I've been a Ford guy forever, but the new Sierra may have just changed that. Loving the redesign, exterior looks awesome, especially the new all terrain package. Same goes for the interior. I would say that If the 6.2 ecotec3 can pull off MPG numbers close to the 5.3 ecotec (putting it right there with Ford's Ecoboost MPG wise, with much more power) there is no question I'll be a GM convert...
one thing he dosent mention about this truck is that in order to hit those mpg numbers GM is using 3.08 rear axle ratios again. a 3.42 is optional unless picking a higher trim level and you get a 3.73 with the 6.2 trailering package. id rather have the 3.73 ratio with the 4.3 or 5.3 engine instead of the 3.42 myself, so if you are looking to tow something heavy or haul a heavy payload in the bed, be careful with what it has equipped
The little black skirt on the bumper barley does anything to improve gas milage anyways. If you took it off you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference in mpgs. I would still rather have a truck that can go up and down a hill without scraping something. I had that problem with my 98 suburban.
I have to say i like them but to respond to all the brand loyalty i believe that is the best thing for the Big Three. If say GM or Ford or Chrysler had no competition whatsoever in the truck market we would get a shitty truck year in year out because if someone needs a truck they can only get one, so I can dislike a truck for the way it looks but can't hate the other manufacturers because they are making each other set the bar higher each and every year, making better and better trucks!
This is my biggest gripe with these new trucks. I would much rather prefer at least a 3.73 gear ratio, 4.10 would be more like it. My current truck (5 cyl GMC Canyon) has 3.73s, and I would never buy a truck with 3.08s. That's just stupid IMO.
I think the next ford half ton will be cool, but you know the atlas won't really look a whole lot like the concept right? It's likely to retain the current f150 look, with some redesigned features. It won't be anything mind blowing.
What you mean finally the only thing wrong withe the last generation Silverado and Sierra was the interior, the new Silverado and Sierra greatly improve that and improve what was already good about the trucks.
Impressive, and the Silverado is the twin to the (GMC Sierra), these are awesome half ton pick up trucks and they also have (Active fuel management), for v8 engines, 4 cylinders shut down to conserve fuel, What is fords' equivalent, oh yea the ecoboost and aluminum body frame. I'd rather drive a truck that has a (STEEL) frame rather than aluminum especially for safety reasons, it just makes sense!!!!!!
Truck seems to retain the 2013-2007 looks.....although, this is the longbed? Longbeds were supposed to be an 8ft box.. This looks like the 6ft aka shortbed.. Maybe they changed terminology for 2014...But that's how it's always been to me
Well depends on what you use the truck for. 99% of the people who buy the pickups buy it for towing. The 1% that does not use it for towing it is just a waste of gas. Any gas mileage that can help its great because $100 gas a week is killer.
Six year late reply....lol. 4806 dry and 6000 wet with "stuff" inside the trailer. Not exactly light. I just purchased this exact Airstream the 23 FB and was looking at a used GMC.
First thing I would do if I had this truck would be to remove the stupid plastic skirt on the front bumper. Who cares about gas mileage. 99% of people who buy big pickups don't expect good gas mileage.
I'm looking to trade up my 2004 Denali but after driving and extensively reviewing the new trucks. I can see that I have the better truck overall and its 10 years old. Very sad GMC very sad. The luxury of quadrasteer and ride control is my death grip. And if the time comes that I do buy new i wont be buying a truck this low to the ground again. Dodge offers air ride control so thats where I will go next unless something roles around new for 2015
this time around I think GM lost my business. This truck looks too bulky(along with the silverado). Seems like they designed this new generation around a higher trim level. I've seen a base Silverado LS, and it looks hideous.
Everyone talking about fords being better but fords are a piece of crap. F-fixing O-or R-repairing d-daily. If you want something reliable and good looking go with a chevy or gmc!
Lol naw man. It was too small, cramped, underpowered and uninspiring. Glad they finally spiced things up a bit, but Ram and F-150 are moving forward and will soon leave the GM behind again.

How so? Lol. GM has always lagged behind the competition. They make a strong product for a year, then Ford and Dodge model years overlap and leave them in the dust as per usual. Looks slightly better then the silverado but both are ugly. The 2014 f150 atlas looks a million times better and will destroy the chevy and gmc in a competition.
