Great vehicle, but $35k - that's nuts.Does anyone else feel like car prices are getting out of control? Put 20% down on this vehicle ($7,100!!) and a 4 yr loan and your payments are a whopping $660 a month!!!!
It's funny.. I had my Santa Fe Sport 2.0T for 3rd year now and not a one, not a one thing broke or had issues. The quality is solid (better than Japanese or German competitors) feel. Our dealers in Kansas has been nothing but royalty service. No complaints here in the mid west. I changed to Stanta Fe Sport from Honda CR-V and after 3 years of Hyundai ownership, I would never go back to Honda again.
yah i yawn so damn hard at Hondas and toyotas today. Use to be what I gunned for when i was a teen in the 90s, then I just said to hell with them and havent bought another Honda in 6 years and that was an 01!!! haha Ive lost all faith in them and I think others have too, sales are slipping bad and it shows in their sales. Accords being outsold by Hyundai sonatas!! lol SOnatas got good looks, accords are boxes on wheels.
yup, already had to redesign the new civic after 1 year!!! ONE YEAR!!! lol Tell me Honda doesnt need to clean house and fire all of their designers and get back to what won them cars of the year in categories all through the 90s!
Wow! You guys are the first to review everything! I love it! Hyundai is getting way to expensive, same with kia. They are not at the level to charge $35,000 for a small suv. For that price you can get a loaded honda pilot, toyota venza etc and they hold their value and are more reliable!
Hyundai, the company has no control over their dealerships..This is what I was told..My Hyundai Santa Fe literally fell apart.I bought it brand new off the truck.Day three the transmission chip went. After that it was one thing after another.Seats fell apart.Paint blistered and chipped on the entire vehicle.Rear window seals fell out, carpet lifted and came apart at the seats,Odometer and speedometer all went out twice. The last time they wouldn't fix it.The gas tank had a problem with the float on the inside so I couldn't fill the gas tank up.And it took forever when putting the gas in it would trip the shut off valve at the pump.Shifting would skip and jolt at 65 too 70 enough has to scare you..Hyundai would do nothing.Oh wait they did when the plastic door handles separated in the back of the handle and it slit my fingers. Then they responded in fear of a medical law suit. I'll tell you if I read this and was considering a Hyundai anything a red flag would go up.You see One considers getting a Lemon when they buy any car..I did, however I had faith if it did happen Hyundai and consumer protection here in Florida would help me..Hyundai did nothing..The state of Florida did nothing..BEWARE OF HYUNDAI OF AMERICA.CUSTOMERS MEAN NOTHING TO THEM..
Bad MPG? That's where your wrong, Civic gets better real world fuel economy then the Elantra and the EPA is 39 highway anyway. MT is getting 26 MPG in the elantra and 25 in the Civic si! The quality of materials? The Civic's materials aren't good, I can say that because it is true but I own a 2012 CR-V and the quality of the interior is very good though everything is hard. I am objective, but I'm not going to join the Hyundai band wagon because they are stylish to most people like you.
The rear of the CR-V is similar in design but I do not think it is a direct copy of the XC60. I see it because I am objective and I am NOT a Honda FanBoy. I didn't call Honda's designs innovative, to me they look like Honda's nothing particularly interesting about them but they look handsome to my eye minus the 2012 Civic of course. I can admit that's not an impressive car on many levels but Honda will fix that for 2013.
Did you hear cell phone company’s are suing each other because they share the same keyboard out look ? Or body style I mean not only Samsung did follow that technology there is tons of company who did that .. But not all of them as good as the galaxy and that’s why I phone is freaking out .. By the way I like that SUV as is and folding mirrors is a good idea but the pedal shifter is stupid idea in all cars because they call that manual shifter ?!! really that’s manual ridicules !!
So because your mother said there was a quality difference, Honda is a joke? My dad had a 2012 Sonata as a rental and he hated it. Whats your point? Why is it an unfair comparison? Let me guess, the Elantra is sooo much better. Exterior style is the basis of all of this, I know it. The 2012 Civic is not a good car, we know that but that doesn't make Honda a joke.
I don’t think this case was about copying Tech from a company to another .. I think Samsung Galaxy did add and performance that is way better then apple I phone .. And that made apple wants to protect their territory in the market by doing all that mess !!
To all the h8ters out there.. if u think hyundai is a shitty car, look at toyota and honda when it first came out 20 years b4 hyundai They were shitty cars too! The next generation will view hyundai as the next honda or toyota
There is nothing innovative about this design IMO. It looks like an Audi Q5 and Honda CR-V made a child. I think Honda can make a good looking design while being conservative, at least Honda's old designs look good Today.
The Sante fe is going to be a good car but my budget for something like this is 30 grand and the the Hyundai will cost more than that. I already have a CR-V too so what would be the point.
