*Fabulous car ideal as a 'second' and with a range (on the extended range model) up to 120 Miles would be ideal for commuting within that frame, or as 85% of journeys are less than 30 Miles an everyday car which can be recharged overnight. Currently in the UK looking at one 'as new' 2015 model with 20,900 Miles and full Premium kit at £15,750 (equal to just over $20k US) I have the B200CDi AMG Line (W245) and the same as this, and has proven to be an exceptionally well built and reliable car. In 6 years only failure LED Rear Number Plate lights, easily replaced, literally 30 second job.*

22:00 *With a **_220v 3 phase output_** at home, or even single phase, you are able to charge this much faster, and as a second car would suit many drivers with commuting and journeys less than 80 miles, which is 90% of trips made.*

24:15 *Did you notice the **_Fibre Optic Surround lighting_** come on whilst in tunnel, no I didn't think so, but it's amazing and on the latest available in 64 different colours.*

motor has bushing or bearing issues occasionally, sometimes requiring motor replacement due to coolant leakage.

Thanks for informing the viewers. 2014 was way back when Tesla was just starting out.

20:42 *My Express, recently set out to find out just how aerodynamic the 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class (W246) really is. You may be surprised to know that the new B-Class with a drag coefficient of .26 is more aerodynamic than the CL (.27 Cd) and the SLK (.3 Cd). Not to mention the new Mercedes B-Class has an optional aero upgrade package that lowers the drag coefficient by .02, lowering it to .24. Lower than any other production car on the market. The latest W247 achieves even lower 'drag' at .24 Best in Class, and on mine B200CDi 2019 AMG have achieved 76.3 (UK) MPG over a 90 mile recent winter journey, with CO² emissions of 192 gram per kilometre. (63.5 US Gallons MPG)*

*I attended a selected Mercedes customer 'review' in Dortmund in December 2016, and whilst sworn to secrecy can I believe now reveal that Mercedes has future plans for many EV's including the new W247 'B' Class. Exciting times ahead, the new EV I guess will be launched late 2019-Early 2020 - I have this same car (B200 CDi AMG Line) as the one featured, which I would rate as one of the best cars I have ever owned - and that includes Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, and many previous Mercedes. I love it for its efficiency (72 mpg) Performance 140 MPH, Braking, Steering and practically, can get 2 mountain bikes in rear no problem. The latest 'tablet' display is amazing, as are many other features on the latest model.* *This particular 'version' was a brief collaboration with Tesla to **_Test the Water_** on EV's, but future models will be all Mercedes Technology.* *PS The 140+ MPH was on a German Autobahn near Munich and totally legal*

So I live in Colorado Springs. I couldn’t even drive to Denver if I wanted to because it’s about 80 miles away. I Go to a game I’ll be out there probably 3-4 hours. But there is always traffic in Denver. Man I like the Idea of having a EV, and definitely a premium one. But this particular one may not work for me. That sucks

Im looking to buy this Benz but the thing that has me second guessing is that it is level two charging. If I don’t have that setup in my garage then I can’t charge it

Nice review, I appreciate the details and comparisons with other EVs. As of 2019 used Model B's are available in the $20's. At those prices there is still some value to be had for those who can live with 80-90 miles ranges and no fast charging. Much more roomy and comfortable then my old 2018 Chevy Volt.

Thanks. 🙂 Yes, the "Model B" will surly become a cult car classic. The powertrain & battery will probably last forever.

@@theevolvingworld I m driving a 500e, loving the zippy golf cart feel and no problem with the short range or lack of fast charging because its a second car, but I m considering trading for a cheap 10k (6k with tax credit)2014 MB b250e with 85k miles, since we are regularly driving 3 passengers in the 500e and getting in and out is reaaly not that fun. getting plush suspension, rear doors doors, overall more comfort while maintaining the zippy ~8s 0-60 that lets you get easily ahead of the traffic in the city/suburbs at traffic lights/stops signs etc. I'll just miss the 500e looks

It's completely up to you and your needs. It's a totally different car: Bigger & much heavier. Range is about the same with L2 only charging. Best to take it out for a long (40-50 miles) test drive before, to get a better ideal of the differences and to find out about battery health (range).

Love your review videos!! Very well done! I've narrowed down my choice to the eGolf, Kia Soul EV and the MB B-class. I'm 6'3" 230 lbs...which one has the largest room for driving. I commute 64 miles round trip and don't envision using the car for any highway or long-distance driving, so the FAST-charging isn't a necessary option. I live in Detroit, and I have to deal with snowy winters, otherwise I'd include the BMW i3 in the list. I can't test drive any of the cars as none are close by. Any advice you have would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
@theevolvingworld
@theevolvingworld 6 лет назад
Thanks. There are a lot factors to consider & I could talk for hours about them. For 2014-16, based off of what you mention. Kia Soul EV would be the car I would choose. Lightest, roomiest, 27 KWh battery, heated wheel/heated front & rear seats, and fast charger (you don't think you need it... until you do). And with the "+" pkg.: cooled front seats & power panoramic sunroof w/ power shade. EV batteries don't hold the same amount of charge in the cold as they do in summer. The other two might not even make 64 miles on a typical winter night in Detroit, on a single charge.

Can you recommend the B250 over the 2013-2015 Leaf? I live in Oahu. Does it have a better range than the Leaf 24kw models? I like that it has TMS and would be happy with 87 miles of range. I was able to test drive one last month. Thanks for any insight.

Great car, just needs level 3 charging... drive train by Tesla! Definitely a plus! I use level 3 about 2 times per week, there is one at the Nissan dealership nearby. I wouldn’t have bought my Leaf otherwise. Sometimes I just don’t have hours and hours to charge... new these were about $50k, now??? Waaaay less! Would be a great 2nd car for around town...

About 18:05, two Nissan leaf in one driveway on the left lol. Awesome video and I emailed them about a Chevy Spark EV! Will be doing business with them because Montana is super anti-ev.
@theevolvingworld
@theevolvingworld 4 года назад
Thanks. Spark is a good inexpensive 1st EV. Although, don't forget that the range drops in colder weather. 20-25% here in Seattle near sea level, more in colder areas!

@@theevolvingworld yeah, a guy has a first gen leaf but doesn't lose but 5 miles in the cold. Not sure what that's about lol. 60+ miles is just fine for my use.

In your opinion will a used B250e or Model S depreciate worse in value during the next 2 years?
@theevolvingworld
@theevolvingworld 6 лет назад
That's a very interesting question. Model S is a far superior car with the supercharger network, so you can drive anywhere worry free. However, the B250e is a more rare car, like the other Tesla conversion cars: RAV4 & Roadster. The B250e is level 2 charging only car, which severely limits it on longer trips. A 2014 B250e is much less expensive to buy then a 2014 Model S. So, I would say the cheaper car has less to lose and Model S will depreciate faster in 2 years. Although, if your buying to keep it, the B250e will be a museum peace in five years. While Model S will keep evolving indefinitely.

I like this car a lot but I drive 200 miles from home on a consistent basis. So I need at least 200 miles of range OR 100 ish miles of range fast charging and this has neither.
@theevolvingworld
@theevolvingworld 3 года назад
240 is even a better target. This allows for cold weather, headwind, & less stress on the battery by keeping it the charge between 10-90%. The Bolt, model 3, & the Kona/Niro twins are the best used EV's out there. But, hang in there, there's lot's of better choices coming soon.

It was produced for four model years (2014 - 2017). M-B has announced other EV model's coming. None will be a joint venture with Tesla, such as this model.
