Don't listen to the camera guy. -don't gun it, that's why he got stuck -don't shut it off unless your air intake is taking on water -that Rubicon can go through there, best in 4-low at moderate pace -don't give'r hell, give it enough gas to slowly turn the wheels. Spinning the tires digs pits
Chris Godown actually in slop like that you want your tires spinning fast enough to clean the tread. If the tread doesn't clear (which only happens from spinning) it won't move.
lol. When there is water, it washes the mud out of the tread at lower speed. Spinning tires dig pits in mud too. The only reason you want to spin the tires in mud (not in a pond) is to sling the mud out of the tread. You'll still dig a hole instead of moving if you spin them too much. Think of a belt sander. At high speed it just peels layers off of what it touches. At lower speed it grabs and wants to pull out of your hand. If you have momentum, you can spin the tires more because they'll dig in less, but when you're stopped, you're just making things worse. But, you go enjoy your mud however you want. I won't stop you.
Umm diesels are known for being very heavy and jeeps are known for being light. If the jeep sank in the mud what did you think was going to happen when you sent the cummins through it?
electrical issue? seems like it stalled because water splashed up into the intake. that's why you don't enter with a lot of speed. you can hydrolock it like that
I just found this video, months after it's posted, but whatever. I have a 2014 Rubicon. I'm actually pretty impressed at how yours got out of that pudding pit. Goes to show what front and rear lockers and some gas pedal finesse can do even without a set of 38 inch Monster Mudders and a 6 inch lift. (e.g. minimum requirements according to a lot of (self appointed) "real" Jeepers) I've been in some pretty tough places with my stock Rubi tires too, they're NOT that bad. I do get a bit hand-wringing worried about soft mud though, so thanks, I needed this video to see that it can be done. As for the camera man, it's poetic justice and/or karma considering how his Dodge went down like the SS Minnow, and had to be yanked out by the very same Jeep he was braying about.
Craig Ueltzen I agree. This was a stock Rubicon with new stock tires. I think it might have a 1" lift from factory. I'm sure there are plenty of places it won't go, but you won't find a better stock 4WD. That's a fact.
08DodgeRamHemi i was thinking same thing trucks and Jeeps where made different for different purpose. Ram a work hourse for hard work a Wrangler fun for offroad play.
Had a friend that did this with his (lifted 3" on 35's) Rubicon (after a few beers of course) only it wasn't a baby puddle, it was the side of a deep and muddy river...was going fine until he hit a deep spot and it poured up over the hood, windows about half way up the windshield. Yeah, he got pulled out by a bulldozer. Fortunately, the engine was not hydro locked (PURE LUCK). Amazing what a little common sense (and a few less beers) will help you avoid.
Light weight jeep any day for these big truck boys. I used to have a stock Samurai back in 87 and i just trucked past all my friends in their heavy ass trucks. Team jeep all day.
You're the type of people to buy a jeep and think "hey let's take the STOCK jeep and try going through the deepest pit of mud we can find and expect not to get stuck; oh and because we have big egos let's compare the dodge and jeep and see who can get stuck the shortest amount of time"
You don't gas it through water without a snorkel, if the water push's through your air filter, it will go through into your pistons and as the piston comes up ... Well Kaaaboom! You need a new engine.
+tangled Line I don't like the 4 door Rubicons, they arn't shit to buy, I'd rather have a two door. The two door jeeps are more powerful, and no one should be bringing it through water that deep, that's a guaranteed way to get stuff stuck.
The person videoing is not the smartest off-roader. Nor is his grammar the best. On a side note, easy to tell someone to beat up their stuff if you don't have to pay the bill.
