+DeviantCanuck Ohh I hope so. Dealer says 8-10... but who knows. I'm in no real hurry though, and I wanted exactly what I wanted. No more, no less. We did a dealer search, and nobody even had a Laramie stick shift on the Lot in Alberta, let alone the sport appearance package with air suspension.
thank you, no problems, very rarely slips a bit if you punch it to the floor sometimes, and no its still has the stock clutch. Will move to a valair triple disk sometime in the future.
Awesome truck man, I've never seen a cummins with a 6 speed and leather seats. They're almost all stripper models. Was it custom ordered? What trim package is it? (Tradesman, SLT, longhorn?)
Truck sounds amazing! Quick question, what kinda MPG are you getting after all the deletes. 65mph 75mph. I am gonna trade in my current truck for a 15 cummins and not sure about a sick or auto....thanks in advance!!
250slurpee Yes sir, no problems at all. Just got used to my dads 06 5.9 where 1st was labeled L so I always use second. That an 1st gear is extremely short.
that's awesome, I'm 17 work on my cousins ranch he's got an 04 cummins dually and Ive driven it and I love it, I'm actually in the process of buying a used 98 12v Cummins of my own to use on his ranch during summers and your rig is deffinately badass
i didn't read all the comments so if i missed this i apologize. what brand of tuner did you go with and why? did you bump up in power or run stock? any issues so far? i have a 15 with approx 15k miles on it and i want to delete but not really wanting to lose the factory warranty. i know they have to prove it was the delete to void the warranty but either way it is a hassle. thanks.
+2009reezen The tuning is EFI Live and its one of the only choices out at the moment that allows you to delete the trucks, also it allows an insane level of customization. I did not tune the truck myself i have someone else do it. The truck is currently tuned to +90 hp over stock with no issues and better mileage. And as for the warranty thing my understanding is that most warranty issues are caused by the egr and dpf systems. But ultimately its up to you, also i believe bully dog has tunes for the new dodges now to but they are "can" tunes so there isn't alot of customization, again this is my understanding i may be wrong.
I drive my to and from work and everywhere around town and love it, but my opinion may be a little bias, my only complain would be the leather seats can get uncomfortable on long rides, they are kinda stiff.
You're welcome and not at all, the clutch on mine is starting to slip a bit under heavy acceleration but thats due to the tuning on it. If you leave it stock it will be fine. I'm thinking of buying a triple disc for my truck soon.
you guys are a cool couple haha . jokes and some cursing is all true love ! but hey brother beautiful truck ! i currently own a 2008 fully built 6.4 powerstroke . which is now really a 6.6 full internals f350 fully loaded lariat . anyways , im looking into buying a new dodge like you have in this video . i like the setup and the interior . any thoughts ? or probelms youve encounrterd? hows it shift ? how do u like the truck overall ? thnaks bro
+Kevin Dolder Sounds like you already own a nice truck. But personally i love the truck i think the interior is the sharpest looking of the newer diesel and i haven't had any problems so far, shifting is very smooth (still has the factory clutch) and overall i like the look and feel very much. I am also a dodge guy at heart so i might overlook some things that others would find annoying? I would recommend taking one for a test drive if possible although a 6 speed stick might be harder to find.
+ShortyzProductionz Yes, generally dealers might have a couple SLT duallys with a stick in them, but if you want a fully loaded megacab you'll have to factory order.
Have you had any issues with it since deleting? I'm considering efi live for a 2012 that I own but don't wanna jump in just yet. I live in Ontario and emissions hasn't been that big of a deal, they only patrol 1 month of the year. I can get it to pass an e test with it deleted, it's just those patrol cars that are annoying. I have an 03 as well but the list of stuff I want to do to it just keeps increasing. Have you had any head gasket problems? I don't want to get into changing turbos and really messing with it if I do get caught for emissions. I May be better off working on the 03 as it has no emissions from factory.
+BiOhArArDvsElement Only problem i've had with my truck is my jaw getting sore from smiling to much. But in all honesty no, truck is completely fine and if you're one of those guys worried about head gaskets just have some head-studs installed.
+DeviantCanuck Thanks, I'll probably do something in the spring when its not so cold out :) I noticed you have a black truck as well, I love having a black truck but hate keeping it clean lol. Nice truck tho.
oh wow, the same thing happened to me. I was looking for over a year for a good buy on one, just happened to be the last 12 on the lot and it was black. Sure beats paying top dollar for it lol.
Amanda Levasseur no! Dodge doesn't allow that from the factory, even though they will do it for the Dodge Viper. So I do and will think that it will be possible.
How much did the I6 Cummins add to your total cost? I'm looking for a new vehicle when I get out of high school when I get a decent job. I would keep diving my 87 Chevy around but my mother insists I get a newer vehicle. I've been looking on the Ram's build and price for a slt 2500 but when you get the manual with the I6 that changes the truck from a $500 month payment to a $650 month. I was just wondering if u think that there will be better deals out there? I would would guess there be a better chance that there will be a slt manual on a lot say to a Laramie therefore I wouldn't have to special order.
