This in 2022 reminds me of back in the day when cars were iconic & the American thing to do... Sadly now adays all we have on the market is junk & cars are not what they use to be, I wish to see more commercials/short films like this, brings back memories of how cool cars use to be. I'm forever a trans am fan & wished I could own one of these modernized trans ams.. I have a 99 TA & I love it!!!
Pontiac and Oldsmobile GM isn't the same not to mention Hummer Saab vexhall Opel and Holden at one time GM had 11 divisions of the company now only 4 Cadillac Chevrolet Buick and GMC
I may not have been old enough to understand this at the time....but my dad use to down 3 tranzams. I would agree, they did make nice cars. I wish I had the opportunity to drive one of them but again sadly...I was too young at the time.
I know everyone's just saying it's a camaro with a body kit. But in reality the firebird and camaro were the same car but just rebadged. If we still had Pontiac today this is most likely what it would be/look like. I'd actually prefer this over the camaro.
So cheesy but it also depicts the essence of the T/A really well. As someone reviewed on youtube, this machine is a dream party with serial killers, naked girls and all the wild people and things you could come up with. It's a.... BEAST!!
id take it. not because its just a modied camaro, but for people to try and remember the days of pontiac, goddammit GM....Would have been a perfect time to for the ta and GTO to return to....
Scroll through the thread. You'd be surprised. I heard a guy at the Trans Am Nationals say he'd never drive one as it's a rebadged Camaro. Yeah....that's what Trans Ams are! But the mind boggles. I hear it a lot.
This company has the licence to sell it as a Trans Am. Id imagine your ownership will still say Camaro... But as a diehard fan and owner of a 1992 Trans Am, this gives me tears of joy every time I watch it... :) Well done.
I've NEVER seen this commercial before, Goldangit!!!!!😂 GODDAMNIT, WE ALL miss the T/A (Trans/Am)!!!!😭 The Black 1 should've had Ashley "Flashed-Back" to "S.A.T.B. (Smokey And The Bandit)" Just like "Ol Buford T. Justice said in the 1st movie, "OOF, it's the Bandit!!!!"
When it comes to driving my brand new Trans Am, I have no friends? I can give my lady friends a ride, no problem, but your going to have to remove your shoes, your shorts, and your shirt. No food, drinks or smoking. If your good up to this point, I will let you shift my hurst.
I love Mustangs too, but other muscle cars are to appreciate as well :P No matter what muscle car I see rolling down the streets, they're always a head turner. Especially Mustangs.
GM should have got rid of Buick and kept Pontiac. The last good looking and good performing Buick was the Grand National. The new Buicks are just nondescript and lame. Do they sell more Buicks than they did Pontiacs? I doubt it.
When do you remember government thinking? Buick needed to be shut down a long time ago. The solstice, GTO, G8, Trans Am. All the best American performance automobiles for the everyday man.
For all the fucking idiots saying its a Camaro, no shit its a camaro. Obviously Pontiac stopped production a long time ago. Is it really necessary stating the obvious over and over?
Camaros/FireBirds have always been horrendous trailer park Ferraris up until the current Gen but watching this really makes me miss Pontiac. As the guy below said, what the *hell* were they thinking getting rid of Pontiac?!
My older brother had a 78 blue fire bird,at that time I was 2 years old,I still remember that car,I would love to have one of them 2013 or 2015 please rebuild them.
to respond to metcalfdouglas and the others, the frame is of a camaro but the boys here at transamdepot stripe everything off these frames and use trans am parts, from the panels, wiring, drivetrain, trans, suspension and interior, there is no slight modification that goes in to these creations that people suddenly think, watch there other videos that pertain to the making of these and youll understand what passion goes in to these.
Bah look at that car in the commercial, it's just a camaro with a different nose, an out of place scoop and trans am features. can't even take the time to design a brand new TA, they just rehash an existing model to do it
DiamondJake01 What do you think the original Trans Am was? "it's just a camaro with a different nose, an out of place scoop and trans am features" They were built on the same assembly line (in Montreal) and the only difference was the nose, the tail, and the trim. Same body shell, same suspension, same engines. No, wait - you really think that Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, and Chevies were actually DIFFERENT CARS? They have been sharing platforms since, well, the 1930's, and engines since the 1970's. By the 1980's, they were just 'badge engineered" with little more than headlamp, grill, and taillight treatments distinguishing the brands. No one was fooled. Well, I guess you were.
***** At least they put effort to create a visual and mechanical difference between the 2 cars back in the day. This one is just a camaro plastered with T/A tags and a botched nose imo.
DiamondJake01 Really? You are kidding me, right? For most of the production run of the F body, there was little difference between the cars - well, not to a trained eye. Maybe as an Engineer, I see the similarities that the plebes don't. If GM made a Firebird today, well, this video pretty much shows what it would have looked like.... Mechanical differences? You really are kidding me, right?
