I too have been considering a CanAm due to my age. Wow the complexity of routine maintenance is astounding.(Pulling the mirror off to change the oil😫) I was really concerned about the body panel screw falling down the oil fill hole @ 22:00 with the cap off. Thanks for the vid, this was very educational.

Hey man, I don't know if you make any more videos or look at your older ones, or even own your can am Spyder anymore. I've watched and used your videos for years now and just wanted to say thanks again. I still pull your video's up for refreshers when I'm changing oil or what ever on my 2015 can am Spyder rts. So, a big thanks to you and hope your doing great.

Wow! I just changed my mind about buying a CanAm!!! Looks like a total pain in the butt changing oil and filter!!! On my two motorcycle baggers, I can get oil drain plugs and filters off in about 8 minutes!!! Unfortunately I'm 77 next month with a recent knee replacement and balance problems. I need a trike dang it. LOL

This is my question. I changed the oil and the two filters using the OEM oil to a 2011 Can am Rt, and after bringing the oil field, Every time I turn it on it sounds like it is discharging which I did not do before and I noticed that in oil tank is bubbling. Is that normal because of the oil change.

You mention how you love the magic mirrors. Do you ever worry about cleaning metal dust/debris off the magnets? Could you say more about the oil change kit? And where you buy it?

Hi Sir, I was wondering have you replace the waterpump on your 2014 can am spyder? I have a 2015 Can am spyder rt limited and I've been trying to find a video that may show how to replace it. I really like your video's and how you show each step with explaining it as well, Thanks.

Does the transmission have a different hole for oil. Or is the oil the same hole as the engine nobody says nothing about it.

Not a good idea to use any lubricant in panel pop outs. (Rubber grommets) Makes them easy to slip on BUT also makes them easy to pop out on the road.
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 3 года назад
I would generally agree, but silicone spray is pretty low on the “lubrication” scale and that side was really hard to get off. I have put on almost 30,000 miles, mostly in Nebraska, North & South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. If I was going to loose one of these because of this, it would have happened with the winds we have here. Thanks for watching and bringing this up. I definitely would not use any other lube on these. Have a great day

How many miles on the rig? Then and now. Curious how long these last and at what cost. Cheers
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 4 года назад
It had 4,400 miles on it when I bought it used June 30 2018. I put 7,500 miles on it that year. This year (2019) I put just over 11,000 miles on it. It is at 23,000 now. Besides my DESS issue (problem with the module that reads the chipped key) which never actually left me stranded, I have had no problems. The cost of ownership depends a lot on whether you can perform your own maintenance and upgrades.

Wow! What a great video. In my younger days I rode a Honda Goldwing, but sold it as I got older and found it a bit more difficult to hold up 800+ lbs. at a stop light, especially with the Mrs. on the back seat. Miss riding and have begun to consider a Can Am as a way to get back on the road. I always did my own servicing, so your video was fantastic, showing the step by step process. What are "magic mirrors" are the powered? Do they replace the mirrors that come on the Can Am? In general, has the Can Am been a good machine for you? Thanks for posting; much appreciated.
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 3 года назад
Thanks for the compliment. The “magic mirrors” are just really strong magnets that replace the fragile mirror clips that hold the mirrors to the bike. Since you have to remove the mirrors to take any body panels off, it makes the job simple and stress free. I have put over 30,000 on this bike and it has not let me down yet. I think they are very reliable. Thanks for watching

@@ItsYoursOWNIT You are most welcome; again, really enjoyed the video. Thanks for the information. Trying to sign up for certification classes right now. I did have a few more questions: do I understand correctly that the crank case of the engine and the transmission share the same oil supplY? In other words, it's not same situation as an automobile where there is transmission fluid, and then a separate oil supply, correct? How often is this service required and how much cost is the service kit? Thank you.
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 3 года назад
You are correct, they share the oil. There are two drain plugs, one on the engine side and one on the transmission side. These are just the two low points to drain the oil.
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 3 года назад
The service interval is every 9,000 miles or once a year for the oil change. The service kit is around $100 from the dealer or Amazon.

how much oil do you use and where do you add transmission oil at and how much
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 4 года назад
DENNIS OWENS, Your owners manual shows the amount of oil. It is a little over 5 qts. There is no transmission oil as it uses the engine oil for everything. The two drains (engine and transmission side) are simply the two low points to get all of the oil out.

Ok hate to bug you again did you get your air filter from BajaRons? It looks like you removed the K&N filter and installed a paper filter? Looking to upgrading to magic mirrors and backrest. Saw you did a video on replacing your back tire and ran a oversize tire on the front set. So my question is what make and size tires are you running fronts and back? I just got this 2014 RT Limited the end of last year moved up from my 1990 Goldwing. Thanks again for the information!

@@ItsYoursOWNIT do you mount the tires yourself? was told a dealer won't change them because they aren't stock tires.
@ItsYoursOWNIT
@ItsYoursOWNIT 3 года назад
@@JohnBraman413 I had a Can Am dealer mount and balance the first car tire I mounted on the rear (Kumho). They started preaching at me about how BRP didn’t recommend putting car tires on and I cut him off and told him I was aware of their “stance” on doing this and I didn’t come to get preached to. If they wouldn’t do it I would find someone who would. They did it. I have now been just having my local tire shop mount them. They can mount and balance the front tires. The rear they can mount, but it won’t go on their balance machine so I have them put the glass balance beads in. No trouble so far.
