@@notpoggamer when I was at school in the early 00s there was a mtg club and I went every week and built up a huge collection of cards and when I left school in 04 I put it on my shelf and haven’t looked at it for 17 years. This just came in my recommended I’m going to get my collection out now and see what I have lol
I know im randomly asking but does someone know a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
damn this actually make me nostalgia... I remember when cryptic command was so good, and next thing I know, pp are playing four force of negation now...
So, having the advantage through the whole tournament and losing makes you the champ? Awesome logic there. With a massive 95-5 advantage in the final he lost. You all have odd notions of what a champ is.
Shahar played extremely smart. And it isn't that Reid's deck shat on him, it is a deck that is prone to having awful hands like that every few games. It happened twice to him in the top four. Game three and four Shahar strictly outplayed him. If you want to call luck then I would counter that game one and two that Reid got extremely lucky draws and Shahar's deck shat on him. Reid is awesome though, that was an awesome match to watch on both sides.
You mean how he misplayed on that clique by targeting Reid and lucking into back to back burn draws? Terrible choices, pure luck. Better lucky than good.
That was awesome. From losing on a 2-0 to winning on the 5th game for the world championship finals, it's about as drawn out and epic as you can get =D
The life total for Reid was actually at 8 at the end because when he played the ethereal armor he had to pay a life to use horizon canopy, the life totals just hadn't been changed yet on the screen.
Throughout the years I’ve held Shahar Shenhar as a hidden gem in the game. Shahar was so good for his age and every game he was in he played so well. He was in my opinion a prodigy in the game.
It's a win hard or lose hard deck. It was a really smart metagame pick for Reid. Sharhar did a really good job of side-boarding, and with a little bit of luck was able to outrace him at times. Pretty impressive for a control player.
Reid playing green is always my favourite thing to watch, so despite him losing, I keep coming back to this match. The triple mulligan was especially hard to watch though.
Everybody probably already does this, but even if you're not side boarding you add your whole side board to your deck, and remove 15 cards. If your are sideboarding, Your opponent won't know how many cards you put in. If your aren't sideboarding, they still think about you playing a deck with 15 different cards in it.
@Desert spirit MC I believe he's talking about the creation of planeswalkers, but that's a pretty boomer way to look at it, it didn't ruin anything, just changed the game a lot, which some people don't like
I think things are getting back on track, though. They really seem to be pulling way back on the power creep lately. Look at the spoilers so far for the upcoming sets (Zendikar rising, commander legends). The cards look unique and powerful, but not dramatically game-changing which is what we want, no?
I'm sure that your perusing of youtube has scored you tons of points with the ladies. These guys have been lining their pockets with an activity they love, can you say the same?
As a matter of fact, I do get paid to do what I love. Also, I didn't realize that someone making a comment on youtube somehow disqualifies them from ever being able to get girls... Do you live in a world where if you do something, that's the only thing you are ever allowed to do again? Additionally, if there is one thing that is a girl deterrent, it is the lack of a sense of humor - something you clearly posses in abundance...
Uberkitty55 Pretty sure someone did he said this: "Reid Duke sounds like penguinz0 One of the announcers sounds like Badger from Breaking Bad" the BADGER is the part i heard so someone got me here.
I just recently started playing magic.. these commentate videos/streams are impossible for me to understand what's going on. I understand that I should increase my knowledge on the cards.. but can't the shout casters explain what's going on a bit more?
A person who just learnt how to play Chess isn't going to learn a damn thing about playing Chess by watching Nigel Short vs Garry Kasparov. The same applies to Magic. The Pro Tour is not the place to learn about the game. If you want to watch people who are better than you at playing Magic - which is a great way to learn how to play the game - I'd recommend you find someone who streams Magic Online and plays a lot of Limited i.e. drafting, because then they'll almost exclusively be playing with cards from the most recent expansion pack. LoadingReadyRun would be my personal recommendation.
Don't feel bad, I've been playing for a couple months now, and this is the third time I've watched this match and the first time I actually understand what is going on.
Stefan Witkowski-Baker All I ask is that they give a short description of what the cards do.. it would take seconds and give a much more interactive experience to the game. This game focuses a lot on the fine details of the text on the cards.. If I don't even know what the card is called, how am I supposed to know what it does? But I do understand where you're coming from. I'll check out some other videos.
