Love this car! On my 1st week. Ride is smooth.. best of all is I'm getting 38 mpg average on a 60/40 city hiway commute to work every day.. Had a best 43mpg for the same route.
It's a nice car, but at $24K, you may as well get a Mazda 3 which is the better car to drive and more efficient. Personally, I would skip the moonroof and the driver convenience package (which adds the entune app suite, the keyless entry and push button start). Both of those combine add up to around $2500. I don't need either of those so I can do without them. If you get the top trim Corolla without those two options, you still get navigation and bluetooth streaming, heated leather seats, etc. all for around $21.5K which is the best value for money.
I love mine! Have the "S" Plus in the blue. Fun car to drive, great gas mileage and roomy. I don't know where he came up with "Just over $24K", I got mine, fully loaded, for $20,118.
I agree with you,m ive driven a corolla and it was the most dull experience in my life. i drove a 2000 dodge neon at the time and it was more thrilling. and now i own a 08 mazda 3 and man does that car have speed and good build quality!
It is available in 6-speed manual. That's a HUGE selling point for me. The 1.8 litre engine's reliability is legendary. I only wish wish wish that they make the hatchback available here. I know it exists, why not bring it to Canada? My '05 Matrix is the poster child for all around practicality and reliability.
I got a chance to test drive this today (S Premium) and was quite surprised with the handling. It was very responsive and quick to accelerate. Unfortunately, the Sport mode is just a gimmick and the car makes too much noise when accelerating.
Very nice car. Definitely better looking than the Civic and Elantra. Plus, you get Toyota quality. I wouldn't spend $24k on the top model, but a mid-line model should run around $20 and that's competitive.
The tooling to build the powertrain was paid off long ago, giving Toyota more profit for each Corolla it builds. The engine and tranny (4spd only the base CE) are also rock solid so why change just for the sake of change? GM built the 3800 V6 for DECADES, dating back to 1962.
Very impressive interior for a $23000 car if that price was accurate. However, it looks like they saved money by putting a lethargic powertrain in it. 140hp just doesn't cut it for 2014.
Man. Toyota has always been only a reliable car to me. Never saw it as anything more than grocery car. The IIHS results totally ruined it for me. Though Corolla may be called the "most reliable" I think the IIHS test and Honda's edge has put Corolla to the back. Well there's always 2015, I heard they're going to do something about it.
Best selling car ? With that gutless 1.8ltr 4 spd ! ? I drove the '13 and it was just dull , it was the CE and the interior was just hard plastic everywhere. This car needed more power at the base level and if your going to call it S why not give it a 2lt with 150hp ? I think they missed the mark . That blacked out front grill can go , just more decontenting .
Toyota is not as reliable as people perceive I own a 2009 Corolla S and its been nothing but problems, if you like rattles, a transmission that shifts rough and a sunroof that makes a lot of noise when in use buy a Toyota. I own one......just trying to save people the the problems that i have.
Just an absolutely flimsy, cheap, hack job redesign of a car. I don't even see any of these on the road. Toyota missed the mark by miles on this redesign. They had it nailed on the outgoing model. Trying to keep up with Hyundai/Kia and Mazda and Toyota is now becoming a "me too" player in once dominated segments.
