!

I like the way the bike looks, the headlight reminds me a bit of the Ducati motorcycles which also look pretty good. The only thing about Hyosung in general i worry about is the engine... so far i've seen several for sale second hand and none of them passed 20.000 kilometers. It seems people wish to ditch it before it gets too high because they're unsure it'll last. Also noticed the 2 year warranty here in The Netherlands when (for example) Honda offers 3 years and 100.000 km.

I prefer it in the titanium red. Have to disagree with the headlight. I think it looks stunning and suits how they've re-faired the bike. Reminds me of the KTM RC8. The noise with the demon exhaust gives me goosebumps. So unique to other sport bikes. You could get a gixxer. But why when every other bike you see is a gixxer. Unique, head turning, and better looking than the gixxer or ninja.

These are a good starters bike or good for someone wanting to get back into riding again. I have had a few problems with the battery.one day the Speedo went from reading 2500km to reading 987653km. Went for a 350km ride, got home and then the battery was flat again. Jump started it and the Speedo went to 000000km. Went back to the bike shop and they were not sure what happened..end of the day you get what you pay for. Its a good looking bike, goes well and is nice to ride

Hey there Rob. I bought one of these a few months back am happy with it. The only thing I don't like is the limited turning circle, which is only really a problem at really slow speeds. Mine's the LAMS version (I'm in Australia). You may want to remove the pillion handles and foot pegs if you're not able to have a passenger and replace the shitty halogen headlight with a HID kit. Makes a hell of a difference. Anyway, ride safe man. :)

Hi Rob, Good colour choice....I am just a little confused seeing the start up system check....During a system check, yes the Tach does the cycle and the speedo does too but the Turn Signal light, FI light and High beam light on cluster does not light up, a system check for heavens sake is supposed to check the system to see if everything is working right which includes the indication lights as well..It does on any other sports bikes. Really puzzled, maybe lack of Hyosung's expertise !!

Test rode one of these today (I own a 250r) and it is definitely a nice bike, will most likely be getting one in December or Jan! Had such a stupid grin on my face!

I agree with the headlight, it's not the prettiest. But the naked version is beautiful!

hey man, they make this same pipe for a lot of different bike's they just change the way its bolted on. so you can buy this same pipe for a 250cc rite up to a 1000cc and its all the same pipe just the way is bolted on that is changed. at the end of the day its really the bike that sounds good the pipe just lets it happen.

It looks nice.Honda cbf 150, and I'm glad I'm driving.It is very economical.

lovely bike, i saw one of these the other day with a custom exhaust and it sounded amazing. i really like it and its deep sound reminiscent of a ducati. i myself own a honda cbr250rr which sounds like an f1, i have vids of it if your interested.

How many KM do you have on the bike now? And how's the reliability? Did you get the usual Hyosung electrical issues? Also how are the forks and rear shock? The rear shock failed on my bike with under 15k KM, but mine's a 2010 and obviously doesn't have the KYB suspension.

Change the wind screen, and megaphone exhaust, the vtwin will sound good

Hi Rob, The sound note from the exhaust is just about right :) can you tell me which exhaust you have used on your bike... Is it the black oval pipe meant for ninja 250R

Funny thing is my gt250r says mod 2013 but its older model It didn't came the new version here in Rio yet ! I have mine for 7mo

God, i love the new 2013 front fairing...it makes the bike more agressive...Does anyone know if this new fairing fits 2010 GTR125 model? :P

Hey mate. I'm from oz. Looking at a 13 model atm. Any probs with the bike after putting the pipe on ? Shop telling me the injection plays up after a pipes on it, stalling n rough idle. Have u had anything like this happen + any any other issues ? Test rode today n it wasn't a rocket but went not bad for a 650. Breaks were dodgy as compared to everything else I've ridden but I reckon braided lines would fix this problem easy. Enjoy the bike buddy

Peoe always talk shot about my gt650 becuae they have a generic rocket. But I still smoke the ahit out of them because I -know- how to drive my bike right. Having a fast bike doesn't mean ahit if you can use it right