This is correct. Poncho V8's were phased out during the second generation, by third gen all drivetrains (save a few very rare options) were identical chevrolet units.
+KP did I say the women should be covered completely. I think the TA is girls car. Same with Camaro. that's all. Nothing wrong with thinking it's girls car
+Silverado4x4 , and your mother ruined the human race by not swallowing and your father ruined the human race by not pulling out sooner, so what was the point that you were trying to make OTHER than the one that is on top of your head again?
+Pax Humana 1st off I was joking but this stupid video tried to basically use sex to get guys to watch them driving in a Camaro that they changed parts around to make it Firebird. if they were trying to be fair they would have showed some men drivi ng one to. Anyways I wouldn't buy one cause they are not even real. Pontiac went out of business in late 90's and this firebird is built way after. I'm sure it's slow cause I had a 2SS Camaro in 2010 it was slow as shit. If you want a Sportscar at least buy Stingray. I guarantee my stingray would blow this chicken car out of water. hey its ok chicken also had the Mazda Miatta and WW Bug and few other cars. if your upset by that comment then go put you new tampon in I like your is leaking.
Silverado4x4, Actually, Pontiac went out of business in 2010 alongside Saturn, Hummer, and Saab. Second, given the engines in the Camaro, let alone the CTS-V at the time, and they are damn near the same engine. This is even more true now with the newest generations of those vehicles. Finally, why don't you buy a fucking clue or, better yet, do the world a HUGE favor and go play in traffic sans a vehicle for yourself, okay? Also, thank you for telling me about you being on a period, but that is TMI. Thank you.
Oh I misread your message. Ford will out due them the gt500 of course..well 2015 will be the cobra. That will destroy anything gm has or will have for awhile
ever since they first started the Camaro and Firebird have always looked very similar to each other. If GM was still making Firebirds, they probably wouldn't too much different than that today.
Sean Haley Firebirds and Camaros were essentially rebadged versions of each others with a few minor tweaks, akin to how Chevy Silverado is the same as GMC Sierra in virtually every way.
Pontiac hasn't had their owns engines since the late eighties. Since then, they have been powered by Chevy or Buick. One of the fastest Trans Am's built was powered by Buick GN turbo V6. I do I agree with you that Pontiac should still be around.
Went to the shop and met these guys, they are fantastic, way better than any dealership has ever treated me. To anyone saying its a "body kit" must have their head up their ass.
Doesn't look any more like a Camaro than the old ones did. They are, after all, sister cars. They did a fine job putting these cars together. Besides, since you say they should "try harder", what, exactly, would you suggest they do differently?
Wow. It really does remind me of the 79 my father had when I was young. Even the fender where the heat would come out from the engine bay. I still remeber the crackling sound after he turned the car off from it while cooling off.
That's what I'm afraid of if Firebird ever came back. The spoiled HS girls in my town latched onto the new Mustang (and I really like the 2005 body, too, and then the new Knight Rider came along!) and the college bros loves them some new Camaros. I like having a car that stands out a little. If your at any stop light in my town you can find at least 2 identical Mustangs or Camaros stacked up.
Way too many comments saying, "yea, but it's just a Camaro, yada yada yada". No, it's not! It used to be a Camaro. Back in the day, GM used the same platform to make different cars, like Camaro and Trans Am, but after they rolled off the assembly line, they were indeed different cars. The analogy is no different here, but the cars are.
Is this a TRUE car? the trans am has been my dreem car since i was 3 years old when i got my first car toy... i'm so gonna save for one of those!! even if it takes me my whole life!
If only they could put cars like this into production. I normally don't like the looks of new cars but this looks sweet. Just better not be fiber-glass. We need pontiac back.
Just ONE More thing.. Drove a '78 T/A to the Prom in 78. On Monday I was the talk of the school. Beautiful date, and a Soul Train Afro. Life was good..@1:32 Who's that lady.. Ohh yeah..Isley's..
thats business. for those who can afford the new price, demand will go through the roof. at least from an economics stand point. but I totally agree with you also
They show it at 1:50 and of course its a camaro with a body kit, that's what the originals were, and even if they were to build a new trans am from the scratch, there is not enough demand to cover the costs of that
Thats correct but since the downfall of Pontiac in 11-1-10 , the OEM production of the Firebird died along with it (2002 was actually the last production of the Firebird). However there are after market company's like ztafirebird (Google it) that produce "Body Kits" that resemble the TA/Firebird if it were in fact running on the production line. I'm glad to see somebody picking up were GM has left off. Pontiac made damn good cars for 84 years and is truly sad to see them go.
I haven't looked into it but I recall hearing a few years ago that buicks are quite popular in china. I still wish we had buick, olds, plymouth, and studebaker.