Honestly you can try what i did, i bought this truck slightly used 10,000km and got it for 55,000 canadian (about 25,000 less than brand new) so if you can find a used one like that you can always go that way?
+DeviantCanuck Never really thought about that I had big plans about buying new one but there are some nice slightly used ones, I guess all I have to do is look for a deal. Thanks for all the help!
+brendan grigsby Yes, and an EFI Live tune, shit loads more power and better mileage. This is how they should ship them from factory, but those god damn hippies keep making stupid laws.
+DeviantCanuck Yep, im thinking of buying one of those trucks and i am trying to find out as much as i can, what is the mileage difference if i may ask?
+DeviantCanuck I have a 5.9 and my old truck was the 6.7. I swapped it because they were handing out big fines for the dpf deleted and stuff up in Ontario. 5 and 7k bucks I heard. I miss my 6.7 it ran way better and burnt less fuel.
+chrisdsltech Thank you. At the time of this video it was all stock, I now have a 2.5 inch level in the front that made room for 35's and some visual upgrades. And my MPG is about 18 in town and 25 on the highway, some guys get better some guys get worse.
+DeviantCanuck hell yeah. cant go wrong with a 6 speed. folks complain about shifting gears but least you dont have worry bout paying over 4 grand for a new tranny.
I enjoy shifting gears, anywhere and everywhere. Only time I admit an automatic would be beneficial would be during rush hours if you ever get caught in them.
+alex Perez Yes sir, this is a 2014 and they still offer it in the 2016 models. I imagine since its already on the trucks production line they won't remove it cause it probably costs little to nothing to maintain and it does manage to net them extra sales every year im sure. Only downside is they don't improve on the g56 transmission which is fine because there are plenty of clutch upgrades out there.
I explained what a delete is in the other video you commented on, but basically its removing the EGR and DPF systems from the truck and then I decided to add a straight pipe all the way from the turbo to the exit.
You should not slow the truck down by using the transmission and rear differential. Those 2 things are for accelerating. Unless you want to take it to the shop sooner than later
It's called engine compression braking and doesn't harm the drive train whatsoever. In fact, manual transmissions are designed for this. Since this is a diesel, you can also use the diesel exhaust brake (if equipped), without doing any damage to the drive train. No extra trips to the shop required.
One problem from dodge is that they made the manual transmission with decreased torque and hp compared to its automatic transmission. I don't know why but they should have kept the manual n automatic with same torque and hp..... The automatic does 800 ft pound of torque and 370 hp while the manual gives 670 ft pound of torque and 350 hp.... Thats a huge ass different in power. I love the manual transmission but dodge should adjust the manual and make it similar to the automatic.
It cost about 2500 dollars total but i also removed the DPF and EGR system from the truck and straight piped it, but if you look at it the option to go from a 6 speed manual to the aisin automatic its 11,000 dollars
+DeviantCanuck did u have to buy a new clutch and upgrades on the trans since u tuned your truck with the manual trans for extra horse power and torque?
I think the distance is fine, and haven't ever heard of anyone complaining. You could always go to the dealer and sit in one and see, like i've said in previous posts most dealers don't stock a laramie 6 speed but often times they will have a slt dually standard sitting in the lot which will give you the same idea.
Stephen Babcock Yeah but if the truck is already 50 - 60 grand I don't wanna have to spend any more money to make the truck perform equally to the same exact truck with an automatic in it. You also don't want the engine outperforming the transmission.
John Doe Yeah Whenever I get my dodge 5500, I'm gunna put an Eaton 6 speed manual in it with the 700 hp kit. I like these new dodges because they come with an exhaust brake stock. I want one with a quad cab long box. With that, I'll have an half cab put on the back of my quad cab making it a quad extended cab. Therefore I'll have three rows of seating, so that's seating for 8. The extension to the cab with be set up with the half doors of course with a cross member for strength. Then I'll extend the frame and all that loveliness to accommodate a firefighting apparatus system with a grated deck right behind the cab along with a headache rank so a firefighter can stand behind the cab to spray down a brush fire or somethin. On top of that, I'll put on remote controlled water cannon on the front. And don't forget an 8" lift. That's one of my plans.
John Doe Somewhere between 1000-2000 ft lbs of torque depending on which kit I wanna get, probably a dyno kit and depending on what I'll have the truck tuned to.
In larger transmissions found in 4x4s and trucks that is a much much smaller issue than most cars, the selector forks have to travel a lot further and they are way tighter so unless you're putting a lot of pressure on it it will create negligible wear. Not quite the same as a smaller car transmission.
Is this truck just to make you feel big and pretty? Or do you use it as a work truck, and actually use the diesel for what it was made for? If not people like you are what make these damn trucks so expensive.
An envious and unsubstantiated negative remark, Tyler. Nothing at all wrong with the man's video -- and proof of this fact exhibited in the relatively high view count and likes. Tyler shouldn't be blamed for the steep prices for these great trucks.
And...? What is your point? What is funny about that? "haha this mans vertical length may be a shorter compared to mine". Like what? I've honestly never actually understood why people make fun of others because of frivolous societal traits that really don't mean anything.