Yo no se puede hablar Czech o Japones pero puedo hablar los gramatica y la pronunciacion solamente. Seria fantastico si podria hacer una gramatica oracion perfectamente. (I can not chat in Czech or Japanese, but I can only pronounce the grammars and special accents of the languages. It would be fantastic if I could make and say a sentence in those languages perfectly.)
I think the main reason is, we don't really like overnight changes. For example, we honor the people who make millions over the years with hard work, but we don't really feel proud of lottery winners, even if the win was not a big prize. Even in 2009, Hyundai wasn't something that someone would brag about. But the radical change is good for auto world, in terms of healthy competition. I personally just want to see vehicles that can reduce deaths in future.
If you have a problem and you will, believe me.I'm a Hyundai Santa Fe owner since 2003.You must know that the Hyundai Corporation is not held accountable for any mis-leading guarantees the dealerships give. You can contact Hyundai Corporation until your blue in the face about a serious issue like transmission problem or an issue about injury caused by faulty door handles and they will refer you to the same dealership that wouldn't honor their satisfaction guarantee in the first place.
I'm not that happy about the exterior design of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe i kinda like the exterior design of the 2007 model of it but of course we are not concentrated about the exterior design of it we are looking for the safety, comfortnes, and handling of it, though I am defiantly happy about transformation of the engine and interior design of it, i mean it is extremely comfortable looking in the eyes and so luxurious, well this has been a great and sexy looking car, grate job Hyundai. :)
for $35,000 you can buy a used 2008 bmw X5 with 30-50k miles but keep in mind it will be a very high maintenance vehicle as big or small repairs repairs will drain your bank account. for the price i would go with the brand new santa fe as the santa fe should be pretty much trouble free and last a long time, but if you want the look of a high roller go lease a bmw for 30k miles and get the free maintenance plan that they usually offer.
Dude, accept it, the Honda CR-V has bad MPG, compared with others, that old 2.4 Engine is not efficient. And about the Civic, man, it is still a 1.8 SOHC, what is that? If MOST people, like you said, find Hyundai cars stylish and appealing, there must be a good reason, dude... It is not possible that MOST people is wrong. And with "people" we dont only talk about buyers, but about reviewers and journalists as well. Anyway, you are Honda fan, you buy badge, we buy cars. Have a nice one, Peace!
I have never taken the Sonata for a spin, and by the sounds of it, I am not impressed with it. However, I LOVE the elantra, and probably will love the santa fe, as my mother wants to buy one for herself. But you're right, I was getting disrespectful. However, in the interior of the Honda Civic, the materials it displayed appeared to be cut from a bloody cookie cutter. Not the same with the Elantra.
And, FYI, I am not a Hyundai Fanboy, in case you want to use it as a come back. Actually in my family we buy Honda and Hyundai. We consider both car really good, but we cant ignore that Honda is dropping the ball in terms of design. Something well known by all reviewers on internet is the fact that Honda and Toyota are not doing the best in terms of design and innovations (besides the hybrid cars, with prices that still dont represent a real saving on the long run).
BTW, what is the innovation from Honda, if they are using the same old engine from the previous model, still have bad MPG compared with others in the segment, and they are using cheap feeling/quality materials (just look at the all hard plastic around interior in the new Civic, too bad for a car in that category). Dude, dont be a fanboy, be objective. The Santa Fe is really innovative, specially with that engine and the interiors. May be they didnt wanna go too fancy, to keep it affordable.
What are you talking about? Honda copied the rear end from the Volvo XC60 and put it in the new CR-V, anyone can note it!! Is that innovative? NO WAY!!! Just by looking at your Nick I can tell you are a Honda FanBoy, so I wont waste my time making a point for you. You can look at both, the Volvo and Honda, and you can see how Honda copied a lot from Volvo for the CR-V, but you wont see it or you might denied it, because you are Honda FanBoy. End of Story!
paddle shifters are not always about sportiness they are for ease of use and sfety as well, plus not everybody likes or can use manual transmissions. If youre a purist then go ahead and get that manual transmission no harm done, thing i'm trying to get at is that modern SUV's are about versatility, jack of all trades master of none sort of thing bescause not everyone can afford the small sporty car, the family hauler and the bad weather/off road veichle
Because they're stupid, ignorant fanboys. A true car person can appreciate a good car regardless of the brand. I drive an Acura, but I have respect for lots of other brands like Hyundai/Kia, Ford, GM, Lexus, Audi, Subaru, ect. because they all make some pretty great cars. Way to go Hyundai. This looks like another winner.
Samsung is Korean product. Everyone were laughing about this brand. Now they have more than 50% market share and all over. Think before you comment. This world is open any one beat and come up. All developed countries now they are in hell of their economy, where are all these intelligent people and what are they doing?