Will T Sorry but the Pro Tour isn't going to tell people what each individual card does. It's about the best playing the best, not about teaching the basics of the game. I'm by no means an expert, but trust me, the pro tour is now where to learn the ropes.
Michael Sousa I've been playing for 4 years and all of this was an awesome match. Here's an explanation for you if you are starting. Imagine a deck full of Cancels and burn vs a deck full of creatures that you cannot target but is heavily aggressive. Turns out that makes a good game.
+psychofreak949 buuuuut in yugioh its almost impossible to not have any monsters, but in magic you can have a deck like ivan floch with no creatures (pro tour m15)
Les Malades I have never even heard about this game..I was watching videos of magicians doing card tricks..and I end up watching competitive nerdness LOL it was a biit of a shock..
Bumbleness Supreme Brady I admit I am only a wanna be nerd..Ive always wanted to be one, but..I simply have too great hair to be able to be accepted among nerds..thank gawd I am abnormally handsome, or I would have been without a chance in life! lulz
I thought about getting into this type of tournie magic but the money it would take every year to stay competitive is just too much for my blood. I mean think about it they probably spend thousands and thousands on cards every year.
Between buying all the cards to forge multiple high competitive decks and paying entry fees and attending Limited format events, I don't suspect they spend more than 3-7k a year in the format they're playing after figuring in card costs, entry fees, and other things needed to be paid for to play. It'd be worse if Legacy was the competitive format. I'd figure that'd tack on another 2-4k on card costs to get everything you need for a format that's so deep.
there aren't many new cards joining the competitive modern decks through new editions, since the cardpool is so large already. There are 3-10 relevant cards per edition and that's it. As long as you don't play standard, the price per year to get the new cards is really low.
A lot of these guys work for major card retailers or are associated with them, so many just simply borrow cards to use in major tournaments or for testing.
Whats the prize money for Pokemon? Im just asking since i dont know... And it might answer your question. Also, this game is way more intense in general. I know since I play both.
What lands does Shahar have at the end of the first game? I cant tell but it looks like he has 2 red sources and a blue, so at the end of Dukes turn couldnt he have played a lightning bolt, done 3 damage, played a snapcaster, flashed the lightning bolt back, and then had 2 snapcasters to swing with on his turn for 10 damage?
It's essentially considered to be blocked by a 0/0, meaning that if the creature has trample, all of it's damage tramples over to the defending player.
I was rooting for Reid Duke! I've played with Shahar (who lives in the US by the way) and he has very poor sportsmanship. It's a bummer to see the nice guy take 2nd place but sometimes the bad guy wins. Shahar played well.
Dude theses guys are so silent wtf? And Reid flips his cards and shuffles his hand to much its so annoying. And they move to quickly it doesnt even seem like they enjoy the game
Complete waste of time sorry. MTG is a great game but when taken to this level it becomes annoying. If you have the time and energy for this stuff rock on but if your like me I'll stick to collecting and playing against friends and foes.
It helps players see different lines of play by having cards next to different cards versus just looking at your hand in any particular order. Alternatively it could just be A) Something to do while your opponent makes their move, or B) Nervous reaction.
Very fun match to watch between 2 different style of decks. Duke played perfect, but his deck is easier to pilot, 13 creatures including the non hexproof spiritdancers and forest creature seems a bit low, I would like to see couple of silhana ledgewalkers, I was also surprised he sideboarded rest in peace with 4 rancors, and that he didn't decked at least 1 leyline after game 1 against ajani, the burn and cryptic. Shahar was more nervous, There were couple of occosions when I didn't understand
Yes. Most competitive Magic matches are best two out of three, but finals of major tournaments like Worlds and Pro Tours are typically best three out of five.
What do they mean by "standard" and "modern"? This is probably a really stupid question, but I have just started playing and only come across one set of rules.
rules are the same, it's just about what cards are legal, Modern plays with everything since like 10th edition I believe (I dont play modern so the specific set could be wrong) and standard only plays with the most recent cards, generally 2 blocks at a time I believe but not positive on that since I think 3 are legal rn...anyway that's the difference in standard modern
