I have that dreaded bose speaker rattle on both my front speakers... Thanks so much for your video! Gonna gove this a try. Mine is a 2014 Grand Touring as well!!!
Probably the most detailed video I've come across. I have a mazda 6 Estate 2014 model and I'm experiencing this same problem. Funnily enough, it seems to make that same rattling noise as yours so I'm convinced it's the same issue. Eitherway I feel confident enough to try it myself. Many thanks again brother!
That's why I make my videos! If it only helps one person, it makes it all worth it! I hope it fixes your issue! PS, I wish we got the Estates here in the States!

Your video is the only one I’ve watched that showed how to remove and reuse the door clips so thank you for that! None of mine broke, but the majority of them stayed in the door frame rather than the door panel. I knew I didn’t blow my speaker and started researching the issues with Mazda 6 with the Bose package. Sure enough passenger front was rusted and separated, bought some silicone adhesive and fixed it right up!
I’m glad it worked! I try my best to show how it’s done to help others! I thought I was going to have to replace my speaker as well, until I saw the price! I figured I would try to repair it first! Still holding strong!
Thank you so very much for this video. I was quoted $340 to replace my front passenger side speaker as I was informed that my Bose 9” sub was blown. I was baffled because I like bass but not so much to blow the speaker. I have a 2015 Mazda 3 Grand Touring and I started hearing the rattling this winter. I watched your video and knew this was probably my issue as well. I followed each step with my brother in law as I didn’t feel comfortable removing the door panel all by myself. And sure enough, almost half of my speaker was pulled away but with rust. We took q-tips and dipped them in isopropyl alcohol to wipe away all the rust, let it dry and glued it down. We used small clamps to hold in place, let the glue dry for a half an hour then reassembled everything. Only to find out that the left door was rattling too. I wasn’t quoted the replacement of that speaker. However, we were confident enough and did the other side too. We felt like pros doing the second side. High fives and all. Note: both doors had two plastic clips that broke half way when removing the door panels but we were able to reuse them in places that we didn’t think would compromise using the door to pull it shut near the handle on the inside. Worked like a charm. Many thanks!!! My system sounds like new again with no rattle anymore. You are freaking awesome and saved me what would have been almost $700. 👏 🤩 😎
@@DariusBuildz. Whoop whoop! 🙌 I let them cure for 24 hours. Tested them yesterday with the bass turned back up to how I had them set before and they are working perfectly. 😊 Zoom Zoom Zoom! Boom Boom Boom!!! 💥 Also, for people who don’t feel comfortable removing the clips with a flathead screwdriver, they can buy something like this. GEARWRENCH Panel Clip Pliers - 3705 Black Large or similar.
I didnt know I needed to know this. My speakers have annoyed me for years and I have just ignored but the crown, is mentioning sound deadening mats. I have now repaired the Bose and replaced rear tweeters while at it and put sound deadening throughout front and back doors and replaced the faded doo seals. Thank you for taking all the knocks to show us how to do it.
Thanks for this video, Darius! I just had a pro install a new speaker to remedy this exact passenger-side problem and when I went to pick it up, the other side started rattling. Instead of bringing it back to them, I’m gonna do it myself with the help of this video, so thanks so much.
I have a 2016 mazda 6 and both front speakers were blown when I bought the car....The dealership had adjusted the bass and fader to mask the problem. I tried this fix today and WOW. It worked!
I have a 2015 mazda 3 with the same issue and this solution fixed my problem. Really appreciate the do-it-yourself video! Saved myself some money and learned something new 👍
It’s good to hear that it fixes the issues on the 3 as well. I’m sorry that the 3 has the same issues, lol. It’s probably the same speaker I would assume.
@@DariusBuildz it's a bose speaker but it doesn't have any drip guard on it. Looks to have been the exact issue you had on your speaker lol. Hoping the glue lasts for a good bit
Thank you! I just got my 2016 Mazda GT and wondered why the bass was turned all the way down. Rattled the sec I upped the bass. I decided to give your method a shot and it worked! I was a bit terrified at first but I kept at it. Thanks again!