I like Ford Escape but it is obvious that they ran out of their design spirit and they copied Hyundai Tucson for their all new Escape. The rear of Honda Accord looks 99% alike Hyundai Genesis Sedan(before current design). The rear of Lexus GS looks very similar to Hyundai Sonata. From this I can really see that they step up and are being copied by others a lot.
WOW this car looks amazing, i was thinking of buying a dodge durango the new one but this looks very practical, stylish and sexy and highly gass effecient, y know what that means : more spending money on yourself instead of always going to car bill :D , movies, vacations, make life really count and make yourself happy.
Not true the new escape arrived redesigned before the santa fe, the redesign to the body only happened this year for 2013. The escape arrived redesigned April 4, 2012 and the santa fe arrived June 2012, so these were basically around at exactly the same time and being designed at close together intervals.
This is a mid-size SUV, not a small SUV. It is less than the Ford Edge when comparably equipped. Also, you need to do a lot of research because you have no clue as to what you are talking about. A loaded Pilot and Highlander are both over $41,000. There is nothing unreliable about the Santa Fe, and it holds it value very well.
What's wrong with the Koreans? well, GM hired a ton of Korean designers, as well as the engineers too. are you going to say GM is a copy too? GO AROUND THE WORLD and see the REAL WORLD EVERY ONE TAKES ANOTHER STEP based on what they have LEARNED if this is a copy, make your own clothes base on your own idea, design your own TOILET, etc. OMFG
To be honest, I didn't like the philosophy of Hyundai's design which is called "fluidic sculpture" because it didn't look simple but I think the design is slightly getting better. The only concern I have is that it seems like that Hyundai still need to find out a way to upgrade "fuel efficiency".
No. You did not listen. He praises the turbo engine several times, talks about how it's better than the base 2.4 liter and then complains about it being sluggish. Last time I checked, "sluggush" is not an appealing quality in an engine. So this guy clearly contradicted himself.
looking thru comment. they say rear of the car looks like Q7, MDX, RDX, MURANO, etc.. So I dun get if q7 copied murano, or murano copied mdx, or santa fe copied rdx. So my guess is, every car makers copy from each other a lil bit...
that probally explains it,because ive yet to see either a genuinely beautiful car built by the Japanese or Koreans, and even though japan in particulr has such a powerfull motor industry they still have failed to develop a genuine super car
What are you people here talking about?!? Other automakers copying Hyundai's styling, for the past 21 years Hyundai has been stealing designs! So if other automakers want to do it back, then let them Hyundai needs a taste of their own medicine!
I'm happy for you. What do you own?I know others who are happy too.I would have been happy also if Hyundai America would have acknowledged the lemon I bought and taken care of it.They chose to ignore the fact that lemons do come off the line..
I love the CX-5, but it doesn't directly compete with the Santa Fe Sport. This is a larger vehicle that competes with vehicles like the Ford Edge and other similar sized vehicles. CX-5 is competition for the CR-V, Tucson, Tiguan, etc.
Oh God honda sucks now. I don't know how they've been in the past years cause technically i don't give a fuck, but if they all gave me the same impression I got on any 2012 Honda, then Honda can throw itself in the trash. Hyundai is the new kid.
You are kidding, right? Please show me a BMW SUV with this equipment level for $35,000. You need to do some research. Also, Hyundai isn't have much of a problem moving the Genesis sedan which tops out close to $50,000.
Well, if you own a Honda, than you will think you are buying a leXus. Seriously. Try out the new hyundais. It easily beats the competition. The only thing the others have against it literally is reputation.
People just think about the 84 pony, they shoud check out some of the new Hyundai's they are moving up the ladder quick geting close to Honda and Toyota.Ford and GM wil soon be in the dust.
my Honda friend, my advice is to not get too attached to a company. because one day, they will have had their prime, and then they will recede back to being a normal company that is nothing special.
The color is Cabo Bronze, it's beautiful and changes color based on light. Also the reviewer is totally wrong as the 2.0 turbo has plenty of power, you can not compare it to a V-8.
But Hyndai was making that kind of design way before Ford started imitating Hyundai designs.... look at the previous Escapes... boxy craps, the NEw excape looks like a Kia or a Tucson.
Keep in mind that Nissan is no longer Japanese only. Many of their cars has Korean and French technology from Renault-Samsung Motors. Remember Nissan belongs to Renault Motors Group.
At 3:20 he says it was sluggish uphills, but he was happy about its power he didn't contradict himself you just didn't listen, its only sluggish though due to the turbo lag.
why does it matter what colour skin a man has,,,,,,,,that's a bit off. He makes an informative video about a good car......that is all that should matter surely?
Why does he say the 2.0 turbo engine is good for going up inclines and then he says it disappointed him? Did he contradict himself or am I missing something?
I am not sure why one would need paddle shifters on a SUV. To me, that's like wanting them on a mini-van. If you want fun and sporty, get a small car with a MT.
