A lift kit takes 8 to 10 hrs. I am one of those people that always recommend an alignment or at least have it checked after having any front end/ suspension done. Better safe than sorry. I know that on some trucks you have to replace the entire control arm if the ball joints are bad. If that is the case then 100% needs an alignment. Because the adjustments for the aliment are done at the lower control arm bolts. There are a lot of factors that could have come into play with why it took all day. If they have to order the parts sometimes it takes the parts store/ department a while to bring the parts to the shop. So what I'm getting at is it is not uncommon for a couple hour job to take all day. As for the differential it could be leaking and not be dripping on to the ground. Gear oil is very viscus so it tends to stick to the diff and not drip. Also there are skid plates and dust covers that could be catching the oil and not letting it hit the ground. I would look under the truck at the front diff and see if it looks wet.

34x11R20 on a wheel with a 0 offest is what we normally do. Anything bigger take quite a bit of modifcation due to the crash bars. We wont cut them off due to the liability of modifying a safty feature. I however have figured out a way to swap them to gain more clearance and that way they are still there. Im sure there are people out there who have done it. Its just going to take a lot of work and time.

Depending on skill level it takes about 8 - 10 hours. Although skilled installers average about 6-8 hours.