Thanks dude. I just wanted to know how to remove the doorpanel because i thought i had blown my speaker this evening. Thanks to you I wasn't just able to remove the panel and install it again, I also have a working speaker again.
Thank you for your vid Darius! I just glued both of my frontdoor speakers in my Mazda 3 today and watched your Video like 3 times in preparation, since it's almost identical to the Mazda 6! You did a great job explaining every step! Thanks again and keep up the good work! Greetings from Germany.
Thank you this took less than 20 min to do the same fixes in the video as this happened to both sides of my speakers over the years. Glad I found your video and saved money doing it myself.
I have 2015 Mazda 6 Atenza (similarly specced as the GT spec in the US I think) and the LHS (passenger side for me) is rattling like crazy. Had to turn down the bass to the -6 or whatever it is minimum and still can hear it. I'm not a very DIY inclined person so I might ask my regular indy mechanic to do it for me, and thankfully through your video he would then just follow it through haha (not many Mazda 6s here in Australia so I'm not sure on the general knowledge of this issue of regular mechanic). Thanks again man!
@@DariusBuildz Unfortunately not. I'm still not sure whether my dealership was being straight with me or not. I've since replaced both door speakers with Powerbass speakers.
Had the same problem, Its caused by the crappy paint on the basket rusting. My fix has now lasted 2 years. If you have to replace it then you may be able to wire a 2ohm sub in series with the tweeter. Good luck finding a 2ohm full range speaker that size. Its just to big for a normal full range speaker.
Yup, it seems that ALL of the Mazdas using the Bose speakers have that problem (I have a 2013 & a 2015 CX-5 and both have had the problem). One difference I noticed is that your speakers appear to have a shield over the top (back) of the speaker to help keep moisture off the speaker. It is obviously not enough to protect the speaker and have seen others that modify a 10" speaker cone (shallow) to cover this 9" speaker (I have found zero 9" speaker cones out there that will work with these speakers)
Ohh. I figured they all have the water shield for the front speakers. But Infinity makes a 8" 2 ohm sub that fits and people have used it with success. But it was just cheaper to fix the Bose speaker and see how long it lasts, lol
Great video, followed every step and fixed the speaker. Tnx. Only difference, i used a silicone tyle of glue. By my logic, superglue hardens and it is not flexible so after a while i will crack from vibrations. Silicone will not crack or break with age and it's rubbery so it gives it a bit of breathing space when the base hits... We shall see 🙂
Thank you for the video. About to do this on my ‘15 6 Grand Touring. Did you ever replace the speakers? Having trouble finding good 2 ohm replacements.
Nice, but you need to peel off the rust under paint, If not, the rust will continue to grow all over the Speaker. Also, before applying the glue, you should clean the part in contact with the cardboard with some anticorrosive solution until there is no more rust ( you can use a cotton swab with the solution) After that and it dries you can use the glue, since there is a large amount of rust that causes the speaker to deteriorate.
I’ve seen people use all sorts of stuff including e6000, but I used two just for a little security and extra hold. It’s been 3.5 years since the repair and it’s still working perfectly!
Just fixed my Bose speakers like this with a flexible Loctite glue. Thanks for posting but no thanks to Bose for poor corrosion resistance on very expensive speakers. This should not have happened to a 5 year old Mazda 6.
I have the Grand Touring '15 Model with the BOSE system. Where's the sub located? My 2010 Grand Touring's sub was part of the rear deck between the speakers. The 2015 Doesn't seem to have that setup.
The “sub” are the front door speakers. They are basically 9” subs. The mids and highs are the dash speakers. The rear door and rear deck speakers are just for fill.
Nice job! I'm having the same issue with my Mazda and need to fix it. After the glue dries, I think some spray wax will protect that area from future water damage.
Wax idea isn’t bad. This video has me wondering how that water lip could be shaped better/have a lip that came out to get the water away from the bottom too…although I don’t think we can stop all moisture since the window will sometimes go down when wet idk
Hi, thank you so much for the video. I thought my speakers needed to be replaced, took both out of my 2013 cx5 grand touring and found both cones had separated from the frame also which made my music sound very bad. Had a heart attack when I seen the price of new speakers. Also do you think it's worth removing rear speakers for same reason? Or it's not a common problem? Thank you from Australia!
Glad the video helped! And it seems to only be an issue with the front speakers and I think it’s because they have much more excursion from being a subwoofer. The front Bose door speakers seems to be the only prone failure. It’s silly really!
Awesome details man! My driver's side is rattling so I'm gonna try this out. Just wondering about the door clips though. Did any of them break when you were pulling them apart?
Just followed this video and fixed my speakers! Thank you! Has anyone had the issue where they put everything back and the auto-down windows don't work anymore? It's only on the front windows which is weird. All windows roll down, all locks work, the adjustable mirrors work, and the auto down works in the BACK windows, the auto-down on the front 2 windows is the only thing that isn't working, maybe a plug not fully seated?
@@DariusBuildz yes it was very strange but I figured it out! When the window control module is unplugged it basically resets it I guess. To fix it I held both window buttons all the way and then all the way back up and held it up for 5ish seconds. Worked immediately!
@@Beaster456 I was going to comment that next. I thought they only reset when the battery was disconnected, but if you unplug it, that makes since too. I cant remember if I had to reprogram my auto up/down
This finally happened to me today. Lmao I used electrical tape for now because I couldn’t find any of my adhesive that I have chingos of all over the house. They’re just playing hide and seek right now. 😂
@@DariusBuildz I just did it today, but so far it seemed to be holding ok. I pushed it into each groove as best I could. I did all 4 open slots just to be ahead of it. I'll give it a few more days and some "bass" to see if it holds.
@@DariusBuildz glad you answered this guy. I have this problem on my 2016 CX-5 GT and I’ll take this cheap fix any day if it’s lasted you 4 years man. Thanks for the vid!
Ok so I just randomly did a fade balance test in my car as i always do and my front passenger side speaker is very low and has no bass. It has never been like this. Ally speakers are powered by amp so i changed the wires between a different channel and the speaker did the same thing. So is a sign of a blown speaker
Thanks for posting the video. I tried it on my 2014 mazda3 but the speaker's back side is inaccessible because of the angle. It's smaller and on a differently shaped plastic mount. Do you know how I can access the back to reglue it?
If the speaker is not working it may need a full replacement. If it is working and rattling, it may work, but I have not tried this on a 2nd gen 6 Bose speaker. If it looks like mine, the repair may work!
Yes. I have one layer of dynamat and a layer of dynaliner behind the speaker. Helps with mid bass a lot and also decreased the rattle in the door and mirror.
@@DariusBuildz Ima prob go with amazon basics cuz im cheap. So you removed the sytaroam on the door panel and replaced that with the new liner basically? Did you add any to the door frame itself.
How did you get those damn fucking door panel pop things out? They keep breaking on me and I can’t get them out to reinstall the door panel. Tried string behind them like another comment said to no avail. Speaker sounds great jusr cant get the damj panel back on without getting these things out the door. Thank you for the video man
I honestly got lucky with my clips. A lot of people clips break. If they are stuck in the door, or normally punch them in with a screwdriver and try to fish them out.
@@DariusBuildz You deserve it being that you’ve helped so many of us by posting this video. Hope you enjoy because words cannot espresso how much you mean to me. He! He! Heh. Keep up the good work man.
Bose should be embarrassed with these speakers. Same issue happened with my Mazda and probably every other Bose equipped Mazda. These speakers are junk
@@DariusBuildz BTW I used this video as a guide and successfully fixed my mazda's bose speakers at the front - both had completely unglued at the surround... now it works like new.
